Genuine question here. So if Rankine had just gone down but had not been concussed what would the penalty been? Just curious on peoples thoughts.
I'll admit, that comment wasn't entirely serious, I know the original post was as much about SC as anything.

A hit to the head seems to be getting multiple weeks, as it should. Still a bit inconsistent as to how many, but they seem to be getting that bit right. Concussion seems to be adding weeks. I'd say it would have been 3-4 if Rankine was not concussed, as that was not a good look for the game, but who knows.

I guess my thoughts were going down the "is it the action or the result" road. My understanding was he did not get hit in the head by Houston- it was Rankine hitting the ground that was the cause of the concussion. Clearly the result is the defining factor.

If Rankine had not been concussed, then for mine Houston should have had nothing to answer for. But that is just me.

Nothing….the fact it wasn’t paid as a free kick as umpires Saw the bump was within the rules and not high shows the issue…suspensions are based on the outcome and not the act itself…Houston chose to bump and has to wear the consequences…ridiculous….
