Feeling pretty lucky. Stewart injury last week, decided would downgrade to Cole given the amount of midpricers in the team not hitting the mark (Fyfe, Bruhn, Hopper, Flanders). Then was even luckier this week with Gawn zero (VC - phew).
Why lucky? Gawn injury led to me not being able to just cash up, traded mid round Cole to Daicos (still one trade). Now also going to get Darcy Cameron for Gawn releasing another $150k. Cash will also fund Fyfe to Ziebell.
Many others are going to be burning the house down to get Daicos, probably cannot get DC easy and Ziebell may be challenging if cash spent on upgrade a midpricer to Daicos.
These injuries look terrible (clearly are for two players we love) and if we go like for like premiums it cost two trades. Yet prior to round 3 it gives us the chance to pick up value opportunities and potentially trade generates $100k for like for like player. Prior years I would have traded LFL or held for a few weeks and upgraded around this, trying to evolve the strategy.
Only disappointment is 3rd trade next week, can afford to upgrade Bruhn to a $540k, not sure anyone standing out. Maybe a Worpel, short of COGS, LDU. Many will jump on Chandler, not sure if to chase him. Looked ok, KP back soon although with Grundy now rucking think he looks safe. more interested in Crozier who was in my original team and potentially is there a way to get to Laird in next two weeks.
Maybe overly optimistic assessment, yet not going to bemoan my 77k rank last week and likely similar this week.
Where I will have a rant, benched McKenna last week over Cowan, Ashcroft this week over Flanders. Plus Fyfe late out, although the Pou 59 may have been an upgrade score.
