Will Day vs Jordon Dawson?
Will Day I'm a massive fan of him, the only thing I'm considering is to start him or wait to his bye. I did see his name on the injury list.... don't know if it's true or not.
Dawson has a great bye the question mark is his role in the team, does he get enough mid time?
My opinion Day out scores Dawson. I feel Day could go 110+

Im not sure but I reckon MFC are stiill not in a good space as a footy club. Petracca not right, May being May makes me reconsider Oliver. Maybe its just Gawn thats viable in SC and any rookies aka Langford.
Rucks a bit painful this year with early byes and so many players I like with the Rd 12 bye. Marshall is also a possibility but I want to know he is not sharing the ruck/playing fwd first. So for now I think I will pay up for Gawn although I don't like paying top $. He has been so resilient in SC scoring finishing 1st,1st, 6th and 1st for rucks the last four years despite the years creeping up. Can always drop back to Marshall if Boyd is not a threat.

Day was training yesterday, which was the first session for the year. He was injured through the finals, so probably was eased into things a bit before Christmas.

so who do we pair him upto?I am torn. Pay up for Xerri, top $$$, or go to TDK, English, Marshall, Meek types or go with one of the mentioned and a Flynn , rookie combo?

I rate the player, but he misses games, this is not good news. Will have a look at byes rather than start.

Will Day vs Jordon Dawson?
Dawson more likely to go 110+ and is durable.

But then again Will Day is ridiculously cheap and from round 10-20 last year average 114, but history says he misses a few games and also has the early bye.

Currently going with Gawn into TDK. I am trying to limit my early bye round players to 3 and they need to have some upside. TDK is one of them and he has the Rd 12 bye. Which is why under my current set up I do not want another Rd 12 ruck. But pre season will reveal more and hopefully a clearer path.

Paying up big for the rucks, it's the one position where you can't afford to get too cute, so Gawn into Xerri. I'm sure that they'll likely drop a bit and could be picked up cheaper throughout the year but I'd like to concentrate on upgrading the other lines.

Not much needs to be said about Gawn, Xerri was the big beneficiary of the ruck rule change, scored at an average of 149 over the last 5 games and that's the sort of scoring that can hurt if you don't have him particularly at the start of the year.

I reckon there's enough value, especially in the forwards, that helps mitigate the outlay

The Darcy and TDK picks have major upside and having Flynn + Boyd there can bail you out a little.

Version 2.0 of Post Nut Clarity

This is a completely different strategy than I’ve opted for in the past, as I’ve always went for the cheapest possible rookies on my bench, with starting as many high end premiums on field my priority. I guess I feel like I’m a premium short but I’m hoping I’ll be able to make ground quickly with some aggressive trading early in the season.

Although it’s very early into the preseason, this year it appears as though there’ll be a plethora of 150-200K priced players that will not only play consistently but have SuperCoach friendly roles as well.

I plan on going extremely lean in the midfield with Bont and Butters as my two captain options and Oliver who I believe will bounce back to a 105-110 average followed by rookie priced players.

Nathan O’Driscall hasn’t been talked about much on here but I believe his in Freo’s best 22 & could easily average around 70-75 this year playing on the opposite wing to Sharp.

Ed Allan played the final two games of the season and finished the season with a score of 94. His now entering his third preseason and has already been getting praise from team mates and coaching staff alike. He could be the pick of the bunch come round one.

Elijah Tsatas is another rookie priced player heading into his third preseason with the former number 5 pick featuring in this report only yesterday: https://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/...ws-story/13cfea37dccf787ccc2922cd60b580be?amp (I don’t have access too it but the title paints a pretty clear picture) so his another contender to solidify a spot in his respective clubs best 22.

Then there’s Smith, Draper, Ashcroft, Langford and Smilie who all look like playing early and have shown they’ve got what it takes to post some monster SuperCoach scores as a junior… (Smilie misses out for now because his the cheapest but there’s every chance I downgrade someone like Powell-Pepper to him come round one)

Going light on in the mids has allowed me to get Flanders in down back which has really bolstered my back line as well which I like, given there doesn’t appear to be as many cheaper options in the frame for round one compared to the midfield and forward line.

Any thoughts, feedback and/or criticism welcome! :)

I suspect like many teams your Rd 12 bye could be an issue.
It's a bugger of a bye, players like Sheezel, Bont, Xerri, JHF, and Daniel (all in my team) are going to be hard to pass on, compounding that is the alternatives have the early byes. Reckon that I'll just treat those mid season byes as a group, maybe taking a bit of a hit in one round.

Yep. It’s going to be a tough one for sure but all the aforementioned players are locks in my opinion & Butters & TDK aren’t far off being locked in my side either.

I’d rather have my team “stacked” with premiums with round 12 byes rather than the early ones though.

Definitely going to have to be very proactive in terms of the premium players that I trade in throughout the year, making sure I avoid players from teams with the round 12 bye though.

Thanks for your thoughts.

And it feels like all the other options are the Freo/Saints guys

The backs are especially bad for the byes. McGovern somehow a top option if you factor byes.
