On seriously turning pitch SL have really dropped the ball (literally) by missing 3 catches and a non review that would have been out. Australia not as solid as the scoreline suggests. But SL still need to bat so long way to go.

Did nothing for the first hour , since then it has been turning.

I would be getting a leg spinner on a plane.

Head should have been LBW (didn't review)

Labuschagne almost run out from short leg.

Labuschagne LBW saved from umpires call.

Khawaja dropped , Khawaja missed , Smith dropped

Khawaja edged behind (they didn't review)

Think they said 277 is the average first day score here

We will need to get around 375+ by stumps

Won't have any issues with over rates

Just stop showing the cricket without warning. No indication of the channel that you should now be watching.

As punishment we are now watching very negative bowling.

Yeah good toss to win, but I don't think the pitch is as good as Australia (or Sri Lanka) have made it look.

Be interesting to see if the pitch dries out and it gets a little quicker. Slow spin is one thing, but if it gets a little quicker it's going to be very tough to bat on.

For the most part, the negative bowling was hitting the pads which is technically ok. I was disappointed that they didn't start getting called for wides as soon as the ball missed the pads.

Definitely slow turn.

They were comparing Jayasuriya to last time when he got a 12fa , quicker through the air , quicker off the pitch and he actually nout some effort into his run-up.

Remarkable how much the pitch was starting to break up when 2 of their spinners had no run up or follow through to speak of.

If Starc gets a reasonable spell be interesting to see how much rough he creates

They were showing some stats that the SL spinners were twice as bad here in the 1st Innings (wickets and SR ) compared to the other 3 Innings.

See if they improve today.

Mind you if they took their chances and got their reviews right it would be a different scorecard.

When the keeper positions himself outside leg every ball that's when the umpires step in , I guess they say the batsman is blocking their view.

Think they chatted the leggie once for bowling outside leg.

Only need to start calling a wide and things will quickly change.

I am sure we will adopt the same tactics if we need to

As it is within the laws I guess it is up to the batting side to change things up instead of using their pads instead of the bat.

Interesting day coming up

Goodwin , Ward , Patterson , Hardie (C) , Philippe (WK) , Sutherland , Bartlett , O'Neill , Rocchiccioli , Doggett , Buckingham

Edwards was the appointed captain , I think he may have got injured in the last Sixers game.

Interestingly we have a specialist opener in Sri Lanka not getting a game.

The leading runscorer in the Shield this season (Hunt) is a opener.

Yet they pick 2 blokes to open who both bat @ 3 for their state side

Bartlett at 7 leaves them a little light on batting wise, but maybe Edwards not playing caused an issue.

Pretty sure they only selected 12 initially as well , surprised they didn't add someone else.

Hopefully they have some Australia A games arranged for the winter months.

Start getting some games into these guys and see what they can produce

This current partnership in SL might be the worst thing to happen to Australian cricket this decade.
Now the selectors will feel vindicated picking these blokes until they are near 50 years old.
I reckon they need to look at these old blokes and ask, how does their form in the last 7-8 Tests look, if we remove one innings?
