Ok lads I have a 36 player keeper league with no waivers!!! Would love some feedback and which 6 this community would delist. DPP was not kind to me and I have traded off some players to add youth. Finished out of the finals but looking at taking a step this year via draft and trade.

3 names that stand out to me on first glance are:

H Clarke - just can't get his body right and don't think he plays enough games at a high enough average to truly hurt you
Gresham - seems like he's just average now, and his role won't be conducive to solid scoring. Sub risk at times as well, just don't think the hurt factor will be there if you let him go.
Hobbs - might be controversial given he has done some good things before, but I just don't think there is room for him most weeks, think he is one who could score ok if there are a heap of injuries, but will not get enough games and/role to average enough.

Thanks mate! I’m definitely with you with gresh, Clark is hanging on by the skin of his teeth but will mostly liking drop out.
I am probably going to hold Hobbs purely on his fwd status and hope he gets back to his 23 form

Who are some not so obvious value picks this year? The likes of JHF, Macrae, Baz will go early as forwards with obvious role changes. Clarry is a risk, but still could go in the first few rounds.

I'm looking for some good 4th or 5th round value picks who won't still be there deep in the 10th round of the draft, but have the potential to be top 5 on their respective lines.

Go check out the keeper league pod website and they have a mock draft platform there that is way better than SC platform. That will give you a good idea as who is going where and then you can cross check that with ADP.
That is usually how I find my value picks

Yes, good advice - I usually do the same closer to draft date (end of Feb) once more drafts have taken place. Just looking for some early opinions

It's tricky at this point because a lot of the value selections will be from positional changes and we don't have enough meaningful data to inform those. Best I can say is look for anyone that has been trialled off HB.

Some good young talent on that list!

The ones I would be considering trimming would be:

H Clark - 25 yo midfielder with a best average of 82, always misses games

B Scott - challenging role, not in North’s top half dozen mids on talent, hard to see high scoring

W Powell - more half back types at GC

Sparrow - doesn’t seem to have grasped his opportunity as yet, two new high draft picks could go past him for mid time

Gresham - doesn’t seem to have the upside previously expected

Lukosius - could be good as a defender, but seemingly wants to play forward, and presumably has agreed that he’ll do so at Port

Hobbs - hard to see him being in your top 8 mids any time soon? Could keep holding with forward status, but you’d be hoping he nails down a spot soon

Rowbottom - unlikely to be a top 8 mid in your squad when in contention

A few additional thoughts, including on a few players I own myself in a keeper league:

- As I mentioned, the strength of your squad seems to be your youth. I suspect your premiership window could be fairly lengthy, but perhaps not immediate. If you agree/are open to that, you could set up accordingly and that would influence some of the marginal calls (eg maybe Lipinski vs Hobbs, say).

- You seem to have a very large number of mids. I assume you can’t field anywhere near that many, so rebalancing may make sense. You could even add Mills, Hewett, Curtin and Hobbs as likely midfielders next season onwards, which would skew your squad further. A few of your current mids could move forward and back, but they’re probably less obvious as things stand.

- Tom Powell has been training the house down. Is stronger, fitter and is showing more of the weapons he showed before Noble et al got to him.

- Phillips is probably one you would have considered cutting last year, but he seems to be having a good o***eason. Feedback from North’s recent training has been very positive.

- Lipinski seems to be getting a bit more inside mid time this off season. Could be a pretty handy scorer in that role with forward eligibility.

Amazing summary there mate. Far too kind of you to put in the thought and effort into this for me.
I’m pretty set on selling of sparrow, Gresh, Bowey. Phillips, HClark, Allan, Campbell and JClark probably next in the gun
I have worked my ass off to move some depth pieces for depth at either end of the ground without much luck so might keep/draft best available and look to trade higher quality mids to hopefully advance up the ladder this coming season

Nice one. That strategy probably makes sense if you haven’t had much success shifting midfielders to other lines (which seems a bit strange, but you have to work with the situation you’re in!).

It is probably worth considering who has good trade currency, or whose currency could improve. Guys like J Clark and Campbell as high draft picks could be in the former category, and Phillips and Allan as guys having good pre seasons with role/JS upside could be in the latter.

Who do we think the top 5 rookies are from this year when considering future scoring power for a keeper league?

1. Jagga Smith
2. Levi Ashcroft?
3.
4.
5.

Draper? O'Sullivan?
What do you think?

Hotton and Langford had good rookie numbers too.

In a new keeper I would be going Smith, Ashcroft, Draper, Langford, Hotton then FOS. I think Langford will gain DPP which would increase his value

Thanks mate for the reply, what are your thoughts on Travaglia?

I only went off the names mentioned but I would slide in after Draper and before Langford. One to keep a close eye on too is Lindsey out of Melb. Listed as a mid but word is he has a half back role locked away. Beautiful mover and user too
