As I did last year, I'll be posting the entirety of each coach's 'Ask the Coach' Q&A's.

Many people found this useful in regards to finding out information on relevant Supercoach players, so hopefully the same results come of this.

I could have cut each one down to Supercoach relevant questions only, but decided to keep all questions so supporters of each club know a bit more of what's going on behind the scenes and what not.

If you want to get involved and ask a coach a question (hopefully a Supercoach related one), check the AFL website and AFL Facebook regularly as the who, what, when, where of it all is posted on both those platforms.

I'll update as they happen, enjoy!

ADELAIDE - PHIL WALSH

Q: Who is your tip to have a breakout season? Welcome to the club, Phil!

A: The boys are all training well and we'd expect a number of players to step up this year.

Q: What improvements have you seen in the playing group since you first set foot through the door in November?

A: Their attitude has been first-class, there's been no whinging and they've taken on board everything I've said.

Q: What change do you wish to make in the club in the 2015 season?

A: Defence is where we're looking to improve after ranking 11th last year.

Q: Is there as much talent at Adelaide as there is at Port?

A: I'm really happy with the talent at Adelaide.

Q: If Taylor Walker is injured who will be the backup captain of the club?

A: Any of the other five members of the leadership group will do it if required.

Q: Where do you see Josh Jenkins lining up in 2015? Are there any plans to try him out down back or do you see him as being better suited to a forward role?

A: Josh is training as a forward and will do some ruck work.

Q: Luke Lowden is new to the club, what are his chances of a round 1 birth?

A: Luke's progressing well and we look forward to seeing him in the NAB Challenge.

Q: 1. What types of strategies are you looking to implement on team defence and offensive ball movement? 2. What things have you learnt off Burgess and/or Hinkley that you have instilled at the crows?

A: Working hard on our team defence.

Q: Asking from St. Louis, Missouri, USA; been a fan of the footy for 35 years now. Do you see the USA possibly being a place for future recruits to play Aussie Rules? If so, from where do you see these players coming from?

A: Mason Cox is over here at the moment, and there are enough Australians over there punting at the moment! They might need to send them back to us!

Q: You mentioned the need for 'man talks' because members of the leadership group disagreed with the decision to appoint Tex as captain, is this because they disagreed with taking it from VB or thought they would be better suited for the role?

A: Man conversations mean speaking your mind, even if you may not get what you want, so everyone knows where you stand on issues. That's the culture we want at the Adelaide Football Club.

Q: The Crows have been on the verge for a while but can't seem to take their game to those next levels that say the Hawks and Swans are at. What have you noticed they can improve on, and can it be turned around across 6-8 weeks, or is it a longer term thing?

A: We ranked 11th in defence last year, it's an area we want to improve on.

Q: What made you and the selection panel pick Tex Walker as the 2015 captain?

A: Team-first player, sets elite standards and gets people to follow him in the direction the club wants to go.

Q: What do you think is the most important game of the season to win?

A: All games are important, you need to win 12 or more to make the finals.

Q: Got a question Walshy - where does Ellis-Yolmen fit into the team? Good replacement in the centre for Scott Thompson?

A: Ellis-Yolmen has been training with the midfield group, and looking to fight his way into a position on the wing and go through on-ball.

Q: Are you going to play Walker, Jenkins, Podsiadly, and Lynch all in the forward line? If you're worried it's too 'top-heavy', what will you do?

A: I doubt we'll play four tall forwards, but a combination of those guys is the basis for a strong forward line.

Q: Defence was an issue last year, do you believe that this is an issue that should be addressed by the backline setups and personnel or whether it is an issue of whole team defence?

A: Team defence.

Q: What was the deciding factor going from a team that is on the verge of premiership success, to a team that probably isn't quite there yet?

A: Mental approach as much as anything, believing that you're good enough to win.

Q: Love to see a renewed focus on contested footy and gut-running – is this heavily involved in the pre-season?

A: Contested footy and hard running is something we're working hard on over the pre-season.

COLLINGWOOD - NATHAN BUCKLEY

Q: G'day Nathan, I've read a bit about how you are using data to track the players foot skill development. Can you explain that a bit? Cheers.

A: John, we keep an eye on our skill efficiency at training to replicate game conditions as much as we can.

Q: What's your opinion on the sub rule? I would love to see J. Witts as a half forward and taking the forward fifty hit outs.

A: Sub rule can be let go in my opinion. We'd like to see both Wittsy and Brodes play a lot of footy this year.

Q: Where do you see Dane Swan playing most of his footy in 2015 (up forward, midfield or change of role)?

A: When fit Swanny will play midfield/forward. He is damaging in both roles and will complement our mix well.

Q: Morning Nathan, you have really strengthened the list with some quality young guys over the past two years, which of these guys are you likely to blood early in the season?

A: We reckon we have 8-10 players who would be locks in our "best 22" if fit. After that there are up to 20 that would have claims on the other spots. This competition for spots will be great for us. Many are training well, performance through NAB and in season will be the test.

Q: How is Nathan Brown travelling? Holds the key to releasing Reid as a swingman.

A: Browny has had a solid pre-season. Great preparation for him. He, Frosty and Reidy will be first choice key backs. Keeffey is there as well with Darcy and Jon Marsh in the wings

Q: Have you considered playing Jamie Elliott off half back?

A: No mate. He is an elite forward who gives the opposition a lot to consider. Would like to get him in the middle more often.

Q: What is the hardest game you've had in your managerial career?

A: Round 21 against Brisbane last year was no fun. Looking to redeem ourselves early this year.

Q: Who will surprise people from Collingwood in 2015? Which kid is ready to dominate 2015?

A: Hopefully all of them. Last year Frost (2), Langdon (0) and Witts (7) had played 9 games between them and then played 61 in 2014. We could have any one of 10-12 players do something similar this year and we'll be better for it.

Q: Hello Nathan. Good morning. I would just like to know how Patrick Karnezis & Josh Thomas preseason’s are tracking? Can we expect to see more of these two talented kids in 2015? Will Patrick play as a 3rd tall forward?

A: Patty K is training well and has made great gains in his fitness this off season. We think he'll play senior footy this year and will have his chance to be a part of the forward mix and even on a wing. JT showed in 2013 that he can play at the level. We want to see more of that.

FREMANTLE - ROSS LYON

Q: Ross; We have seen certain trends brought in that other teams adapt into their play style over the last few years (started with the switch, flooding, rolling zones, the spread, the press, etc.) What do you expect to be the biggest changes in 2015 and will we see new tactics introduced?

A: Teams are going to focus on trying to match Hawthorn's potent offence while still being able to defend really well, with an emphasis on kicking skills.

Q: What is your favourite statistic to use?

A: The scoreboard.

Q: Hi Ross, given the strength of the midfield and the emergence of some younger small-mid forwards (Walters, Crozier, Duffy), what do you see as Matt de Boers role in 2015?

A: We still rate Matt highly as a fierce pressure forward, and he'll compliment that with being a big inside-mid ball winner, and the occasional tagging role.

Q: What's a normal pre-season training day for Fremantle?

A: Generically, we do Monday, Wednesday, Friday football, running and weights. Tuesday is an off-legs, yoga and core. Thursday is a day off and Saturday we come in and do running, weights and goalkicking.

Q: How long can Aaron Sandilands go on for?

A: I think he'll surprise a few with his longevity. I'm sure he's thinking he's got a few more years yet.

Q: What would you like to do when you retire from coaching?

A: The game's such a big part of my life, I certainly see myself staying involved in the game, but second to that or outside of that, leadership and cultural change is something I could offer the private sector.

Q: Hi Coach. How have Taberner and Apeness been going this summer and are we likely to see them in the same team with Pavlich at all this year?

A: Both of them have continued to physically develop strength and power and weight, and we're experimenting with three tall forwards which would give them better opportunity to play together.

Q: If you could have any of the current list be able to play forever who would it be?

A: Pavlich.

Q: Will there be any main change ups in positions players play? Will Fyfe be used more as a forward, Walters more in the midfield and where does Apeness fit in?

A: All teams are trying to create more flexibility in the positions their players can play.

Q: Is Cam Sutcliffe the next Corey Enright or is he the first Cam Sutcliffe (will redefine the back pocket player)?

A: The first Cam Sutcliffe.

Q: Hi Ross, is there any chance Zac Clarke could be used at CHF or full forward? He takes a strong mark and has a good kick.

A: Zac's favourite position is the ruck, but he's certainly played a lot forward and will continue to do so.

Q: What do you think of our latest Draftees? Is there one in particular that has stood out to you?

A: The common thread is they've all got some speed and great work ethic, headed by Lachie Weller and Connor Blakely. We expect them to play this year.

Q: Hey Ross, do you reckon travelling every second week means that your players have to be fitter than rest of the teams to deal with it?

A: Not fitter, we have strong management plans and the players mentally must prepare for the challenge. We use no excuse.

Q: What does it take to be an AFL coach? Do you have to be loud? Is it more about motivation or strategy? Love your work Ross, idol of mine.

A: You need to deal with dynamics and mechanics but if you don't get the dynamics right the mechanics are irrelevant.

Q: Hi Ross, what is the most enjoyable part of being an AFL coach on a day to day basis?

A: To see growth in young men on and off the field and see them develop behaviours and traits that they'll be able to apply in the rest of their life for a long time.

GREATER WESTERN SYDNEY - LEON CAMERON

Q: What's been the main focus this pre season with still such a young list?

A: A combination of building on our running ability and our strength in the gym.

Q: Given your midfield has gained an All-Australian quality player in Ryan Griffen, who do you expect to make way in the midfield rotations? Will guys like Whitfield and Kelly play through the mids, or on a flank?

A: Midfield spots have become very competitive like other parts of the ground which is great for our young team.

Q: Congratulations Leon on your achievements so far. Will we see more boundary coaching this year?

A: Could be a combination of both depending on how the team is placed.

Q: How well has Toby Greene's preseason been, and what role will he take this year? Thanks Leon.

A: Great pre-season, has done over 90% of the work and will play midfield.

Q: Is Tom Scully best suited to playing on the wing?

A: Tom could play a number of positions in our midfield but probably had his best period on the wing last year.

Q: Do you see Hoskin-Elliott getting more midfield time as he gets older?

A: Definitely more midfield time as well as being flexible in our forward line.

Q: Who do you think is an underrated player at the Giants?

A: Probably Adam Kennedy and Tom Bugg don't get the recognition they deserve.

Q: How can you make sure Jeremy Cameron can play at his best this year?

A: Keeping him healthy and fit, which he is at the moment.

Q: Having gone from one win to six last year, what's the expectation for this season? What would be the benchmark for a successful season? Looking forward to seeing the year unfold, exciting times ahead for the mighty Giants. #HereComeTheGiants

A: Expectation is to be more competitive for longer, thus winning more games.

Q: How’s Scully going? Will he be fit for round one? Will Jack Steele play in round one?

A: Tom's coming off an ankle injury. He should be ready for round one. Jack is progressing really well. Looking forward to practice matches.

Q: If you had to name 1 player that we should keep an eye on during the NAB challenge, who would it be?

A: Nathan Wilson.

Q: Can we expect Tomlinson to play deeper inside 50, or will he resume his usual high half-forward role and McCartney or Stewart take Patton's place while he's out?

A: Tomlinson will play a number of positions and Stewart and McCarthy are progressing really well.

Q: Who is training the house down?

A: Adam Treloar, Devon Smith, Ryan Griffen having good pre-seasons. Josh Kelly as well as Matt Buntine. Happy with our list at the moment.

Q: Who is looking the most exciting leading up to round one?

A: Heath Shaw's had a great preseason but generally, most of the players have exceeded expectations.

Q: Can you see Rhys Palmer returning to the form that won him a NAB Rising Star award in his first season at Fremantle?

A: Rhys had a very productive year playing forward last year. He's had another solid preseason and looking forward to his continued improvement this year.

Q: Do you think the general Jon Patton will play this year? And will Ryan Griffen play round 1?

A: Definitely Ryan Griffen to play round one and Jon Patton's rehab has been outstanding and should resume around the middle of the year.

Q: What are you most keen to see change this season?

A: Continue to build a better defensive team as well as better ball movement in general.

MELBOURNE - PAUL ROOS

Q: Hi Paul, how much different is the training load on players now than when you coached at the Swans?

A: I think all clubs' training loads have certainly gone up in the off-season due to the restricted interchange and sub rule; we're now starting to see the adjustment coming from teams and the demands of training increasingly significantly.

Q: What are your goals for the 2015 season?

A: One of our main goals is to just play more consistent football. I found even though we improved in 2014, there were quarters of halves of games where we dropped off dramatically, and certainly to finish off the season with 18 losses, we need to address that going into season 2015.

Q: Where is your favourite Australian and international holiday destination?

A: Favourite Australian destination would be, now that I live in Melbourne, Sydney. And favourite international destination would be Hawaii.

Q: How's Simon Goodwin going Roosy?

A: Simon has been an outstanding addition to the football club. His knowledge and experience from being captain of the Crows and assistant coach at Essendon has been invaluable to me as a senior coach. He's already established great relationships with players, and is really driving standards at the football club.

Q: As an AFL coach (and in my opinion one of the best), you would have worked with many talented leaders – what qualities does it take to take charge and lead people who are also leaders?

A: I think it has to start with understanding if you yourself don't have a good work ethic, and aren't a good role model, it's hard to lead other people. You must have very high standards for yourself in order for people to follow you.

Q: What do you see as our weaknesses that we need to work on headed into the season?

A: I felt defensively we improved significantly in 2014, but we were unable to score, so the big focus for us is getting the balance right to be a good defensive team, but clearly we need to be more attacking when we win the ball.

Q: Do you think Neville Jetta will become the indigenous mentor at Melbourne and progress to the leadership group in the future?

A: Nev's improvement in the past 12 months has been dramatic. He will be now considered one of the most trusted members of the team and I’m looking forward to him having a very good season 2015.

Q: Will we see Lumumba playing more in the backline or in the middle of the ground?

A: I think a combination of both; he has been working with the midfield group and the defensive group. Certainly his size around the stoppages is a big advantage, but also his run off half-back is something that we will look forward to him adding to our football club.

Q: Who do you think is primed for a big year?

A: I think the exciting thing for Melbourne fans is that every player has the ability to improve, we have a pretty young team and that has been the focus for the coaches.

Q: Roosy, we have a bunch of big men pushing for spots. Gawn, Jamar, Spencer and Fitzy all look good coming through pre-season. Are there plans to fit them all into the starting 22 for a match if they all are playing well?

A: I agree that all those boys are having really good pre-seasons. I certainly don't have any preconceived ideas of who will and won't play. But I would say it will be difficult to play all four of them in the same team.

Q: Paul, do think your team can play finals this year?

A: Difficult question to answer, we are really focused on trying to instil a finals-type brand of football, and it will depend on how quickly the players can respond, and how well the coaches can get their message across.

Q: American sports have played a huge role in the way our game is now played. How do you ensure you are at the cutting edge of the next trend in modern football without losing focus on now?

A: That's probably the balance that every club is faced with. What wins in the immediate future, and what are the trends that are going to win in the medium to longer term. Most clubs now spend a lot of time scouting and watching other sports and trying to pick up what may be the next new thing in football.

Q: You have transitioned the Melbourne Football Club’s brand of footy into a very defensive and patient one. Do you expect your football club to become more aggressive and attacking with the addition of Lumumba?

A: There is no doubt we identified speed and run as a priority in the trade period, and to pick up Lumumba and Garlett was a real positive for where we want to head as a football team.

Q: Roosy, where do you see Cam Pedersen and Jack Fitzpatrick at this year? Will Pedo go down back and be a swingman?

A: Pedersen played some very good football last year as a forward-ruckman and we've worked really hard with him on his consistency. Fitzy worked his way into the team in the back end of the year, but similar to Pedo, he needs to become more consistent to play regular senior football.

Q: Hey Paul, Jeremy Howe has shown he can play forward and be an option, played his best season in the middle under Neeld, and was solid down back last year! What position do you see Howe playing predominantly this season?

A: We've tried to train Jeremy with the defensive group this year; we've felt he played some terrific football down there last year without having the training pre-2014 season. So the goal would be to start him in defence and give him the best chance to have a good year in that position.

Q: Who is more likely to see more game time Petracca or Brayshaw?

A: Our expectations for both players is to train hard and get really good habits. If they both learn and listen and develop quickly, then they are a chance to play this year like all of our listed players.

NORTH MELBOURNE - BRAD SCOTT

Q: Hi Brad, big fans of your work over here. How do you think training will go today without your expertise? Kind regards, NMFC.

A: We run a really collaborative coaching department at North, and I'm really fortunate to have quality experienced assistant coaches that can steer the ship when I'm away. It's another example of the many facets of senior coaching - it's not just coaching.

Q: Any players still recovering from injuries/surgery that won't come up for the NAB Challenge?

A: Aaron Mullett won't play; he just had shoulder surgery, probably due back Round 6 or 7 of the AFL season. Other than that, most are transitioning back into training.

Q: How has Wells been tracking this pre-season after his foot troubles last year?

A: We've taken a really cautious approach with Daniel, but he's completed most sessions and is looking as good as ever.

Q: What is the main area you are looking to become stronger in over the pre-season?

A: The balance between defence and attack.

Q: Which players who haven't had much senior experience do you see taking the next step this season?

A: Trent Dumont has had a great preparation, and is one of the few players to have not made his senior AFL debut as yet. Daniel Currie continues to put the pressure on Todd Goldstein in the ruck.

Q: Where do you think the club can improve to go one game better in 2015?

A: We've got a significant gap to close on the best teams in the competition. Hawthorn is strong across all lines and has a great balance of attack and defence, and that's the challenge for us to match them.

Q: Who is our first year player to watch in 2015? And is your plan to play Waite forward, back or swing depending on game situation?

A: Sam Durdin is a player we rated extremely highly in the draft; at 198cm he can play key forward and key back, but like all big guys will take time to develop. I wouldn't discount him playing senior football though. We see Waite predominantly as a key forward.

Q: Can we expect to see Luke McDonald as more of a midfielder this year or will he spend some more time cutting his teeth is the back half?

A: A mix of both for Luke this year.

Q: Where do you see Shaun Higgins playing most of his footy this season?

A: Flexibility is his strength; we'll start him in the midfield and go from there.

Q: How much mental toughness is required to be a coach of a professional football side, and is it more so than when you were on the field?

A: Resilience has to be a key attribute for both players and coaches, without it you can't be sustainably successful at either.

Q: Do you feel that you have an over abundance of tall forwards on the list? What is your strategy to manage these young talls?

A: The advantage of securing Jarrad Waite as a free agent is that we could confidently recruit a key position player with our first two picks in the draft, and give them time to develop.

Q: Toughest player you've ever played against?

A: Nathan Buckley, unbelievable drive to win.

Q: Who looks likely to replace Greenwood’s role or will players be moved through there?

A: Ryan Bastinac was starved for opportunity last year because of Greenwood's good form. His pre-season is suggesting that he won't let this opportunity slip.

Q: If you could have any player from any club play for you who would it be and why?

A: Gary Ablett, still without peer in the competition.

PORT ADELAIDE - KEN HINKLEY

Q: Hi Ken, what aspects of the move to playing matches at Adelaide Oval have helped with the revival of the team's performance (compared to at AAMI stadium)?

A: The whole Adelaide Oval move has been great for our whole club. The members, the players, for everyone involved in football in South Australia it's been massive.

Q: The most important question is how are you going to beat Hawthorn? Let’s be honest they have improved their list and they are still hungry.

A: We've just got to improve in all areas of our game, and that gives us our best chance.

Q: Who do you feel are the three most damaging opposition players in the competition?

A: Gary is pretty damaging. Buddy Franklin single-handedly did some damage to us in a game last year in Sydney, and I think Luke Hodge as a leader is just one of the most damaging leaders in the comp, probably nearly the most.

Q: Have you put a larger emphasis on disposal efficiency and will having more tall options help disposal inside 50?

A: We rate enormously our ability to use the ball and maintain the ball, but having said that we take some risks that we won't go away from, disposal efficiency won't be the be all and end all. I think at times an extra tall will be an advantage for us, and we look forward to seeing what that is.

Q: If you ever have to miss any games will you get your twin brother Leon Moloney to fill in so nobody notices?

A: Leon would be too busy to do my job.

Q: In your opinion, what’s the most important part to coaching at the elite level?

A: The connection between player and coach in my view has to be real. I think players need to understand the coach's motivation is about them being as good as they can possibly be first and foremost.

Q: Patrick Ryder is a great inclusion, how will Lobbe and Ryder co-exist in the same team?

A: Like everyone I'm excited and interested. Stay tuned!

Q: Which team do you believe will be the biggest threat in the premiership this season?

A: I think the two Grand Final teams last year deserve to be viewed by most as the two most likely again.

Q: Colquhoun and Redden are 2 players we'd all like to hear about, and when their expected returns are.

A: Sam's nine and half months in from an ACL, so he's still got a little bit to go, but doing well. And Reddo hasn't played footy for nearly two years now but he's back on the track which is really exciting for us because we know he's got some real ability.

Q: What role do you expect Johann Wagner to play at the Maggies? Forward? Wing?

A: I think initially Yoey is coming to terms with AFL footy, and I think his best position will be high half-forward.

Q: In your time at the club which game do you consider to be your best win?

A: We've had some exciting wins, but you always mark them on your finals performance. So our finals wins are the ones I consider the best.

Q: With the talented list Port Adelaide has today, do we have what it takes to contend with the likes of Fremantle, Hawthorn and Sydney?

A: We have got the energy to bring the effort, I'm sure we can compete with anyone in the competition.

Q: How is John Butcher coming along this pre-season, and can we expect to see him in the line up?

A: John's had a really strong pre-season. He's done the most in pre-season this year than he's done in any other year, so we look forward to John making the most of that.

Q: How are you going to squeeze so many quality forwards into one forward line?

A: Form picks itself, so the best form will get in.

Q: Hi Ken. How is Nathan Krakouer going and can we expect to see him playing senior football this season?

A: Nathan's having a really strong pre-season, and his training form suggests he'll have an impact for us in 2015.

Q: What do you most admire about your fellow club leaders Boaky, KT and Kochie?

A: I love their genuineness. Their commitment to the football club is unquestionable.

Q: Will Jarman Impey play the same role as last year? Would love to see him run off half back and dominate with inside 50s.

A: We expect Jarman to improve on last year, and we certainly will give him every opportunity to play wherever the team needs him.

Q: How good is Ollie Wines going to be?

A: Great start to his career, if he continues to have a good run at it, he'll have a really good career.

RICHMOND - DAMIEN HARDWICK

Q: Hey Dimma - what are your expectations for Ben Lennon in 2015?

A: We think Ben will be an improved player for us this year.

Q: Dimma, can we play Maric, Griff and Vickery all in the same squad. I don’t want any of them squeezed out.

A: We'd like to think so, but the situation is we've got to pick the forward line that kicks the most goals. We'll have a look all options in the NAB Challenge.

Q: Will McBean play a role this year and has he added any size?

A: I'd be disappointed if he didn't. He's added significant size since he arrived at the club.

Q: Hey Dimma - how is Ricky Petterd going this pre-season? Do you think you'll keep him around midfield-forward or do you have another role in mind?

A: Ricky's had a great pre-season, the strength of Ricky is his flexibility so he has to be prepared to play mid, back and forward.

Q: Who in your eyes will be the best replacement at this stage to take Jake King’s spot as a small forward this year?

A: To the first one, we'd like to think we've recruited well over the last couple of years to fulfil this role. Those players will get an opportunity to cement a place from round one in the NAB Challenge.

Q: Good luck for the season, Dimma. Will we see a McKenzie/McBean forward duo in a couple of years?

A: Both are going well this pre-season and both have shown signs of improvement, be great to see how they both perform in NAB Challenge if selected.

Q: Good luck for the year Dimma, just wondering where you see Brett Deledio and Dustin Martin spending most of their time this year?

A: We'd like to see Dusty more through the midfield this year. Brett we thought had a great second half of the year playing more forward so will be similar this year.

Q: Out of the new recruits which is most likely to have a senior impact this year?

A: They've all been really impressive and all have shown signs that they at some stage will be pushing for selection.

Q: Hi Damien, will Matt McDonough be playing forward and will he be in best 22?

A: He will be playing forward and has had a really good pre-season thus far. As for the best 22, that's in Matt's court.

Q: Will the boys stop kicking sideways and backwards and handballing all the time this year? I’d like to not have so many heart attacks.

A: Do you know who the number one backwards kicking side is? Hawthorn!

Q: Is it true you are trying to get Shaun Hampson to take Megan Gale’s name when they marry in the hope he is inspired to the great heights of Brendon?

A: Leave the jokes to the funny blokes!

Q: What are your thoughts on Connor Menadue? Apparently his super quick?

A: Not only is Connor super quick, he also looks a quality player. He's a real student of the game, and we've been really impressed with his work rate.

Q: G’day Damien! Are there many niggling injuries amongst the team or are most of the boys doing full pre-season training?

A: Most are doing a full pre-season. This time of year is full of niggles for most sides as we enter game playing scenarios.

Q: Will Ben Griffiths be an important player this season/have a big role?

A: We'd hope so. We thought he made significant improvement last year and looking for him to take another step this year.

Q: Will Chris Knights be in our best 22 if injury free?

A: Chris is having as good a pre-season as he's had. We're starting to see the return of Chris to his best form. Look forward to seeing him play early NAB Challenge.

Q: What can Richmond fans look forward to this season?

A: Winning!

ST KILDA - ALAN RICHARDSON

Q: What is exciting you about season 2015?

A: What's exciting me is the attitude of our young playing group, in particular the way they have embraced what has been a very challenging conditioning program. Obviously the inclusion of another quality batch of draftees stimulates not only fans but coaches and players alike.

Q: What will Eli Templeton's role be this year?

A: Eli played predominantly as a small/negating forward in his six games last year, and was very impressive. Our plan is for Eli to play much more on the wing in 2015, going really well after what was a very bad broken arm.

Q: Hi there Alan, is there any chance that Ahmed Saad and Paddy McCartin are going to play round 1?

A: Yes. Depending on their physical preparation, their form and their understanding of their role. There is a chance that our front half will have a significantly different look with those players, plus Membrey, possibly one of the rucks putting their hand up to play forward, Jack Lonie is another that has been impressive as a small, crumbing forward at this early stage.

Q: Hi Alan, will Jack Billings move more into the midfield this year?

A: Yes. Jack has worked very hard on his running capacity and has been impressive at this early stage in his midfield training. Will still be used, not unlike last year, as a forward. But I would hope that he would be able to add about 25% more game time through the midfield.

Q: Which youngsters are most likely to play early in the year?

A: To be honest, all our young players from this year's draft are all going really well. It'll depend on their lead-up in the preparation stage, but certainly our fans have not seen a lot of Blake Acres drafted last year, and my expectation is that he'll play significant footy early on in the year.

Q: Hey Al! I would just like to know what your vision is for the next 4 years. Also how will you utilise Riewoldt? More up the ground and leave the 50 for Membrey and Lee?

A: Our list build strategy should see us challenging at the end of that four-year period. So clearly we need to progress accordingly until that period. We will become more aggressive in the free agency/trade space over that period. Not unlike this year, Roo will play as our higher forward, allowing for the growth of players like Lee, White, Membrey and McCartin.

Q: G'day Alan! What's the best piece of advice you have to a young coach like myself on coaching under 18s?

A: To formulate a simple but stimulating gameplan with clear and accountable non-negotiables/team rules. To be organised at training and remember that your role as a coach at junior level is to ensure that they grow, that they enjoy and that they come back the following year.

Q: Hi Richo! As a proud Saints member I am extremely happy with everything since you have arrived at the Saints on and off the field, I would as thousands of other Saints members/fans would love to see you here for a very, very long time is this something you would take on board? Silly question but just wanted to let you know we are all behind you and the boys! #fortiusquofidelius

A: Thanks for such a positive message. Really enjoying the challenge, proud of the strong decisions/direction our club has taken, and look forward to being here until we win one.

Q: How has Spencer White and Tom Lee put in the pre-season? Obviously they are two important players that we need improvement from, and do you need a runner for the 2015 season as I’m available?

A: Both Tom and Spencer have had good pre-seasons. Tom in particular has finally had some luck with his body and barely missed a session, so I'm really looking forward to seeing how he performs in the NAB Challenge. Spencer still has another level to find with respect to his running capacity, but he also is heading in the right direction. Thanks for the offer, but at this stage we're ok on the runner front!

Q: Hey mate, how is Hugh Goddard going? Any chance of him lining up round 1?

A: Hugh's going very well. He's a very competitive and ambitious young man. It certainly won't be through lack of want or commitment that he won't be there early. He's in a part of the ground where we have a bit of experience (Fisher, Delaney, Dempster, Gilbert etc) so that makes it a little tougher, but long term he has the potential to be a very good player.

Q: How much time is young Paddy spending with Roo and who else is he learning from?

A: He's spending a lot of time with Roo. Roo has just joined in training, so now there is a lot of explicit forward line conversation and education happening. Prior to that, the conversation was around preparation and what's required to be an elite AFL player. He is doing a lot of work with our forward line coach Aaron Hamill.

Q: Hi Richo, is there room in the 22 to play both Longer and Hicks or does that make us to top heavy with Paddy and Roo up forward?

A: Very good question. Time will tell. At this stage comfortable with both boys' ability in the ruck, but clearly need to put their hand up as a forward. Always a challenge to put on pressure in the front half if too tall, but if catching the ball, that's not an issue.

Q: Jason Holmes to make an appearance this season? How are his skills coming along?

A: Jason is a real chance to play initially in the NAB Challenge, as a rookie he needs a long-term injury to be elevated to the primary list for the season proper, but I couldn't be more pleased with his progress. His marking and kicking is certainly coming along, he's definitely heading in the right direction.

WESTERN BULLDOGS - LUKE BEVERIDGE

Q: Hi Luke, just wondering what position you see Marcus Bontempelli playing this season? More time in midfield or forward? Has he has a good pre season?

A: Hi Mike, Bonti will play mid and forward. He is in terrific condition and is bordering on key position dimensions. He should be hard to play against both in the air and at ground level.

Q: What roles do you see versatile smalls Lachie Hunter, Mitch Honeychurch and Luke Dahlhaus playing this year?

A: Hi Nathan, it is really important that the three boys you mention spend some time in the midfield as well as up forward. Throw in Nathan Hrovat and we have a pretty formidable mosquito fleet!

Q: Morning Luke, congratulations on your appointment. Will Joel Hamling get a permanent job down back for the Doggies? And can or will we see more protection for young Libba from the other midfielders? Thanks.

A: Hi David, Joel is learning to play as an important part of our defence. He has many strengths and once he acclimatises to the duration and intensity of an AFL game he should be a very good AFL player. He isn't a lock though as he has some competition. Libba will definitely have more support from his team-mates in the midfield!

Q: How's Clay Smith looking after such a bad run with injuries?

A: Hi Kyle, Clay is frustrated as he is fit and strong and wants to be involved in everything. We are holding him back as we need to give him the required time to make sure he is totally ready for another assault on what will be a very powerful showing in the Doggies colours.

Q: Hey Luke. Congrats on the job! I am keen to hear about Matt Fuller and Caleb Daniel. Do you see either or both breaking into the senior team in 2015?

A: Hi Paul, Matt's having a strong pre-season and is doing everything he can to earn a spot. Caleb has really impressed us with how naturally he has adapted to our training, as have all of our new boys!

Q: Hi Luke - which of the first year draftees do you see having an impact early? Caleb Daniel’s name keeps popping up as being physically ready. Cheers and good luck in 2015! Go Dogs!

A: Hi Michael, I don't really want to forecast who but I will say that every one of our new recruits has been very resilient in getting through their training and performing at a very encouraging level in our match simulation.

Q: Are Roberts and Talia a lock in for the back 6?

A: They're two candidates who are having very good pre-seasons. We need a couple to support Roughie and Joel Hamling is another player who is going well!

Out of all the whispers and rumors going around this has to be one of the most informative bits of information going around. Looking forward to what the remainder of the coaches have to say! :)
