The AFL statement supporting the Yeo HTB decision is horrible. It doesn't matter that NM won the game. If WC kick that many points and get themselves that far behind then it is no use going off when you lose.
This is the AFL statement.

The video replay shows Yeo tackles the NM player, both players go to ground as the ball spills free, Yeo picks it up and is tackled immediately.
Yeo does not dive on the ball. The ball is on the ground in front of him. He picks it up and is on his knees when tackled. Yeo does not drag the ball
back in as he never had the ball in the first place to drag it back in.
The field umpires are getting a hammering because the AFL changed the way they apply the rules and they have confused everyone from the coaches, players, fans and their own umpiring team. They have put their onfield umpires in terrible position. But that statement is not supported by the video evidence that I have seen and it looks like a desperate attempt to support the field umpires despite the evidence suggesting otherwise.
