This week has finished me, actually don't care anymore, McKercher injury forced me to get Stewart to avoid a donut and hes been absolutely woeful ever since.

3k off Grundy because I wanted to get Dawson for the extra player and swing to get subbed on 0 🤣, lost 70 on the C when I was at work and didnt see tag mentioned, would have 100% gone to Gawn as I was 50/50 all week.

Green,Miller,Powell,Steele and Walsh all absolutely rubbish.

Dropped 550 spots in a month, feels like playing for nothing at this point and just getting frustrated watching crap over umpired games all weekend.

Barrack against you for the entire year but you continue to punish me... finally able to afford you and you go dish out your worst score of the year. Classic SC.

Ryan you potato! :mad::mad::mad:
I have always wondered why more teams have not pushed a player up to remove Ryan as an exit point. Would not need to totally tag. Just be close enough when the Dockers come out of defence to create doubt as to him being an option. Dockers use the switch very successfully and so much through him. Just place someone close to take him out as an option and suddenly the Dockers can only go up the line to a contest. Opposition coaches clearly don't think letting him do his thing seems to matter but the number of times they get caught on a switch is bewildering.

North Melb.
Not really a rant but today I officially exceeded 5 years since I attended a game that my team actually won. The last North game I went to that we won was when we beat Richmond on 31st May 2019. This one was really hard to take because I allowed myself to believe the drought would be broken.

I don't think my young fella has seen them win (live) in a game that he'd be old enough to remember.

I know a lot is said about Collingwood fans but the ones around us were very gracious at the end, really good spirit in a close victory.

Danger out for a week perhaps. 🤔
No chance, unless he injures himself again. He's a good guy...
Despite the tone of my post over the weekend, I knew there was no way Danger would be rubbed out for that tackle. The tribunal is just as much, if not more about who gets reported rather than the incident itself. I almost guarantee a "lesser" player, rather than someone who is president of the Players Association would have been rubbed out for that tackle, especially for an incident where the tribunal itself said it was "exceptional" to not be rough contact.

Will never ever trade in a player above 600k ever again.:mad::mad:

Gawn - bought at 677k for an average of 96 from 2. This guy pumps out huge scores all year and decided to wait for me to trade him in to get his worst score of the year. Could have bought Grundy back in for 100k less or taken a punt on TDK for 150k less. But told myself, Gawn will punish me if i don't get him. Didn't start him this year because last year he kept screwing me over and pumped out consistent 70s and 90s so I traded him out and he pumps out a 215. Has been the most frustrating pick for me in sc consistently and continues to punish me when I get him and vice versa.

Ryan - bought at 666k for an average of 86 from 2 games. Hadn't dropped below 628k all year and currently is at 607k and about to drop under 600k for the first time this year. What's annoying is I basically traded Young out to fit Ryan in after his seagulling ways. So could have saved a trade and 130k. The most frustrating pick and can see him continue to plummet with freo's change in game plan.

Butters - bought at 639k for an average of 102 from 4 games. Hadn't dropped below 621k all year but has now dropped to 571k. All these recent tags have been annoying but I can see Butters at least doing better for the rest of the year. Just annoyed that we can get him for almost 550k now.

All three punish me all year and said I'd wait for them to get under 600k before I'd get them. Not one gets under 600k. So I break my team and fork out the cash to bring them in classic sc fashion they all revert to being spuds when I bring them in. All 3 likely to get under 600k within a week or two. Should have searched for value and PODs being so far behind.

"All sports are really difficult to officiate, but I think our sport is one of the hardest ones.(1)

"What our focus on is actually just preparing our umpires and making sure we get the processes right and continue to umpire as well as we can.

"It's as good as it's ever been, the umpiring.(2)

"We're in the second year on the four-umpire system as well, so we're on a journey with the four-umpire system." (3)

Dillon said the recent focus on umpiring decisions was a by-product of the closeness of the league.

"The competition is so tight," he said.

"I don't understand why, but there's always been a focus on umpiring — I'm pretty old and it has been around for as long as I've been around and will continue to be.(4)

I am somewhat perplexed by the comments of Dillon in this ABC sport article (this is not the full article and I have cut this segment out in one piece and the numbering is mine)

(1) If it is so difficult why do the AFL continue to introduce more rules and change rule interpretations (often mid season)? It does nothing simplify the game and creates confusion and anger amongst almost everyone in the game. It makes the umpires job so much tougher and makes them the target of abuse. Well done AFL.

(2) If it is good as it has ever been why is everyone talking about the issues with umpiring? As a measuring stick surely no conversation about umpiring or complimentary comments would be the best result.

(3) So the current conversation could infer that umpiring has not improved with the 4 umpire system. So what is next? The 6 umpire system? Umpires IMO need a method of applying the rules that is as simpler and clear as possible. More umpires may pick up some behind play or blind side incidents but does not make the decision they need to make in the millisecond timeframe required any simpler.

(4) He does not understand why there has always been a focus on umpiring. Really? The CEO of the AFL does not understand why umpires and their decisions are the focus of so many people. Whether that focus is fair or reasonable can be questioned but surely you should understand how people can believe so much can hang on the decisions umpires make. A slight condescending smell wafting around that statement.

The AFL would get greater kudos for coming out and saying there are errors and we will continue to learn and educate on interpretations with both umpires and players.
When the AFL come out with lavish statements like the one above or when the footy boss said the no 50 metre ruling made in the Collingwood north game was a correct call….. we lose all respect for those in charge of our once great game…

Nat Fyfe….Didn’t he win a Brownlow? Oh hang on maybe two…
Or is he just a rookie judging by the 39 he got on the weekend? …
Delusional to consider I thought he could be my 23rd premium to keep for the season…

tbf I think he's played a negating role in the midfield the last couple of weeks.

Thought it might be a really fun, and interesting exercise to showcase how well the VC/C options have gone this year.

Rd 1: 135 captain score (VC Daicos)
Rd 2: 136 captain score (C Bont, VC Daicos failed)
Rd 3: 110 captain score (C Bont - VC Daicos failed)
Rd 4: 109 captain score (C Tom Green - VC Butters failed)
Rd 5: 138 captain score (VC Gawn)
Rd 6: 127 captain score (C Butters, VC Marshall failed)
Rd 7: 162 captain score (VC Gawn)
Rd 8: 111 captain score (C Gawn, VC Sheezel failed)
Rd 9: 135 captain score (C Bont, VC Gawn failed)
Rd 10: 127 captain score(C Butters, VC Ryan failed)
Rd 11: 119 captain score, (C Merrett, VC Serong failed)
Rd 12: 156 captain score (VC Daicos)
Rd 13: 132 captain score (C Gawn, VC Bont failed)
Rd 14: 141 captain score (VC Zorko)
Rd 15: 135 captain score (C Merrett, VC Gawn failed)
Rd 16: 116 captain score (C Daicos, VC Zorko failed)
Rd 17: 84 captain score (C Serong, VC Bont failed)

In 17 rounds so far, my VC score has failed to yield a captainable result from 12/17 rounds. There have only been 5 rounds this year, in which I have taken a 120+ VC score.

In the 12 games that I have had to pick a captain because the VC failed, my captain average is 120.

With the VC scores I have taken, they have been popular VC choices and have not necessarily netted any serious gain over competitors. (50%+ VC)

In the 12 games that I have had to pick a captain, 50% of them (6) have resulted in a score of less than 120.

Very much looking forward to getting back to a fantasy format where it isn't a complete and utter coin flip every week.
