An amendment was recently introduced (hidden in fine print) that before grading the conduct, impact or contact, that affiliation either currently or previously to Hawthorn is frowned upon and attracts significant penalties.

Surprised as I thought he might get a week given the message being sent. Probably given benefit of the doubt given arms weren’t pinned and no concussion.

It will be interesting to see if Sicily gets any leniency, but he did hold on longer and it did have worse consequences, so guessing he still cops a couple.

Stunned Merrett got off vs Sicily in many ways. Merrett looked two actions and grabbed the defensive arm to tilt him down. think as outcome ok they dont want to fight it. Sicily way lower and whilst a spinning action he is so much lower that it is not him driving him into the ground, just thats the outcome.

I don't think I have ever had a big enough weekly score to worry about checking my weekly rank 🙄😥

I believe it is top 20K overall that are tracked.

I rarely need to check either, fluked a good week once or twice though.

About 5 times today, we've seen guys standing up in the tackle, ball held to them, but they're still trying to run, to break the tackle. No attempt to get rid of it. That should negate prior opportunity. Free kick for holding the ball. If you don't pay the free 2 things happen. You're giving the guy with the ball 2 bites at the cherry. Or you're basically forcing the tackler to sling him, or drag him to ground heavily.
How about this?
Get rid of no prior opportunity. Every single tackle that causes a stoppage results in a free kick. Illegal tackles penalized, all others rewarded. Result? Players will dispose of the ball more, and more quickly. A lot less stoppages. Game more open and free flowing, which is what just about every rule change in the past 10 years has wanted to achieve!!!
