As you all probably know, we have a lot of very good fantasy coaches here at SCS, including multiple winners of the BBL fantasy competition. Just how good a team we could put together if all these good coaches worked together? Time to find out.

This year I have decided to use my BBL entry as a combined SCS team. I will ask for input on everything about this - selections, trades, even the name, and the most popular consensus picks from here will be used. I won't be creating another team myself, so this will be an official entry.

As I have zero interest in profiting from this, any prize money this team may happen to win will be returned to the site in full to help keep this site going. Any non-cash prizes will be auctioned off and the cash value returned in full. It's highly unlikely, however if a large amount of cash is won, I'll put the full amount towards a future SCS get together or other suggestion of the leadership team.

I highly encourage everyone to participate regularly, the more people who participate, the better this will be. Success isn't everything, this is purely to be a bit of fun for everyone. Naturally the aim is still to create a team getting the best result possible, but if it doesn't happen, I still want everyone to enjoy the experience. I expect people to make your selections for the best of the team, and not to sabotage it in any way by deliberately picking bad players. It's intended to be something we can all enjoy working together on, and I hope everyone keeps that in mind. Obviously not all of your selections will be used - that's fine, it will be the same for everyone else too.

I will reserve the next post for the current team, which I hope will be able to be kept reasonably up to date at all times for quick reference (I will need someone from the leadership team to help update this post whenever I post a team update - thank you in advance for this). Keep checking the later posts in the topic, as I cannot edit posts once 24 hours have passed, so there are likely times where a more recent version of the team will be posted later in the topic instead.

Post 3 will have more details regarding the initial selections for this team. Keep checking back though, as there will obviously be more choices required as we go.

Hopefully we can all have a bit of fun with this, and maybe if everything goes right even claim the title together! Anything is possible.

Good luck, and enjoy!

The first decision we need to make is a team name.

I find the best fantasy names include puns, so whoever can suggest the best cricket themed pun name will get the honour of naming the team. Please keep this to 18 characters or less (including spaces), as I believe this is the limit. The most popular options (based on number of likes) will be included in a poll to determine the final team name.

We will also need a full shield design for the team. Please choose a shield colour, ring and pattern colour from the options below, as well as a shield design. The most popular options will be selected (it will likely be difficult to get consensus, I know). Be generic with colour selections, "blue" is fine for now, rather than a specific blue, we have time to narrow it down further. :)

Colour options:

Pattern options:

These selections will be open until Monday night 8 PM Eastern DST. Hoping to get these preliminary options out of the way so we can get onto the fun job of team selections!

Hopefully that's all clear. In summary we need:

Team name.
Shield colour.
Shield ring colour.
Shield pattern colour.
Shield pattern design.

Thanks, and have fun!

Just to kick off some ideas input and get others creative juices flowing. I am thinking along the lines of having the SCS initialism, so I propose Salty Couch Sangha. As for colours, maybe from those colours in the SCS banner, so blue, red and black.

I wasn't planning on entering leagues, except for whatever public league it gets entered into, but happy to join any if that is what people want to do. :)
Just a gag, given the expectation of a lot of great collective minds might form an unbeatable collective.

Winning leagues doesn’t mean much to me in any format, outside those invested with cash.

Good concept nonetheless, should be fun to watch it unfold.

48 hours left for entries on the following:

Team name:
Salty Couch Sangha (5 likes)

Shield colour:
Blue/Red/Black - 1

Shield ring colour:
Blue/Red/Black - 1

Shield pattern colour:
Blue/Red/Black - 1

Shield pattern design:
No entries yet.

Hopefully you give me a bit more to include in the update tomorrow...

Feel free to suggest for one, multiple or all of the five categories. The rate this is going, there's a good chance we'll just be running with @Diabolical's team - possibly not a bad thing after last year. :)

I feel @Bermi could be best-placed to come up with an aesthetically pleasing combination from the options available.
I had a play around using the colours mentioned above (........maybe from those colours in the SCS banner, so blue, red and black......).
I personally like the colours, and the shield pattern design, to have some relevant meaning.

For the shield design, I like the woven design, as to me, it symbolises the interweaving of you Coaches working together. I also don't mind the 'double V' design, symbolising more that 1 Coach being victorious.

Just some suggestions below that I like. I can play around with other colours, and designs, if you wish.

(If I had a vote, it would be No1, because I like the clashing colours causing an optical illusion. (On my PC monitor it does)).

I'll try some combinations with a grey:
(If you decide on any of my combinations, I can tell you the exact colours that I used, as some of the blacks are not pure black).

Thanks to Francis, Darkie and Bermi for your contributions. Much appreciated.

Not exactly much to add to my update from last night (you can see it in the previous 4 posts). Around 22.5 hours now to contribute any more options for the team name / shield (even support for existing suggestions).

I honestly thought there would be a bit more interest in this, but guess I was wrong. Hopefully there are a few more responses once I open team selections or this topic will be a total failure. I guess there is either reluctance to join in so far for some reason, or just a lack of interest. I am hoping it is the former...

In hindsight, I guess maybe I should have just picked the name / shield design myself, but as this team is meant to be a collaborative effort, I thought that would kind of ruin the point of this.

There's no such thing as a dumb suggestion here, so if you are interested at all in this, I'd love to hear from you.

Thanks.

It may just be me, but I reckon this might be like picking a team name at a trivia night … I know it’s not my forte, so I’m happy to leave it to those more creative than I am, but my lack of input into that component should not be taken as an indicator of my interest in the contest itself!

For what it’s worth, I like Bermi’s rationale on the patterns for the shield (both the woven design and the dual V), and would order my preferences 1, 7, 2 and 8.

Can I suggest this probably has something to do with it.

This is it essentially, really isnt that much to discuss 50 days out from a tournament, I've wondered for a while why they bother opening so early to be honest.

Thanks, that's actually a good point. For some reason I thought the BBL started just after the T20 world cup ends in mid November, I didn't check on the start date. Not a huge cricket fan to be honest, but I know a lot here are.

There has been a reasonable amount of discussion on the BBL thread, so figured there'd be enough people interested to start it, but if I had of realised it was still nearly two months away, I probably would have held off for at least a few weeks. I think I might put this on hold for now until near the end of the T20 WC, but still happy to take any more suggestions people have.
