Happy New SuperCoach Season!

The site has officially opened today (24/1/17) and the excitement is building. For those whose pre-season started in about August 2016 it can't come soon enough, but for everyone else it is like the final Christmas present has finally arrived in the post.

The Coaches Choice Awards are for the most popular players according to SC Gold, and people seemed to enjoy reading last season so I am bringing it back to life like a smelly old zombie.

I have broken players into the their respective positions and in the case of DPP players, I have placed them in the position where I think they 'should' be selected (tends to be pure mids stay in the mids, any /M are moved to the other respective line). Percentages are rounded up or down depending on the closest whole number to their 0.5.

Please also enjoy the smattering of fabulously funny nicknames I have included :)

So, as the day closes on the opening day of SC 2017, who is in the early lead for the Coaches Choice Awards?!

I had to double check that figure on Heppell as I couldn't believe he was so high. Now at 28%. Have not seen him mentioned much at all here other than by me! Was there a HS article on him? Potentially all the casual coaches have gotten on board him or he must be highly rated on some other SC forums.

I would have thought the top 10 rucks would add up to between 200% and 300%, but they actually only sum to 112% ... What am I missing? Even if you added Ryder and Strnadica (potentially picked as forwards) it doesn't get close ... ?

I think it works out because some of the R/Fs like Boyd (12%), Cameron (10%) aren't on the list and there are a lot of <2% ones. Everyone has a free gold trial to begin with so you can have a look at the ruck ownership on the SC site.

6 Mids
2 of top 3 Rucks
2 Fwds

Yep, B18 has it.

I looked closely at including the rucks in the ruck line no matter what their dpp, but in the end decided that most people would be playing a R/F in the fwd line, so that is where they ended up. It won't be perfect of course as some people will put Cameron in a R3 - I will keep an eye on it.

6. McGrath (32%) - 39%
7. Scottishsuitcase (30%) - 38%
8. SPP (28%) - 29%
9. Beams (27%) - 30%
10. Adams (26%) - 30%

Swallow now up to 33%
Roughy 29%
Sandi 29%
Shaw 29%
notables Heppell 25% and Heeney 26%. Thought Heeney would be higher and Hep lower.

Prem Mids starting to look a little thin with Swallow/Beams right up there.

I originally had Beams/Swallow @ m6/7 however now have 7 prem mids. Expect I will dial this back to 6 to go back to 3 pre fwds (had dropped Heeney).

Thanks guys - it's surprising that so many early coaches (who I assume largely know what they're doing) are picking such POD rucks, but there you go!

Strangely I don't seem to be able to access these stats ... I actually paid for Gold last year, and can see that I have a free trial that is active from Jan 24, but when I go to the Players page, the Picked % Team column is blank, and on the Most Popular Players screen it says "Most popular players will be published on the completion of round 1".

Is there anither spot you're looking at?

Turn on filters and then select coaches choice at the bottom.
Select Players on left hand bar, then gold choices come up including coaches choices. if you then select filters you can reduce list.

Can I also add, the team behind creating super coach often cop a bit of abuse for how it is set out every year, etc etc.

Thought they have really stepped up this year with archives for players (can now see weekly SC score and against whom) and also our own history. Makes analysis significantly better.

Thanks gents, I think I've now figured out two things:

(1) How to access this info - thanks for the tip. Seems odd that this info displays in one area but not the other, but that's kind of irrelevant now I can access it :)

(2) The rucks do add up to far less than 300%, even if you include all of the R-F options as rucks. I've drawn the conclusion that there must be a lot of incomplete teams saved - the "average" player only has about 2 1/2 rucks selects at this stage, including Ryder and the like who seem more likely to be forwards.
