The Kenfrost Homes Cairns Taipans will be missing Taran Armstrong and Tanner Groves for tomorrow's clash against the Perth Wildcats.

Armstrong rolled his ankle in warmup against Melbourne United on Sunday, and has since been diagnosed with a Grade 1 sprain.

He will miss the Round 4 double-header and will be a game day decision on Saturday 19 October, vs Illawarra Hawks.

Tanner Groves missed the Melbourne road trip due to a calf injury he sustained against Tasmania.

He has been ruled out for 3-4 weeks and is currently expected to return in Round 6.

Nominated injury replacement player Tad Dufelmeier will return to the roster for Armstrong, while Taipans development player Alex Higgins-Titsha will be elevated in place of Groves.

Prefer to hold White and feel Waardenburg is a one and done.
Could use a boost and then my third boost next round for three Tas and NZ players.
Out: Ili, Waardenburg and White
In: Armstrong, Cooks and Deng

Back to the drawing board. No confidence in any double guards bar Adams. Edwards and Vasiljeivc lack contribution in other stats and I do not particularly want to commit on a cash loss with Adams but the only other alternative I feel is Doyle. Trying to defend against the worst case scenario so do not particularly want to go early on Doyle over a double given I am not confident in Waardenburg to outperform his price point.

Adams should allow an easy swap to PJC and a third boost used for one of Magnay/Doyle and likely Menenga to replace Harrell and Waardenburg.

I already have Adams having kept him last week... But I have actually been playing around with trading him out this week to maximize cash generation across my team.

His last 2 games have been concerning... Low points, low FG attempts, High Turnovers, If he goes poor this week he's set for a big price drop.
Any particular reasons? illness?

From 2 games 30+ mins to 2 under.

401 last round. Not quite sure what to do with trades this round due to limited funds in the bank. Only option I’m really interested in is Cooks, but in order to get him I’d need to trade out Magnay and White. If I skip Cooks, I can hold Magnay and get someone like Galloway for Loe, but then I’m not really sure there’s anyone else of interest that I would trade White out for, or anyone cheap enough to trade Olbrich or Hickey for.

Think this is where I'll land. Hickey+White to Galloway+Adams. Don't love either end of either of the trades lol but think they net me more points over the next few rounds than anything else I can come up with. Should hopefully allow me to hold Adams through next round and still get the main ones required. Don't love betting against Cooks but hopefully it pans out okay.

Really hate this round. Want 2 of Prather, Adnam, Galloway to make some cash but need to move Hickey, Olbrich and Ili on but 10k short of going Ili >Edwards.

Prather I think is a long-term Flexible cash cow play in G/F to replace Henshall when he maxes out.

Don't have a good 2nd DGR in Guard this round as it stands. Taryn was the obvious solution but now have to get creative.

Seems Oliver might be sacrificed with the high BE and iffy role despite the DGR. Want to hold Magnay / White.

Thinking:

Oliver > Galloway
Hickey > Prather / Adnam
Ili > R Edwards.

Next round is so much easier with Adnam over Prather.

EDIT: Just realised by Hickey to Adnam and Oliver > Galloway that I actually have the cash to Ili > Adams over R Edwards. Food for thought.

Adams has 2 really good match-ups this week and likely playable next round onfield.
Edwards has increased usage with Adams out.
Both have another DGR round 6. Going Adams makes getting PJC a little more difficult but not impossible.

Think I’ll go Loe > Galloway and Olbrich > Gak. Don’t love Gal but it lets me hold onto White and Magnay. Even though I haven’t looked the look of Magnay, think I’d be kicking myself if I got rid of him for Cooks this round and didn’t have him for the double next round

Wow, I just noticed I have the same starting 5. I've gone C on Davis.
Good first half by Waardenburg.

Captaincy moved to Adams otherwise his inclusion doesn’t make much sense. Solid from Waardenburg, considered Edwards over Adams but was concerned about his production outside of shooting. Did consider Gak over Leaupepe but opted for the cheaper option and Deng for the double next round. May consider Adams, Harrell and Henshall next round to Mooney, PJC and Mennenga depending on price changes.
