How many games will Blicavs actually play? Is only like 5th inline there in the ruck hierarchy, when either one of McIntosh, Vardy, Simpson or West return then he's surely gone?

I'm scared it will be like Big Orren last year, simply there for back up purposes only and think he will struggle to get to 7 games played before the real ruckmen take over. I got burnt by going for Big Orren last year and was stuck for him for sometime just to make some cash.

This. Combined with the awkward RUC/MID dpp, I just can't take the risk.

I'm surprised at the player change in categorisation 4 days before the SuperCoach season starts, but I'm more surprised that Blicav beat Naitanui as the first MID/RUCK ever!

Note: Cannot be Floating Donut as no partner!!? LOL

These comments are off the cuff, but I think Blicav is the fourth in line for the ruck and apparently was an elite athlete even before he tried out AFL. Heard of the radio this morning that Bartel is amazed by this transformation to the AFL.

HE is tempting but I may refrain from jumping the gun. His DPP is useless to us. Rowe's DPP to FWD makes him a better prospect and Currie will get to 3 games quicker. As soon as West or Hmac are back he is gone and will tease us by being stuck on 2 games. Floating donut another story

Does anyone have a R4 that is likely to get games? Blicav's a contender for my R4 position as much as anyone else. Currie, Rowe & Daw are likely to play limited games. I can't find the article, but I recall reading how Chris Scott said there's never been a big man in AFL that can run like Blicav. NicNat is a freak, but maybe Blicav's extra run around the ground could see him play a similar role and play as both ruck and midfielder at the same time? With the ball being thrown up around the ground at stoppages, Blicav should be able to get to more of them.

Am interested to get opinions of Cats fan in particular who are more likely to have seen him play.

I agree. Natanui seems to always play in the middle far more than as a forward.

For some good insight into how the cats rate Blicavs, go to the cats website and look at Chris Scott's post match interview after the weekend Collingwood match. He talks about Blicavs from about 1:29 on.

In addition, FWIW - Blicavs 118SC and 84DT against Pies with 73% game time

He'll play a couple of early games while Hmac, West and Vardy are eased back, but then I reckon he will find himself on the outer. A worthy R4 though.

Haha i had been wondering all pre season why a 198cm player who is a FWD/RUC was named as a midfielder great to see SC fixed it. I think he will score pretty well when he plays and Scott is a huge fan of the guy but once Vardy, McIntosh and West are in the side their will be no room for him you would think

Have to disagree. The cats will need to play Blicavs as much as they can afford to. If they are travelling well they will play him - as Chris Scott says: even when the big guys come back. Why? Because the cats are a good chance to play finals. What if they get to the finals and once again have Macintosh, West, Vardy and Simpson all injured? It's a very likely possibility. Their only fallback position is Blicavs and Walker and they won't even have that if they don't play those guys through the year - especially Blicavs.

I think the only things that will stop Geelong from playing Blicavs a fair amount are if Geelong lose some early games or if Blicavs' form wanes rapidly. Given his athletic background, that seems unlikely.

I agree, may find a spot as R4 for me.
For the record I cannot believe SC made a player positional change, let alone it being 4 days out from round 1. Has it ever happened before?
