Exactly. Haven't liked him much while at the Pies, but if he joins the Hawks I'll probably change my mind pretty quickly. Bit of baggage, but hopefully a club change can straighten him up a bit. We can definitely do with a few more forward options.
The heir to Puopolo's throne as the most genuinely unlikeable player in the league now at the same club, albeit feels like a lot more contenders in the current AFL than Puopolo had!

Bit silly from Sweet... Just goes from being English's back-up at the Dogs to Maric's back-up at the Power.
I love that you've gone retro on the Tigers Ivan by using his cousin :)

Sweet needs a better agent.

Bit harsh on Poppy. I liked him anyway. :)

I think the Hawks had spoken to D'Ambrossio, seems a good talent, not surprised Essendon picked him first though. Think he might be one of the better picks from this draft from the little I've seen of the various players.
Just going back to my thoughts on the 2022 mid season draft, I thought I remembered liking D’Ambrosio at the time (even if I spelt his name wrong back then). Good to see he made it to the right club eventually. (y)

So, what's the thinking on which traded/FA players will be SC relevant? For the tiges related players I expect Bigoa to slot in as a viable rookie option if he gets named, Soldo should make ~100k as ports new ruck 1 but the ruck position is so crowded it's probably not worth the lesser production compared to the big names, but the cheap cost and later upgrade could work for some teams. I don't think Kozzie is worth it at his cost/position either.

Coffield should be cheaper than his 208k this year. If he's fit should be best 22.

HAWTHORN has delisted Lachie Bramble, Fergus Greene and Ned Long less than 24 hours after bringing four fresh players in during the Continental Tyres AFL Trade Period.

The Hawks completed deals for forwards Jack Gunston, Jack Ginnivan and Mabior Chol on Deadline Day and also added former Essendon rookie Massimo D'Ambrosio in the last minutes of Thursday's trade window.

Greene, a former Western Bulldogs, kicked 15 goals from 11 games after joining the Hawks as a delisted free agent at the end of 2022.

NORTH Melbourne has moved to axe another three players, delisting Kayne Turner, Aiden Bonar and Jack Mahony.

The trio won't be offered contracts for 2024, joining Jacob Edwards, Flynn Perez, Phoenix Spicer and Lachie Young in being delisted.

Ben Cunnington, Aaron Hall, Daniel Howe and Jack Ziebell retired, while Todd Goldstein and Ben McKay left the club as free agents.

"Kayne made a significant contribution across his almost 10 years at Arden Street, highlighted by his recent induction as a life member of the club and two seasons in the leadership group," North general manager of football Todd Viney said.

"He always had a team-first attitude, and we thank him for his dedication to North Melbourne.

"We also thank Jack and Aiden for all their efforts and their dedication to our program during their three years here.

"These decisions are never easy to make, and we wish all three men the best for their future endeavours."

The Kangaroos brought Dylan Stephens, Zac Fisher and Bigoa Nyuon in during the Continental Tyres AFL Trade Period, while they also signed ex-Swans rookie Toby Pink as a delisted free agent.

BRISBANE has delisted three players, including rugged midfielder Rhys Mathieson.

Mathieson, who played 72 games across eight seasons, was unable to break into the Lions' senior team in 2023 as it pushed towards a Grand Final.

Untried small forwards Blake Coleman and Darryl McDowell-White jnr – son of triple premiership player Darryl White – have also not been offered contracts for next season.

Brisbane football manager Danny Daly said Mathieson, known affectionately as 'Beast Mode', had played an integral role in helping the Lions climb from the bottom after he was drafted in late 2015.

"He has been a much-loved member of the club and popular with our fans due to the type of person he has been on and off the field and we are grateful for his time here," Daly said.

"Blake and 'DJ' are two players who had some real talent, but unfortunately due to the club having so many strong forwards at AFL level they were not able to push their way into the team."

The trio of delistings follow the retirements of Marcus Adams, Daniel Rich and Nakia Cockatoo.

Brisbane also farewelled Tom Fullarton (Melbourne) and Jack Gunston (Hawthorn) during the Continental Tyres AFL Trade Period, while welcoming recruits Tom Doedee and Brandon Ryan.
