Hello

As Jenny Morris once famously said 'Youre Gonna Get Hurt'.
I feel Soldo will do it to me, but I can not resist temptation.
The usual villians have been selected and I have gone a 11 premium setup.
  • 4 x Backs
  • 5 x Midfield
  • 2 x Ruck (I have counted Soldo)
Keeping a balance - $99,300 incase of any emergencies.....

Hey Lads hope you’re well.

Got this atm, 12K ITB. Green is there over Walsh because I intend to trade Naicos at round 4 to Walsh, want to have Green and Walsh both early and Green has the better early fixtures to start with north and Eagles . Issue is if it means I have to trade Naicos, Walsh would be the better pick independently View attachment 67231
Nice team mate. Expect nothing less at this time of year. The $50k is yours. Spend it now! Where is the Bont mate? Oh, he's in my team. This must be draft....

I think the 11 Structure is too conservative this year. The 8 Uber premiums are nice, but think you can splash some of the case on some more value options. Or even stash some more cash. One of my best seasons, (due to a late out) I took in 1/4 of Million. If I can swing that again I just might do it.

Think the spread out to 15/16 non rookies will see a bit more play this season. Seeing a lot of good coaches lean that way. Games more and more like fantasy every year.

Why not just start Walsh if you plan to trade Daicos early? Already have plenty C choices early and every chance Walsh matches him over that month. I’m not sure Naicos is the auto pick most have him pencilled in for.

Money saved lets you get upto Jordon from Culley too. Unless you’re hot on Culley?

Cracker side either way mate, 2024 might be the year for you with lots of coaches with a bit of uncertainty how to play the byes.

Haha Bont I don’t mind given no bye but yeah just reckon he’s a bit expensive, think his avg this year is in between last year and his previous best with Dunkley in the side, back to 125 I reckon, makes him not great value for mine. Prefer starting Daicos for the C reasons then trading before Finn tag

Cheers Russ,
Just reckon there’s a bit of value in starting Daicos then trading to Walsh. Gets the good C scores for Daicos for 3 weeks, avoids Walsh’s bye and gets you out of Daicos hard 3 weeks and onto a value player in Walsh who I think does 115 this season. If I don’t start Naicos then I probably go Walsh over Green.

With Culley it’s just that I like his job security and price relative to Jordon. Think Jordon is fine on his own but the Jordon and Billings pair feels risky as both seem like fringe 22 players to me and liable to being subbed out or on. Guess I could be convinced by news and performances in preseason and start both

I'm probably going to leave Daicos. Draw isn't ideal for him early coupled with the bye and looked in some discomfort with work being done on his groin in training, I'm always weary about groins. Certainly would want to see a strong finish to the pre-season and play full minutes of pre-season games.

I'm not sure Culley will be there early season, he did his ACL in round 8 last season.

Another minor tweak, Jackson to Martin. Still undecided on Daicos. If he's killing pre-season maybe I change him up for Brayshaw but his early bye is a negative.

Really only running with Gawn and Grundy from the early byes as premiums, Dusty is a role watch, I still might go with a Harmes type at F1, just is nothing forward I like and this looks like where the rookies might be but still too early.

Sicily and Stewart - both guns and can post big numbers. Sheezel is al class, and to think this will be just his second season but no doubt they will want Sheezel involved so they'll look to get the ball in his hands regardless where he plays.

Bont - captain, Laird I think will return to big numbers and consistency, Brayshaw, Butters and LDU natural improvement, I do worry about LDU's body though.

Gawn and Grundy my main concerns but the value is hard to ignore.

I need some M/F and D/M links just to give some flexibility, especially if going with 5+ rookie forwards, maybe Finn Macrae in the midfield but I'm not sure he makes best 22.

Doubt it will be realistic with $ 1,203,600.00 remaining for 10 players

Sicily , Stewart , Houston , Young , Chapman + 3

Bont , Dawson , Butters , Brayshaw , Reid * , McKercher , Sanders , Curtin * + 3

Gawn , Grundy / Maley *

Daniel * , Moore , Lynch , Fyfe * + 4

Trim Chapman to Williams , Fyfe to Billings depending on which Rookies are named Round 1

12 keepers/premiums
3 stepping stones
15 rookies

At what price did you buy in?

Is it wise to be overly emotional and decrease the talent pool with a never again list? Does anyone actually keep a copy of their list and continually update it or is it a turn of phrase that has no meaning? A player looked at me funny so I better add him to the list. Back in dickety-dickety, we had to say dickety cause that Kaiser had stolen our word twenty. Purchased Player X at peak price at the end of his purple patch cause of FOMO whilst conflating bad luck with poor decision making. An injury to a player which we cannot control or foresee and so on.

Best to establish price ranges in which you are willing to purchase a player. Eg you feel Daniel is high variation with a low ceiling to warrant a 500,000+ investment so you wait to consider until in the low 400,000 price range rather than overpaying for perceived security in his position or overreacting to his form over the last few matches when his price starts to climb.

What does it take for a player to be removed from a never again list? Do they need to hit a certain average over an extended period of time to come back into consideration?

Might be time to start playing around with a forward over $300,000 setup as I have exhausted most cheap forward variations.

I do like Curtin in the mids if the intention is to flick Himmelberg and Kelly at their RD3 bye to hopefully Flanders and another fwd premium as it provides plenty of options for early trades and structural readjustments.

It's another way to look at it in terms of approaching the early byes. Trade into premiums or start with fewer bye premiums. I got burnt last year, like many in terms of thinking the increased number of trades would see me through the season well. Probably going to be a little cautious early this season. I like HH and Kelly, Oliver could be a good POD but I'm weary of his mental state, some have off-field issues but he was borderline off the rails from what I read.

Burgoyne is one I didn't consider and didn't realise Sexton was so cheap.

Thanks

As emotional beings we are not very good at Supercoach, a pure statistical approach with no player bias one way or the other would fair well I reckon.
