After the hiatus of last year when I was on an overseas holiday during the AFL finals I do intend to run a finals comp this year. However I am torn between running the AFL Finals Golf comp again or a new concept that I will explain below. I thought I might trial the new concept during round 24 and then make a call on which way I go based on how that trial goes. Therefore I am seeking interested parties to participate in that trial this weekend.
Now when I say a new concept it is only new to AFL because it would be similar to the competition I ran for the last BBL finals series except it would be 18 players rather than 11 as follows.
New Finals Concept which I am calling "AFL Elite 18 Finals Comp"
- The objective is to build the highest scoring team of 18 players across the 9 games of the final series.
- For each game 2 defenders, 2 midfielders, 1 ruck and 2 forwards will be selected.
- That means across the 9 games a total of 18 defs, mids & fwds and 9 rucks will be selected.
- The final team of 18 would comprise the following.
- 6 highest scores for defenders
- 5 highest scores for midfields
- 1 highest score for rucks
- 6 highest scores for forwards
- Note however that any single player can only be used once in the final 18 players.
- To avoid any doubt there is no captain so no double points scorer.
Like the comps of a similar nature I have run before in BBL this comp is designed to be less frustrating in that only 18 of 63 scores will count so low scores by selected players are not as costly.
I you would like to participate in the trial this weekend then please post in this thread. I will set up a google form to capture selections.
Happy to take any queries.
