Yeah that hurts, but what's another week I guess?

I've held also for cover so with 20 playing this round not too unhappy
I mean, this was really the week for him to come back. They picked Dylan Stephens after Kallan Dawson was omitted through suspension and are probably pushing Pink back.

Note to self and to anyone else in the future, don't pick any players managed by Clarkson ever again.

With McKercher not being named - going to switch up the trades.
NWM -> Curnow (via Sexton)

Will lose this week regardless and objective is work league rather than overall ranking. Freijah and Sullivan survive a few weeks to try get some more cash post their byes. Get a chance to assess Sexton with Powell returning.

$107.2k ITB and 6 trades remaining if I do the above. M8 to be resolved and potentially D6 depending on Sexton.

Alternatives would be to keep NWM, not use any trades and attack next week, or Sullivan/Freijah/NWM -> McKercher/MID rookie/Merrett (+44k however would have 4 trades left). Not really seeing any DEF or FWD keepers sub 420k.

In fairness to North & Clarko, they were always going to be very conservative with McKercher regarding him coming back. Hugely talented kid, number 2 draft pick that they would hope plays 10+ years for the club. They are not in finals contention, they are in rebuilding phase with their list so I couldn't see him being bought back until absolutely 100% fit. Not surprised in the least, expect he has managed minutes in the VFL this week & could even play VFL the following week just to make sure he is fully fit.

Best mid for M8 spot under 478k?

Green/Rozee/Wardlaw?

Or do I go left field and pick a dpp for that spot and go Salem/Adams?

Green just - with Kelly back & Cogs back soon I think it helps him. He is getting enough of the ball just wasting it - with those 2 in the team he is more inclined to get the ball to them rather than taking on risky kicks that result in clangers.

Have been trying to get Green in for awhile now and almost sold the farm for him at 650k earlier in the season. So at 456k, definitely a bargain. Also headed to Sydney for the weekend and decided to make time for the Giants Vs Swans game too so will have someone other than Heeney to cheer on. Thanks Shannon.

Great post. If one needed one of these rookies to trade in this round, who would you pick? Who would ideally have the biggest JS? And scoring prowess?
The Melb ones are more interesting to me as I'm keen to see who plays in Petracca's role/minutes.

I'm probably not the most reliable when it comes to picking rookies as I took a gamble on Worner last week when he was a late in. Scored well but looks almost certain to be omitted this week. This week I'll be getting Kynan Brown as I only have a mid bench spot available and his dpp will be handy. If you have 18 available, and can afford to bring in Schoenmakers then I'd do that. He looked great last week and had been knocking the door down with huge VFL numbers prior to that.

Tholstrup would be my pick - WA kid that is a huge competitor, loves the tough/contested stuff. Think he gets a chance at Trac's midfield role.

Have you considered trading Moyle and Sullivan instead of Steele?

Moyle to K Brown via C Livingstone and J Dowling with 272k allowing Sullivan to Steele.
Freijah and Fyfe can switch positions as well.
I have had a look at this and it works, but it makes any trades next week very hard as will only leave me with $13K in the bank and 7 trades.

Reckon Tholstrup has the best JS. In terms of scoring power, Tholstrup and Schoenmaker will be similar in my opinion. Obviously if you are in need of players this week Schoenmaker is no good and Tholstrup is your man, and if you would rather not spend 150k, then Schoenmaker looks a fine option if you can field 18 this week.

Tholstrup I'd like to see I reckon. HIs numbers in the VFL don't scream pick me unsighted. Last weeks numbers were good but looks very inconsistent at VFL level which worries me stepping up to AFL. His K:H ratio when he played a game of AFL is a concern for me as it looks to me the pace of the game might get to him compared to the time he has in VFL to kick.

I don't know, but I'd like to see a week or two. It's easy to accumulate bench warmers this time of year which can hurt.

Would be concerned about overpaying for a poor return on investment compared to what you may get from other options under $500,000 and whether the saving may come in handy later on if an injury occurs in another position for an upgrade. I purchased at RD6 and sold at the injury but at his price range and the hamstring having one of the highest recurrence rates, then I would be tempering expectations.

if people are thinking of trading steele this week would it not be better to trade out dawson? much harder draw and a lot more tags incoming
