Further to my post of Dec 3 the score at full time was 0-0 and the crowd was apparently 3700. Spurs did win 3-0 eventually but the first goal was an own goal. They needed to bring on Son and Kulusevski and Solanke in the end to get the job done. The Tamworth team included a bricklayer, zipper salesman and a barber. Only a baker and a candlestick maker were missing. But it was entertaining wasn't it Ange!
Non-league teams are a bit like that. Treat them too lightly, and they can be competitive and even win, as for them, it's a rarity to play teams of that level and they step it up.
I support a team in the same league as Tamworth and they've beaten three U21 sides from Premier League / Championship clubs this year in the National League Cup. Not exactly the same standard as the FA Cup, sure, but for most clubs at that level, the whole team are part time footballers who have other jobs. You do get a few sides in the league that are more professional with much larger budgets, but the majority are part time.
