I promise that I'm not saying this to be salty, but Collingwood really didn't impress me that much in the second half of the h & a season and the finals. They were fantastic in the first half of the year, and were good enough to win the flag, but honestly, I thought the Demons and the Lions were better teams. I think the Demons cost themselves with kicking and the Lions cost themselves with slow ball movement on Grand Final day.

They also have quite a few more 30+ year olds than one might think on their list:

I say all this only because I don't think that Collingwood are as well positioned to go back to back as everyone seems to think.
Personally, I don't have a problem with this take. I do think they were the best team all year, but I can see an easy argument for Melbourne or Brisbane being better overall during the finals. If Melbourne kicked straight, they were arguably going into the Grand Final and would've been favourites against Brisbane.

In the context of Ginnivan though, it makes sense for them to keep him for now. 20 years old with a 40+ goal season already under his belt and his morale would be high after being included in the grand final team. One more year with Schultz included will be a good 'feeling out' season for him and Collingwood, which makes any decision much clearer. If he does leave, he would be a good, ready-made addition to our forward line.

I'll have to watch Ginnivan a little more closely next year.
