Don’t think anyone could pick Lycett after that performance. He looked terrible, Darcy gave him an absolute bath. Dixon looked more competitive against Darcy. Port have a real conundrum with their ruck situation, it will be interesting to see which way they go.
The Port Big Footy boards have been saying that Lycett is cooked for quite a while now; albeit with a lot more vitriol. He will probably still be picked as No.1 ruck but I wouldn't go anywhere near him.

Unfortunately, only Yeo helps to solve the backline rookie problem.
There’s a backline rookie problem?

The two Lions boys should average around the 60 mark. Constable looks to be playing a very friendly SC role. Big wraps on Ginbey but we’ll learn more later today. Then there’s Goater, and possibly even the mature age Cincotta who are both expected to play on a half-back flank which should be okay SC wise.

Yeo at D3 or D4 and fielding two or three of the above mentioned should be fine I would have thought.

Might be a year just to load that 200-350K range and just rotate rookies for the last few on field spots, could get Yeo,Hopper,Worpel,Sheed,Callaghan,Bruhn and Ziebell all present as pretty good options.
That approach was so successful last year. Coniglio, Will Brodie, Tom Green, Rowell, Curnow, Cameron, Bowey, Blakey, Hewett, Cripps etc. - all the midpricers just worked out great.

Was that season a one-off though? Or will all of Yeo, Hopper, Worpel, Sheed, Callaghan, Bruhn and Ziebell just be super successful as well?

Admittedly as a big GnR fan, I'm hoping it's the former and the success of midpricers in 2022 creates a bit of a trap :censored:

Apologies if this question has been asked elsewhere but does anyone know what happens to Ratugolea R/F if he plays in defence for first 6 rounds? Does he become a TPP and get R/F/D??

Geelongs front half pressure is just about the best in the comp, McKenna and Wilmot will have far easier tasks ahead than they had last night playing solid and having their moments is about all you can have expected.
Very good point.

What are your thoughts on Bruhn? Just wondering if expectations are a bit much when the cats have Menegola, Danger (will play much more mid in the real season you would think), Bowes possibly, Guthrie, Atkins … just so much depth in the cats midfield - is he going to get enough midfield time to justify his price?
Kid looked great but just worried he gets shuffled down the pecking order when the cats are at full strength.

11/23 CBA's and tonned, dont think hes going to need massive minutes to score well as hes in and under and contested and dont see why they would take him out of that role, been the best mid in both practice games.

Will be dishing the footy out to Bowes,Duncan,Menegola,Smith moreso than impacted by them being in the side for mine.

Not to mention if you want to pay up for Job security Liam Jones and Tom Cole are a great chance to average 60

I also failed to mention McVee, who also plays an SC friendly role albeit the JS may not be there pending the fitness of Salem.

Plenty of fieldable rookie priced DEF options in my view.
