Congratulations folks. It was a very good test series. Thoroughly enjoyed, even though we ended up in the wrong side of the score line. Test cricket at its best 😀
A massive respect to Patrick Cummins who just brings home so many trophies to Australia. Performs with the ball, does it with the bat and to top it all, the captaincy was incredible.. All the very best for the finals at the Lord’s vs the proteas! cheers.

Time for India to rebuild and transition.
Personally have always loved how King Kohli goes about the way he plays cricket , he Ganguly & MS Dhoni have led the way for the change in attitude of how modern day Team India approach and play cricket.
Don't think he gets the respect he deserves but that's probably the last time we see him in Australia playing tests , fantastic career , modern day great 🤗
Although the crowds were singing the same song they used to sing to Hadlee all those years ago so maybe they/we do respect him.
Eagerly watching to see what they do for the England Test tour.
Outside of Easwaran , Gaikwad , Jurel , Paddikal , Sai Sudharsan , Sarfaraz who are the next in line bats coming through we should be keeping an eye on

Why did Konstas have to get involved in the first place ? He was the non striker.
Plenty of former Australian players now in the media mentioned the same thing , stay out of it and pick your battles young man

No doubt Konstas is a bit full of himself but it was a chat. The guy could have said Konstas just needs to mind his own business. But using the "soft comment" was just plain silly for mine given how fragile the Indian team seem to be when things don't go their way.
I am sure some of the older players will sit down with Konstas and give him some guidance. And yes his bat should do the talking or he will be out the door. Just like the Indians should know their cricket reflects on them and how they play it is determined by their actions. No way they should have let a 19yo get under their skin like that.

Like a lot of us here who played lots of 'local' football and cricket I find it hard to comprehend that a '19 yo kid playing his second test' has 'so infuriated' a team of apparent 'seasoned, mature, international, professional' cricketers to such an extent. The 'crime' he appeared to have committed against the Indian team at the end of the fourth day was to 'dance down the wicket' and hit Bumrah (their God) into the pickets first ball. As for 'shirtfront and sandpaper' Kohli .. just time to hang up the 'jock-strap' son!
Sri Lanka is going to be a different team due to the pitches, but I wonder what the plans are moving forward.

Even allowing for bowler friendly pitches, we have an aging, underperforming batting lineup. Who's safe? IMO:
Locks - Head and Smith. I think you could probably add Konstas and Webster to those two as it would be tough to drop either (unless they want to go with a horses for courses approach - I'm not sure how either of them play spin). You'd think they'll be there in England.
Under the pump - Khawaja, Marnus. Marnus scored back to back 50's in Melbourne, so would probably be tough to drop him. On form, Khawaja probably needs to go but then you have to find another opener. Could open with Head in Sri Lanka, but then you'll need to have a new opener against Rabada and co. If Khawaja plays the WTC final, you're probably taking him to the WIndies. If you take him to the Windies, you then potentially have a new opener in the Ashes.
Carey? He's only scored 1 hundred in 37 test matches (plus a 98*) and is averaging 32. He's probably not under the pump at present (you could argue he should be), although if they play both him and Inglis in the same team in Sri Lanka and Inglis makes himself undropable, do they pull the trigger?
Which leaves us with who's left to put pressure on Khawaja and Marnus? Green will come back in at some stage, but I don't think he'll be fit for Sri Lanka. Do you take him to England and then the WIndies if he's fit? Marsh and McSweeney are probably in the conversation as they've been dropped recently and Inglis was the spare middle order bat for the summer. I can see Marsh focusing more on white ball moving forward. Do we open with Konstas and McSweeney in England, to give them the WIndies tour aswell, in preparation for the Ashes?

Do they pull players out of the BBL for the CA XI games v the English Lions ? (probably not)
Who makes the team for the Australia A v England Lions game ?
Then the shield resumes.
Then what ?
Ideally you would want a Australia A tour of England , Ireland , Netherlands , Scotland to expose guys like Connolly , O Davies , Hardie , Hunt , Konstas , McSweeney , Renshaw , etc to different conditions.
Clayton , Goodwin , Lovell , Kellaway , Ward , Wyllie
Or get them playing county cricket , obviously times have changed but years ago many spent numerous seasons plying their craft in England.
Australia A series in the Top End in winter.
Hard to drop the incumbents when guys are not playing red ball cricket.
I wonder if they will look at Green (once available) as a opener option to replace Khawaja then move him back to 4 when Smith retires ?
This is why we need a stronger Australia A program to put games and development into the next level down.

In regards to the tour of Sri Lanka, I would love to see Cooper Connolly included in the squad as the all-rounder offering the left arm spin option. I prefer him over Maxwell as we need to plan for the future with the age of this team.
McSweeney as the backup batsman, Marsh I think is done as a test cricketer - Webster was so impressive on debut.
Think Khawaja wants to keep playing until the end of the year if possible, he did look far better yesterday with Bumrah not bowling - Bumrah is the one bowler that he really struggled with/ had his measure. Henry Hunt could be the replacement going forward when Khawaja is done - 27 years old so in his prime.
Marnus is a difficult one, if he continues to struggle then maybe McSweeney gets another chance.
