I'm not so sure on this one. Outside of Sheezel I reckon I would almost be quicker than everyone else in that back 6 and I'm as slow as a wet week. Hall would give them the bit of pace their sorely missing. Their forward line is almost completely dysfunctional at the moment too and we all know JZ has spent large stretches of his career as a forward/mid.

Pretty easy for Clarko to move those 2 magnets for a couple of weeks to see how it changes things I reckon.
You never know what Clarko will do. But Ziebell has scored poorly historically when both McDonald and Hall play. Not sure how Sheezel impacts that trio.

What is going on there at the Eagles? This is the second season in a row they've been debilitated by mass injury.
Believe they had a crisis meeting last night discussing it. Last year there were a few factors such as covid but this preseason things were looking much better but since the derby when 6 players went down in that game, a number of guys have gone down at training/WAFL level & during AFL games. It is beyond ridiculous now & quite depressing to have our season essentially shot before round 6. I did see some good signs at the round 2 game v GWS I attended - ball movement & style of play much quicker in keeping with the modern game but this plague of injuries to many key players makes things very difficult unfortunately.

There will be a full review of the entire strength & fitness department, looking at every detail of the programs they have in place.

He was seen training earlier in the week with strapping on that area - he seemed to be moving fine so appears to be very minor.
I reckon it looked more like a knock to the shin/lower leg than a calf niggle. If it was a strain they wouldn't play him.

Cal Jamieson likely to play if he gets through training... Did a big session on the weekend and came through fine.

Thanks guys for the prompt feedback.

I love watching him play and want him to play for my SC team for as long as I possible. Simpson can start to consider managing him once he passes the ton at 3QT.:)

While it doesn't explain the injuries to some of the younger guys, the Eagles list is ageing with a lot of their formally elite players in their last year or two (NN, Darling (not injured), Yeo, Bunga, McGovern, Shuey etc). This is now reflecting in the length of their injury list.

They doubled down after 2018 and overpayed for Kelly (Thanks!) which is really hurting them now.

Eagles need to retire these older guys next season (perhaps keep a few at the club in mentoring roles) and reload in the draft over the next few years or it's going to be pain for the forseeable future.

Sheezel forward is my take
I would be surprised - in the games that I have watched North play, they like getting the ball into his hands as much as possible with his great decision making & execution. He is very important in transition for them, reminds me so much of how the pies used Daicos last year - playing that rebounding half back role is perfect for elite young talented kids coming into the AFL system to showcase their skills & decision making. Playing Sheezel fwd means he is reliant on North being able to transition the ball from defence to attack without him, every chance they struggle to do so which means his talents are wasted as not seeing enough ball.
Clarko is a brilliant football mind, he wants his most talented players involved as much as possible & in positions which makes the most of their talents - no doubt in my mind that he took note of how Daicos was used in his first year & wanted to do the same with Sheezel.
