Another iteration after practice matches

Nice team….like the selection of Martin with murmurs of the new half back role….he had a purple patch mid last year of scoring and has potentialy to generate some early cash…
Jordan intersting pick…will be keen to see how he fits into the swans pecking order in the midfield….

My current team that seems to change daily.
Happy with most of my selections, although I'm on a massive Fyfe watch today. (Yes, I'm totally aware of the risk.)
16 players under 225k should be able to generate handy cash.
Having a total of 13 players from North, Freo, and the Bulldogs is a little concerning though.

Like the Parish selection….word is he is flying this pre season and is the standout…

How the current version of my team looks. Been toying around with it a fair bit this week and I’ve finally settled on this one…

It feels weird having 5 premiums in the backline but I’m pretty they’ll all be top 10 by end of year and with the lack of rookies with on field scoring potential it makes sense to stack this line. Williams was set and forget in my side until now… He just screams “sub risk” to me, even more so than Fyfe!

Four premiums who I’m confident will be top 10 in the midfield followed by four rookies who appear to have decent on field scoring potential.

Rucks speak for themselves.

Flanders and Fyfe have locked themselves into my team after their practice matches and similarly to my midfield, the following four rookies I have on field, I believe should score decently.

A team like this could be the way to go. If your on field rookies and Fyfe are correct, you are laughing. I just feel it may be too top heavy, and needs a little "value" in there somewhere, to get to 13 keepers, but I do like it.

Nice team PNC - what's the deal with Roberts? I've seen him in a few teams, what role do we expect to see him in and scoring potential? Is he best 22?
He’s been training as a half back over summer and like everyone “has been training the house down”. From all reports he played well without setting the house on fire against GWS in last weeks practice match and he’s on the top of my watch list this week!

I don’t think scoring will be an issue for him it’s whether or not he’s best 22!

He was a sub risk during the start of last season and when given the opportunity punched out a 93. Unfortunately got injured the week after, so we didn’t see him get a good run at it. If he’s a starter in rd0, I’m very keen to plop him in as M9-10

Thanks, Juzzo!

It’s always hard getting the high end premiums in throughout the season so I’d rather start them and use the 40 trades this season to my advantage by trading hard early, loading up on fallen premiums or players who’ve had a hot start! Hopefully the 12 premiums I’ve started with are in the top handful of players in their respective positions and starting them allows me to get a step ahead of the pack!

It’s obviously a risk, especially if the likes of Steele, Martin, Coleman etc. start like a house on fire but for the time being, I’m happy sticking to the good ol’ fashion “guns and rooks” approach (with Fyfe obviously)!

No Bont or #35, very Bold Non Selection.
Something to note about the dogs is that they replaced all their assistant coaches. Hard to believe that doesn't include a full review of the game plan. I'm willing to bet against the Bont and English seperating themselves from the pack like they did last year.

I'm running something like this at the moment... Laird might turn into Dawson and Brayshaw could be Serong.

I could also get too scared with this FWD line and restructure everything in a panic 4min before lockout

I feel like pick your favourite out of Miller and Steele, drop the other to a rookie and see if you can get Duursma up to a premium. Duursma looks like the prototype skinny rookie at this point I am not sure we can expect high scoring. Unless you think otherwise? If he is your F3 going at 45 that's not a good outcome. Even say Miller to Harmes would get you Duursma to Adams.

What $ value does high end premium start at?

Well when you say it like that, it all feels too real. Great point, thanks for replying legend

Lazzaro priced at 180 and running through the midfield would be a better pick than Duursma (if Lazzaro is named rd 1). He has been the hype man out of Arden St this preseason. Personally im not sure if his disposal is good enough but looks like he might get a chance to prove me wrong and does have a great role for scoring.

I also like the idea of having Fyfe at F1 and there are a few of the other 200k players you haven’t picked. Billings, Harmes, Jordon etc who if you believe they have the right scoring potential could beef up the line a bit. Could also consider D’Ambrosio down back for one of the four premos.

Overall though if the rookies are named Fyfe at F1 is a viable strategy.

Yes, it is a crazy time at the Dogs. I can only imagine the tension around the club. The players will take no notice and stick with Mr Magnets and the Bont will continue to do Bont things on the field.

You could bet against one but both, it would cause sleepless nights for me. Like a few weeks back i took #35 out of the team before bedtime, woke up at 2.17am and put him back into the team.

English, well he has not been in the team at any time.

I’d be cautious about the opportunity cost and sunk cost of starting five premium defenders from six available onfield spots, relative to what you could afford on other lines. What do you do if one or multiple get off to a slow start or if a restructure is necessary, as this would be the prime position to release funds to be redistributed to other lines and thus locking in as many potential top 10 defenders doesn’t matter if they do not last the season? If the top few players from the position dip and the top 10 becomes more bunched, is there any advantage in locking as many from the start, if you are playing for overall?

Other than that, hard to fault many of the selections.
