At that time Hulk was at the top of the card and the highest paid wrestler so unionisation would have hurt his hip pocket. Due to their classification as independent contractors rather than employees, the wrestlers have to pay for their medical and travel expenses rather than their employer. They do not receive retirement benefits as well.

Wrestlemania IX and his refusal to drop the belt to Bret Hart afterwards, Bash at the Beach 2000, etc but most importantly in regards to Sting is Starrcade 1997. Poorly executed finish which was changed late and Hogan didn’t want to drop the belt or lose clean because Sting wasn’t tanned enough.
