I have been a member of SCS for a few years now, and although I believe our official leagues (both free and cash) offer an enormous amount of competition and are always very competitive, I have always thought that a system of leagues with promotion and relegation between leagues over multiple seasons would be a fun concept. As this doesn't (yet) exist, I thought I'd set up a non-official set of leagues myself.

For this initial season, rather than allocating users into leagues myself, everyone will have a chance to be entered into the most appropriate league once leagues kick off in 2023. To do this, I have set up a group in SuperCoach (refer below), and based on the results of this group, this will determine your initial 2023 league. The top ranking teams in the group based on overall ranking will be entered into the top tier league in 2023, the next highest ranking teams into the second tier league etc. With each season after that, strong results in a league will earn you promotion into a higher league, poor seasons will see you relegated into a lower league.

The exact details of promotion and relegation between leagues and the number of 2023 leagues will be determined based on however many entries are received this year. I'll provide more information on this at a later date. I'm expecting there will also be inter-league competitions each season so you are not just playing the same teams repeatedly - for those familiar with English soccer, think FA Cup, where even those in the lowest leagues get a chance to match up against the strongest teams if they can win through. I do have a few other ideas too. Trust me, it'll be enjoyable. ;)

Note that if you enter this competition, it is clearly expected that you will return in future years to join the relevant league you are placed into each season. For this reason, entry into this competition will require that you have made a minimum of 10 posts on SCS before joining, to show that you have at least some commitment to being a regular part of the community. If you don't quite meet the posting requirements as a new user, but are still interested in joining, there are plenty of great topics here to post in to meet this requirement and you are more than encouraged to participate however you can. Trust me, it's a great community to be a part of, by far the best site on the internet for fantasy sports fans, especially SuperCoach, and we always welcome new users here!

How to enter:

Simply post in this topic here with your 2022 SuperCoach team name and also join the following group on SuperCoach:

SCS P&R Qualifiers
https://supercoach.heraldsun.com.au/afl/classic/?action=join-group&code=961411

Once SuperCoach reopens for the 2023 season, I will send you a message here on SCS advising which league you will join as your initial league with the relevant league code, which will be based on your standings in this group in 2022. I'm expecting a few people will probably not show up each season, so this assignment of leagues will need to be a bit flexible, however I'll deal with that as best as I can. New entrants will also be welcome each year, however I'd strongly recommend joining this year if you are at all interested.

Any teams which I cannot identify through posts in this topic will be removed from the group, even if I recognise who it is. Please post in this topic with your team name and don't just join the group without posting. Also please remember to also join the group if you post, otherwise you will not be entered. Any teams which do not meet the posting requirement will also be removed from the group, although I will give you a couple of days grace to meet the posting requirement before I remove your team.

Here's to what I hope to be the first of many years of fun competition!

Feel free to ask any questions and I'll be more than happy to answer.

For those who may not be sure, this is an AFL SuperCoach competition. I'm guessing you have probably worked this out, but thought I would clarify it. :)

(Note to the moderators: please advise if there are any concerns with this. My intent with this is to encourage some friendly competition and also to encourage more participation in the SCS community. I am not claiming this to be an officially sanctioned SCS competition in any way and I am happy to drop SCS from the group/league titles if requested to do so.)

Happy for you to do it, and happy for it to have a SCS tag.
Maybe us SCSPRL to differentiate form the other SCS Leagues.
SCSPRL1, SCSPRL2 etc, or whatever you want.
