no I completely agree with there being a tone of factors to consider. It's just more of figuring out which outcomes are a direct cause of the captaincy decisions made. I'd also like to know which factors they prioritise over others.

On a different note, I've heard players/coaches on the mic talk about letting the batsman make the decision as to when to take the surge or what ball to bowl and I think these are key differences with captains, as what I've heard is some captains give bowlers really clear plans to the bowlers, while others are happy to give more autonomy to the bowlers. Like last night, Haddin had mentioned multiple times that Billings was trying to enforce how the bowlers should be bowling too often. I think Warner also said he'd let Billings control the field placements. I think these are interesting points. Where do you guys sit with these things?
All valid points

I guess the more experienced bowlers who have played internationally and in other leagues around the world get more leeway eg Jordan (who was essentially Morgan's right hand man when England were successful at white ball cricket)

Turner probably let's guys like Agar , Behrendorff , Tye dictate fields and type of ball bowled as they games of experience behind them

WK is important with fielding as he can see all of the different angles easily enough.

Maxwell was good last season as well , think they listened in to a over when he was giving instructions to Rauf where to bowl (although Rauf may have lost a fair bit in translation)

Be good to listen to some of the captain's speak more and more during the game , but obviously they wouldn't want to give to much away.

eg why did you bowl Player X to Player Y , who do you keep back for the surge etc

I don't have Fox so can only go off Seven.

As for the batsman taking the PS I still think.most teams still have no idea when to take it

Respectfully, that is a crazy statement. Unless I’m missing the sarcasm.
No sarcasm intended. Have a close watch of a quality T20 match and a listen to a good T20 captain during an innings. The plans change frequently - it’s not unusual for them to change from one ball to the next, depending on who is on strike - and are very situationally dependent.

In Tests, a lot of the time you could write out most of the plan before an innings starts.

Brutal round so far with score of 692. Started the round with 9 DGR players but, like many teams, down to 7 due to injuries to Edwards and Curran :(. At least Weatherald's injury got me Connolly's 37 points on field. Small mercies.

Hoping Captain Walter decides to come out tonight and show some of the form he displayed last year. Also sweating on Dwarshuis, Johnson and Renshaw to save my round!
