Personally, I don't have a problem with this take. I do think they were the best team all year, but I can see an easy argument for Melbourne or Brisbane being better overall during the finals. If Melbourne kicked straight, they were arguably going into the Grand Final and would've been favourites against Brisbane.
In the context of Ginnivan though, it makes sense for them to keep him for now. 20 years old with a 40+ goal season already under his belt and his morale would be high after being included in the grand final team. One more year with Schultz included will be a good 'feeling out' season for him and Collingwood, which makes any decision much clearer. If he does leave, he would be a good, ready-made addition to our forward line.
