Outside of Ginbey and Constable, which back rookies are people going with? Currently got McKenna and Wilmot on the bench but I think Carlton will give Cowan a fair crack.
McKenna, Wilmot and Young. Chesser on MID bench too. Would happily have Cowan over Young if not for the fact I have exactly $0 in the bank.

This is what Simmo said earlier this year re Chesser :-

“I think Chess played five games in his draft year and then he played no games last year. That is going to be a slower build. Just getting him on the track and feeling good about his body. Naturally he is pretty fit,” he said.

“I think he will start seeing some match play at the end of February – get through a good training block – he is probably ready for that now and we will then see how we go.

“It is not all about round one, especially for someone like Chess who is still building from that injury he had.”

So just 5 games in 2 years & coming back from a serious injury that wiped out last year. So no doubt they will manage him this year, could see them resting him a few times/not pushing the kid too hard after what he has been through the last 2 years.

Seems very much a sub risk if not a sub out risk. Don't think you can pick him based on this.

Is Young only replacing Gibscus or will Robbie Tarrant impact him, listed 1-3 weeks? asking for a friend ;)
From what I’ve heard, Tarrant is likely closer to 3 weeks and beyond away than 1 week away. A contact has a link to the club but obviously don’t take as gospel.

Still need Young to get named yet though..

I don't really like Michalanney's job security even though he has apparently had a very strong pre season to date.

x - Butts - Doedee
Smith - Murray - Dawson

I'd imagine Parnell gets that spot and Milera apparently was set to go but didn't play the final pre season game due to a personal reason (still not back at training). Milera might not be good for round 1 as it's hard to know what's going on there but would put some heat on Michalanney's position instantly (Milera might be the sub possibly).

Worrell is the other who would be well ahead in the same position however he's had a few hammy issues this pre season, think I've read he's hurt it 2-3 times so they might be bit more conservative bringing him back (hurt it against Freo in the first trial game, not sure to what extent).

Not without a chance of playing but by no means a safe pick imo so it would be important for him to have a good first couple of games to buy some more games early.
Still not huge on him for JS (and it depends on the teams for our other options) but apparently Milera didn't train today (and hasn't for a week or two with some kind of personal matter) which would put Max in a pretty good position for a round 1 debut.

Worrell is listed as 3-4 weeks away which might see him go through the SANFL first so yeah, if options are bare then I suppose I've seen worse options.

Crows High Performance Manager Darren Burgess gives the weekly injury update.
Defender Josh Worrell is also continuing his recovery from a hamstring injury he suffered in the pre-season game against Fremantle.

“Josh is moving really well and we expect him to be integrated into training in the next two weeks so we are looking at a three to four week return to play period from now,” Burgess said.

EDIT: Apparently Burns has confirmed Milera will be back tomorrow and good to play in round 1. Suppose it gives us some clarity to the above then.
