Josh Rock with an epic choke versus Wade
Was it really an epic choke and what defines an epic choke? Was it moreso Wade’s clutch than Rock’s choke?

Wade had the throw on the 28th and 30th leg. Finished with a checkout percentage of 64% (16/25) to Rock’s 41.67% (15/36). Tough for an opponent to cross the finishing line especially if their opponent ups their scoring or doesn’t miss at double. 3 of those last four legs were 15 or less darts by Wade and bar the last leg, Rock only had one opportunity at double, a missed double top in the 29th leg, since the score went 12-15. Therefore Rock has to finish within 12 or less darts against throw if Wade keeps pegging in 15 or less on throw.

Wade is one of only a select few that you do not want to face in this type of situation and it was moreso his clinical finishing and experience that won out in the end rather than Rock choking. Rock knew the importance of the visit and seemed to deviate from his usual routine by taking longer or pausing before the last dart which heaps extra pressure on and thus try too hard. Expect him to take a different approach next time he finds himself in this type of situation again.

Prakash Jiwa, Andy Jenkins and Jack Main have been suspended by the DRA over suspicious betting patterns on matches in the Modus Super Series.

The trio have been suspended from attending or competing in DRA sanctioned events whilst an investigation is conducted.

There are two separate enquiries, one involving Jiwa and Jenkins and the other involving Main. The players have the right to appeal the suspension.

Jiwa most recently featured in the Modus Super Series in June and withdrew from the event on June 2 due to ‘unforeseen circumstances’.

The 53-year-old came through the Indian Qualifier to reach this year’s PDC World Championship, which gets under way next month, but the suspension now puts his participation at Ally Pally in serious doubt.

Jenkins, a former PDC World Championship semi-finalist, has competed in the Modus Super Series in numerous occasions, most recently in July.

Earlier this month, the 52-year-old won a World Seniors Open Series event and is ranked third on the WSDT Order of Merit.

The matches under investigation involving Jiwa and Jenkins are yet to be confirmed.

On June 9, 2023, the International Betting Integrity Association reported suspicious betting on the match between Main and Lisa Ashton in the Modus Super Series. There is no suggestion that Ashton was involved in manipulating the outcome of the match in any way.

After an investigation, DRA Chairman Nigel Mawer decided that Main has a case to answer for breaches of the DRA betting rules and has subsequently been suspended from attending or competing in DRA sanctioned events until the conclusion of the hearing.

The matter will be referred to the DRA Disciplinary Committee where a formal hearing will take place at a date to be confirmed.

Main, 27, held a PDC Tour Card from 2021-2022 and has competed on the PDC Challenge Tour this year.

The Modus Super Series is an independently run, live streamed and televised event in Portsmouth held each week.

The event carries an annual prize fund of around £1 million, with 12 players will competing in group matches from Monday to Friday and six qualifiers moving into ‘Finals Night’ each Saturday.

Every 13 weeks, a ‘Champions Week’ takes place to determine the overall winner from the 12 weekly winners as they compete for a £20,000 top prize.
