Also pondering what to do with Grundy following Sweet's performance last night - at some point it seems inevitable that I'll trade him out for English, and maybe now is as good a time as any? Is there consensus that English will average say 10 points more than Grundy rest of season?

OR....am I better off upgrading elsewhere for the time being? Still eyeing off Dale, Martin, Whitfield or even Luke Ryan as M4 premo in my team after whiffing on Dawson last night, or upgrading at M8 for a full premo midfield (Zerrett, Trac, Dunkley are options for me here as already have Rowell, Green, and will most likely have to deal with either of both of Steele and Rozee next week)
Upgrade elsewhere.

I think Grundy/Xerri/Meek owners are in a great spot - play them over Sweet's average score this round and then get another free look at Sweet against Geelong Friday night next week.

If Sweet plays average again, just keep holding your R2 (y)

Now that Sweet doesn't appear to be R2 calibre I'm thinking that $38k for English from Grundy seems a bargain. However, it is a bit sideways and, while erratic, Grundy hasn't gone badly overall.
Be careful with drawing conclusions from last night because ROB is tough for all coaches to score against. Sweet had a similar AF score from the week before when he went massive. Issues with DE and a couple of clangers. Remember Green having that issue for a couple of weeks but his AF stats were still high.
74 is OK for a rookie given most rookies are not getting that ceiling of AF points.
He would only be R2 for 3 or so more weeks. If he can have 74 as a floor and knock out one more big score then that's going to match any other rookie you have on field in that time.

Upgrade elsewhere. Keep the premium count going up and worry about luxury premium moves once your team is set and you know how many trades you have left and what your bench cover is like.

I am mulling that trade to. It's going to happen at some stage this year.

Very true. I appreciate the wisdom. Good luck with the round.

Worth flagging the below for anyone relying too heavily on teamsheets. This is Collingwood’s on afl.com.au (can’t post an image for some reason).

Nick Daicos is playing centre half back. Could be bad for his scoring. We can only assume that he’s been training in the position, so he would have been pitted against renowned centre half forward John Noble.

I don’t think all teamsheets are like this, but some of them are garbage. If looking to rely on one, it may be prudent to check the last few from the relevant team, to see if they make sense and have proven representative.

Last year I went and watched the Collingwood v St Kilda Gather round match , focused on where Daicos started at CB , yep it was at the "old styled" CHB position and then runs in to join general play , depending on which side of play the game goes to , the defensive winger then drops back to join the Defence.

Small sample size of watching one game live admittedly.

Actually think team sheets with listed starting positions serve very little purpose these days with the modem game.

I've got him but I would love to see him lining up on Harry McKay!!

Even the actual starting positions themselves are almost irrelevant these days. They may as well just list defence, midfield and forwards.

Counterpoint - I locked in Sweet for Cadman via Livingstone, spent last night running around for my daughter's choir, got home to find I've basically locked in a donut because both F7 and F8 got dropped. Also annoyed right now, basically takes any straight upgrades off the table this week.

Now I'm stuck offloading Tunstill (thought we'd keep him in given our poor performances, give the kid a chance) for Rogers or Jones, or hunting a keeper for < $340k (ha!).
Sweet makes 94 k this week - still makes loads after… should I still get him in - oh wait I’m still in denial mode…

Correct

Probably were redundant even before 6-6-6 came in.

Split the ground in thirds and give them bibs to wear 😉

Always fascinating though reading the comments each and every round that such and such is named here.

Current team after using one trade to bring in Sweet for Brown (Richmond) via Comben.

$189k ITB which actually limits my upgrade options more than I thought.

Basically has to be either Comben (BE 55) up to say a Dale. If I want to go the premo option, I'd need to cull Powell or Grundy. Was intially thinking to hold Powell one more week given the outs for North, and happy to hold Grundy at R2...but now not so sure.

Comben to Dale seems like the most logical choice here - are there any other obvious upgrades I'm missing here?

I see Dale as more of a money grab which is fine if you are happy with that - given the options down back I doubt you will want to keep him. I have the same issue re Powell - he 'may' be good enough to be a keeper if he gets back to the middle so reluctant to trade him this week given how difficult the forward situation is. (Really regretting trading out Fyfe weeks ago )

Just re-thinking my trades, is Rogers a must have rookie?? Apart from Jones next week I'm not sure if there is a lot of other good downgrades on the horizon.....

My trades were Marshall to Sweet, Dempsey to Rogers & ZWilliams to Dale. Leaves me with $458k in the kitty, but now I'm unsure if i should be doing a double upgrade

Work has blocked Supercoach for a few years now (which is bloody frustrating ) & I can't screenshot my full team

Sheezel, Ryan, Daicos, Dale, Roberts, Graham (Reid & Coffield)

Butters, Serong, Bont, Green, Steele, Walsh, D'Ambrosio, Clohesy (HGarcia, Clark, Rogers)

Gawn, Sweet (Livingstone)

Heeney, Flanders, Powell, Reid, Darcy, Wilson (Berry & Cadman)

Forward line is ordinary but I've been prioritizing mids & backline to upgrade. Powell survives with Phillips dropped.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

I've used two trades already - Marshall and Cadman to Sweet and English - I was hoping to use Meek's money for a genuine upgrade but Sweet didn't do enough. Two boosts left - is it worth using one to boost Massimo to Rogers? Would it depend on whether Jones/Gibson/Hardeman seem like decent options for next week? I'll get a look at their second games before I have to make a decision.

It's a good team, so you'll bank about $460k with these trades?

Have to make a downgrade, Garcia vs Jones a week early? or another rookie? (can't afford rogers)

I like what I saw out of Rogers last week, I think his JS is fairly solid. I'm boosting to bring in both he and Garcia but I do have more cash gen slots than others so need to flip those to upgrade a third slot. If you look at previous years getting a rookie like Rogers at this time of season would be heaven sent. Default play for most teams should be to get him in especially with the near-ton in his scoring. He's a great rookie 2 months into the season.
