Using a lot of information from the site and doing my own research into the byes schedule, I’ve landed on something I’m relatively happy with.

Ginbey is a speculative pick as I’m hoping he will have a bigger engine moving into his 2nd season.

Darcy probably a POD pick compared to most people’s Grawndy ruck setups.

Ginbey is a mountain of a lad I like the pick, could easily make 125k. The midfield mix at WCE will be one of interest to me during preseason.

I’m honestly not sure, just going from what I’ve seen from the draft comments that were made:

Would be surprising if they don’t give a no.7 draft pick a crack early on. Melbourne have been one of the better teams at blooding their rookies in recent years, so I guess it’s a bit of hope more than anything.

Interesting that alot of people are going light down back, risk is somewhat minimised with best 18 and DPP's to come but the likelihood that Williams,Chapman,Coffield and Gibcus hold together for 6 weeks has to be pretty low, haven't played 5 games straight for ages.
Agree with this. Given the current lack of solid top end picks in the Fwd line going light there seems to be the better option. I'm looking at four keepers in Def at the moment and likely two rookies.

Early days I was keen on loading up in the backline, but now I think we end up getting a few MP and rookies that are capable of good scoring.
Stewart been a gun for a while now, little discount baked in thanks to that early injury game last season.
Haven't seen many without Young, helped me get over the line in draft last year with that mid move. Looking forward to more of that.
Hoping Chapman fills the Young sized void in the freo backline, will probably move him on if it looks like he ends up being a winger.
Zwill too cheap to pass up, still don't understand why he got a such a large discount.
Rookies are typically placeholders, but if we get Coffield and Hore named they are genuine chances of being 70+ PPG players.

Bont the best, perma C option, don't care about the forward chat, Bevo loves to move the magnets but they aren't short of fwd marking targets any more. Hopefully gets his Brownlow this year.
I've never had an enjoyable experience owning Butters, I'm either getting that this year, or taking everyone down with me when he inevitably gets injured while in my side again.
LDU ceiling is just too high, missed a few last year but 20 or more the 2 years before that. Don't think the North young blokes take that big a step to impact him yet, really like the VC/C options between him and Bont early days.
Brayshaw or Serong is a coin flip, Brayshaw served me well last year so he's in at the moment.
Haven't been burnt by Steele before so willing to give him a chance. Been a lot of analysis on him recently, reckon he'll come good.
I am on the Amon train, I hate picking a bloke and hoping he gets DPP at round 6, feels so wrong, but just keeps ticking a lot of boxes.

Don't need to say anything about the rucks, happy to cop the double byes, the value is too good.

Macrae autopicked because there's a lack of options across the fwdline.
Flanders the only other R0 player I'm willing to take due to possible upside, not married to the pick by any extent, not even gonna bother try guessing what Dimma does to the GC mid mix.
Lynch and Billings my pick of the midpricers at the moment, Billings actually has the potential to be a keeper with the right role and health given how stinky the fwds are early. Either could be flipped to anyone that looks good in PS/R0.

I’ve played around with a few different structures but keeping landing on this one.

This is the most confident I’ve been on a starting team ever to be honest. I think the fixture has helped me lock in the premiums I want nice and early.

Gawn, Grundy and Flanders are all must haves for me with Daicos, Walsh and Miller all post bye upgrades at this stage.

Surprised at Brayshaw only being in 11% of teams but hope he stays this low!!!

I was going to do a write up on this earlier today but didn’t have time. This year I’m looking to try and go for the tried and trusted players whilst also looking for value on all lines. Last year I went a bit too POD by starting guys like Cripps and Ridley which failed terribly but others did go well such as Dawson.

Defence, pretty stock standard except for no Daicos. I think there’s merit in not starting him. I don’t think he’ll get any cheaper but I don’t think we’ll be paying much more for him either. With the bye I think it’s ok to wait and pick him up as the first upgrade. I think Sicily will still be fine, I don’t think Amon affects him as others have mentioned, still went big even when Amon moved down there last year (only poor score was when Ford tagged him for 50 odd). Chapman is free if at HB but will pass if on a wing and use cash to upgrade other lines. I think it’s also ok to go a bit thin in defence as of right now as they look to have the most promising rookies but we’ll just have to see what other ones pop up on other lines.

Midfield, Butters, LDU and Green I can see being top 10 mids, they all have had their injury concerns but really who doesn’t, most players end up carrying something throughout the year. Walsh and Brayshaw should be close to that top 10 and have a lot of value in them. Toss up right now between Green and Daicos but like the WCE and NTH run of Green over potential Daicos tag. They should still average pretty similar anyway though, Daicos probably more. Amon my only real speculative pick but I think he can be a serviceable D6 and at worst is a bye flip. Averaged over 105 in same role last year.

Rucks, Gawn and Grundy pick themselves, I don’t mind Xerri either which could be the go to upgrade other lines.

Forwards, where do I start here. Flanders is the only value one I can see if Hardwick gives him the keys. Macrae will most likely be top 6 but I’d rather use his cash to get a better premo on another line and see who else gets DPP through out the year. Can’t see him getting too much more expensive in the same role. The rest are pretty much just placeholders at the moment. Fisher could be ok in the role but is just a very average footballer. Interrupted pre season already as well. I also like Lynch who could be the Curnow of this year. Am I crazy to even consider Jesse Hogan of all players, WCE and NTH first up, a few good scores, quick cash grab and sideways at his bye. Who knows with the forwards this year.

50 days to go

Deliberately using higher priced players on the bench until the rookie picture is clearer

Houston , Ridley , Young , Chapman , Williams , Curtin * / O'Sullivan , Gibcus

Daicos * , Dawson , Brayshaw , Rozee , Steele , Reid * , McKercher , Watson * / Sanders , Windsor * , Rogers

Gawn , Grundy / Conway

Macrae * , Lynch , Billings , Walter , Duursma * , Emmett / Taberner , Caddy

It's actually $ 4k over the Salary Cap by using Conway

I don’t mind it. You have the same defensive premiums and ruck premiums as me. I have LDU instead of Daicos in the mids (which could help you find that $4k!). As for forwards, Duursma looks our only overlap! I have Flanders and Jackson instead of Macrae.

I don't think I can not start Daicos even with that Round 5 Bye , don't mind LDU though , hopefully he stays on the park

If 2 rookies have mooeed enough by Round 6 still might be short of cash to upgrade one of Billings , Chapman , Lynch or Williams (may not have increased enough themselves in any case) to Daicos , not sure , so may as well just start him.

Even though we have 40 trades , 2 down and 1 up just to "dodge" a Bye score (just will need a good 19th & 20th player to cover him and Grundy) that early seems a bit wasteful , will need to do some calculations later on down the track.

Or just start a different premium without a early Bye then plan to get Daicos in ASAP 🤗

Pretty confident that bench won't be my starting bench (the rookies always show 😀 , hopefully Round zero gives us a free look at some rookies) so should be right trying to find the $4k.

Lots of interesting cheapies D & F when scrolling through the prices.

I do need to start doing a lot more research on players though.

...If 2 rookies have moeed enough by Round 6...
I know this is a typo, but you definitely don't want your rookies to Moe - neither the Gippsland town or the Simpsons character would be a great result. :ROFLMAO:

(I'm sure anyone familiar with the town of Moe would agree).

I do like your overall strategy though. Easier to drop a rookie down if you need a bit of cash than having to sacrifice a premium to upgrade a bottom priced non playing rookie.
