The umpiring standard has definitely dropped this year. And in that situation maybe the boundary umpire should be allowed to step in.
For some reason I thought with the fourth umpire introduced they were going to position an umpire near the boundary line to view the play from the boundary in towards the centre of the ground. This was to reduce missed frees that can occur when umpires are in the inner field area and missed incidents near the boundary. I must be wrong. Have seen umpires in this position at stoppages sometimes but during play they rarely seem be in that spot. Plenty of free kicks still being missed. TV highlighted a player pulled to the ground by his shorts last night while a kick at goal was taking place. No free. But we had four umps missing it. Umpiring has not improved this year.

: Calves are interesting ones. I’ve done calves in the first half and I can play the rest of the game. It depends where you do the injury in your calf. If it’s a tendon that’s along the grain - if you want to call it. You can still play on a calf. A hamstring you can’t. When I hurt my calf this time it was against Melbourne and probably happened in the third quarter and I was able to play #AFLDogsCats

There are two muscles which make up the "calf" and three which make up the "hamstring" . So, which of the muscles and where within the muscle will determine the ability to finish a game and how long a recovery period is required.

And then there are Quads...........

Think I did 3 different muscles in my quad one season of cricket. Was so frustrating as all had different restrictions. None of them were ever done bowling funnily enough. All in the field or running between wickets.
