THE LEAGUE IS NOW COMPLETE

It’s good to see my old friend and rival, @vsberlina, here (The New Originals). I hope you’re doing well.

I’m looking for a team to complete my Sportsdeck League. Preferably, it would be someone who is currently without a league; that way, it helps both of us out.

The league originated from the Original Fantasy League Classic game, which is sadly now defunct. There's a group of us from many different nations, and the chat tends to ebb and flow.

On a general note, having watched the OFL Classic game decline, it’s disappointing to see that the number of Sportsdeck entrants isn’t higher. Recruiting new players has proved difficult, even for the tournament-based games (Euros and World Cup), which are a good introduction to the format. It’s a challenging game—not for those looking for a set-and-forget type of experience—but more rewarding than any other fantasy football game that I’ve played.

There’s no chance of us competing with your all-star league. Our league is more like a reflection of the Premier League, with a few teams in contention for the overall title, a hard-fought mid-table, and the inevitable relegation battle.

A lot of us have been in the same leagues for over twenty years. Some drifted away in the latter days of the Official Fantasy League Classic game—there were a lot of technical problems with the site. Others found that Sportsdeck wasn’t for them, but over half of the league has its origins in OFL. And we’ve added some new members along the way. It’s a really good group of people, with many different nationalities represented.

On a personal level, the last few seasons have been disrupted by my other commitments. Sadly, those other commitments are no longer with us. I go into this season undercooked and lacking in enthusiasm, but I know it will return, so it’s important to make the effort now.

What are your thoughts on the future of Sportsdeck? The number of players seems to be fairly stable, but it’s relatively low, especially when we know that some people have multiple teams. It’s a great game and deserves a far bigger audience than it currently has. The worry is that another game succumbs to the dominance of FPL—a game I’ve struggled to connect with.

I do think the help sections could be redesigned to make it easier for newcomers to get to grips with the game. Maybe put some video tutorials on the site and YouTube. Also, the apps aren’t available worldwide—I know the game is aimed at the Australian market.

By the way, it’s great to see the help that you and the others are giving to newcomers here.

Glad I woke early and checked lineups. Mavididi for Bentancur now.

If I'd known Mavididi was going to be benched, I would have got Havertz instead of Maddison and maybe Ndidi.... Hope Spurs go nuts!

They ended up removing Savio from the midfield.

This was my starting side after having to make changes on the run with Muric, O'Brien, Dragusin and Barco MIA.
The replacements were Sels, Justin, Hall and I dropped Gordon down to Wood to get up to Gvardiol.
I ended up keeping Milenkovic as he was just on suspension. It was a shame that Murphy got culled to cover the red.

Ranked 125,834th. Super happy with that. Only the 4 blanks and had captain Salah. Nkunku the only concern. Despite not returning, it was good to see Solanke play the full 90 minutes.

Mavididi 4.

Ranked 168th. Good start. Nkunku and Mavididi the only concerns. May entertain trading Mavididi. Plays early in the round so I’ll see if he starts and react. Not expecting him to. Like Minteh (who should be all good to play after the concussion) but unfortunately he plays in the only game that is played before Leicester. Could always go early if I feel the need.
