This stand rule is just a joke at this point. Marshall decides to move 'outside the restriction zone' just as the umpire says stand, and so its a 50mtr penalty. It is sometimes just pot luck as to who makes a decision first. 50mtrs should pure and simply, not be the resulting penalty.
I think they should have two penalties 25m and 50m. That goes a bit against my normal thinking of the less complicated things are the better. However 50m for moving a step on the mark is silly when it has no effect on the outcome of the play. They should have 50m for dangerous actions eg late hit after the kick or head high etc. The "lesser" offences eg running through the mark etc can be 25m. The 50m is way too much for an action like taking one step off the mark in confusing circumstances.

Yep, agree. Also seems a little ironic to me, that the standing the mark rule was to keep the flow of the game going, yet every time they pay it (most times even though there been no impact to the game), they slow the game down, and everyone clogs the backline. Only issue is, the umps don't know how long 15mtrs is most of the time, so how are they going to adjudicate 25mtrs.

WEBSITE UPDATE

Jay has got a I.T guru to do important maintenance on the site. They have reduced the disk storage (100% to 40%), SQL database (100% to 20%) and CPU usage.

If you are experiencing issues outside the normal back up window, it will likely be at your end. Rebooting your computer, or clearing your cache, and/or modem will normally be the fix required (as I had to do this morning).

We thank everyone for their patience this week.
Thanks to the admin's for the website work. It is a lot better now 🙂
