Trade bait:
  • Max King- Averaged 100.67 over the first three rounds to start his season. Out of contract (SCSUL) at the end of 2025 but RFA rights are received
  • Sam Berry- Two seasons averaging 85+ and can be signed until the end of 2027.
  • Will Hamill- Returned to the Crows lineup recently and could provide solid coverage down back across 2024 and 2025 with RFA rights going forward.
  • Lachie Neale- Two time Brownlow medalist, inaugural Lockhart medalist and has averaged 120+ three times from 2019 to current. Need I say any more!
Neale still available and ideally seeking multiple players or picks in exchange for his services.

Oscar Allen (FWD)

- Won the Larke Medal for best player in his draft year. Fellow winners include Petracca, Walsh and Ashcroft

- Should retain forward status throughout his career - a big benefit in keeper leagues

- Averaged 79 as a 21 year old in just his 3rd season - enough to be a top 20 forward against this year’s cohort

- Now West Coast captain, and hitting his prime at age 25 - will be targeted in the forward line

- West Coast will only improve with their new recruits, improving delivery into forward 50

- Scope to be traded as The Darkness’ forward line is now deeper than previously

- Secured on very affordable long term contract, 5 years at c. 310k pa

- Super cheap to hold in 2025 and 2026, at 163k and 125k. Could significantly ease cap pressures for 2+ years

- Lethal left foot kick. "Arie's got an elite weapon; he's just about the best kick I've ever seen, in terms of penetration and variety of kick”. Chosen to participate in Fox Footy’s Longest Kick before he had even been drafted.

- Draft slider. Slid from a first round prospect following a long suspension in his draft year - which may have been a blessing in disguise (link below).

- Big accumulator. Averaging 21 kicks (!), 5 handballs and 6 marks in the VFL. Models his game on James Sicily and Tom Stewart. Had 29 kicks and 13 marks on VFL debut.

- Increased opportunity. Josh Battle’s move to the Hawks, and Riley Bonner’s delisting, open up roles in the Saints’ defence (23 and 19 games played in 2024). Dougal Howard is now injured as well, along with several other Saints … spots in the 22 are opening up.

- Under consideration in Classic, much cheaper again in UL. Is one of the more popular midpriced defenders in Classic, priced at $271k. Is priced over $150k cheaper in UL, at just $115k.

- RUC eligible

- Doesn’t cost $1,000,000 pa like other rucks - just $426k

- Fieldable as a FWD - would be c. F5 or F6 for many UL sides based on historical scoring

- No need to waste salary and a list spot on a player you can’t field unless your other rucks go down!

- The Darkness’ recent acquisition of Stanley opens up an opportunity to trade a ruck

- Potential upside if he plays the #1 role at the Pies

Taylor “Tex” Walker

- All Australian as recently as 2023

- Averaged 90, 91 and 86 from 2021-23

- Recently joined The Darkness, but other recent acquisitions open up potential to trade a forward

- 2x AFLPA Best Captain

- Adelaide have welcomed Cumming, Peatling and Alex Neal-Bullen this off season - will there be more or better quality forward entries for Tex?

- Huge ceiling - scored 208 (!!), 167, 157 and 130 in the last two years

Mitch Duncan (DEF)

- 10 consecutive seasons of scoring 88-110

- Averaged 90 last year, D2 level

- Hasn’t played a round 1 game since 2020, when he averaged 104 - had a full preseason this year

- Averaging 83, including season high of 119 from 69% TOG last match
I will also bump this for Darkie..

Oh wait, hit me up with offers if keen. I can chase other avenues with defenders after auction.

Some pretty handy predicted averages from our very own SCS community in this thread:

https://supercoachscores.com/threads/scs-predicted-averages-2025.5460/post-1167083

- Lipinski 80 average (highest prediction: 97)
- Schoenmaker 76 ave (highest 90)
- Allen 74 ave (highest 90)
- Cox 62 (highest 90, RUC eligible)

Based on this:

- Lipinski would become F2-3 for many coaches - and F1 for some

- Allen would be F2-4 for most

- Schoenmaker would be on field for most coaches, ay 115k

The Darkness is open to trading any of the above names.

Will be commercial on terms/structuring!

The Darkness is looking to open up a couple of list spots before tonight’s 6pm trade deadline.

As a result, the below players are on the table, seeking one of the following:

(a) a 2026 draft pick in return,

(b) a pick upgrade providing equivalent value (could be 2025 or 2026), or

(b) to create a 2- or 3-for-1 deal, giving you multiple assets, and freeing up list spots for me (while not completely torching value).

Some of these players have not been offered for trade before. Some may never be offered again. I am only looking to open up a couple of list spots … and who knows, the site may even crash again!

Given all that, if you like the look of a player below, or just want to explore something, now would be a good time to let me know.

I will be commercial on valuation, and can potentially provide salary support, if salary is a stumbling block for a particular coach or player.

Happy to structure trades that work for both coaches
, as always.

Player list to come in the next post!

Will Phillips (M) - Former #1 pick (UL) and #3 pick (AFL). Struggled early in his career with glandular but has come back fit and firing. 3 years @ c. 210k, with matching rights thereafter. Some watchers had him as BOG in yesterday’s match sim, getting a lot of CBAs.

Bailey Humphrey (F) - Top 10 draft pick, with GC reportedly very keen to secure his services, and Melbourne attempting to trade up to nab him first. Scored 117 in just his 3rd full game, and backed it up with 101, 90 and 99 back to back. Likely to be a long term forward for keeper league purposes, which is very useful. Or he moves into the midfield and has even more scoring upside. Hit with the sub vest 7 times last year (while still playing 21 games), to reduce his average to 50, making for a very tasty second contract.

Matt Kennedy (M-F) - Quality player who averaged 77 last year despite being asked to play multiple different roles. Has moved for more mid time, and landed at the Dogs, who have exited or lost Bailey Smith, Ksck Macrae and Caleb Daniel in one off season. Treloar is injured again, and Libba could be one head knock away from another long spell on the sidelines. Scores well enough to be F1-3 for many sides even without any role upside, and has flex to be played in the MID line.

Adam Saad (D) - Very good defender with great durability history. Top 3 for kick ins, alongside Nic Newman, who looks to be out for the season.

Patrick Lipinski (M-F) - 76 averaging FWD, which is enough for F1-3 for many UL aides. The SCS community predicts he will average 80, suggesting further upside. Has averaged 86 before. The Pies midfield is shallow, aging and injured. Lipinski is mooted to play further up the ground, both inside and outside, this year. Handy DPP, and could be fielded as a mid in most UL sides. Has been a forward line stalwart for The Darkness, but there is scope to trade him given the recent recruiting of Daniel, Daniels, Neal-Bullen and Bolton.

Logan McDonald (F) - Number 3 draft pick. Dominated the WAFL as an under 18 player. Key target in one of the best teams in the comp. Under 300k pa with matching rights to come.

Tanner Bruhn (M) - Traded for 2x R2 picks one year ago. On a front ended contract, so I’ve probably had his worst year of scoring while paying the highest salary … the best is yet to come. Averaged c. 80 when played a full game, with plenty of upside as he lifts his TOG. There are only c. 5 players that get more CBAs at a younger age than Bruhn, and three of them are named Daicos, Harley and Wardlaw.

Matt Johnson (M) - Mooted as a top 10 pick in his draft year. Next man into the mids when Fyfe shuffles off. Has been developing in other roles, but should kick whenever Fyfe gets injured or is moved out of the midfield or the side.

Brady Hough (D) - Has gone from looking like a 14yo and the Eagles playing him anyway, to a beast at 191cm. One of the best young defenders in the comp, with scope to play a more offensive role, or to become a big bodied midfielder. A favourite of some of the keeper league gurus out there. Locked in cheap for 7 years @ <350k.

Willem Drew (M) - Averaging 90+ and locked in at just 320k pa for 5 years. He started last year under-rated, now he’s often mentioned as one of the most under-rated players in the comp. Has played every game for 4 years straight. Scored a 160, 140 and 130 last year, showing his ceiling. Still hasn’t hit 100 games yet, so scope to improve further.

Arie Schoenmaker (D) - Outstanding left foot kick - the Saints will want the ball in his hands. Averaged 96 DT in the VFL and St Kilda have multiple backmen out versus last year. On a rookie contract.

Mason Cox (R-F) - A RUC who has played c. 17 games a season the last 3 years, at less than half of the $1m a season that many other rucks are getting paid. Fieldable at F4-6 and great backup when your rucks inevitably get injured. Or you could use him as trade bait later in the season.

Oscar Allen (F) - MVP at the national champs in his draft year. Averaged 79 in his second year. Hitting his prime in an improving WC team, which has added experienced mids to kick to him. Under 200k to hold both this year and next. Secured for all his prime scoring years and should retain FWD status throughout.

Tex Walker (F) - Averaged c. 90 in 2021, 2022 and 2023. All Australian 2023, including a 200 SC game, and 2 other 150+ scores. Could win you a big final. Open to reducing his salary (currently 450k - which could itself be cheap if he bounces back).

Riley Hardeman (D) - One of the best defenders in his draft class. Being groomer at half back for North, which has historically been a high scoring role (McKercher, Fisher, Sheezel, Ziebell, Hall …). North just need to move on from Luke McDonald (and it seems the first step has been taken, given he’s no longer captain).

Harry Barnett (R) - The best ruck in his draft class. Taken at pick 10 in UL. Can be locked in at c. 170k for 5 years, which represents extreme value if he can secure a spot in the side. Has been training as a defender - a role he played alongside ruck in his junior career - so has another pathway into the side. Has put on significant size and is looking fit. Could be huge upside given rucks are going for $1m pa.

Pick 19, 22 and 28 are also available, either in combination with a player/each other, or in their own right.

If any of those players appeal, please drop me a line!

The Darkness has a quality suite of picks in a deep draft pool, and is open to trading one of those picks:

#1 is off the table

#7 is one I am open to moving up the order (but likely not trading outright)

Picks #19 and 28 are both moveable. One of them could be combined with pick 7 to move up the order, or 19 and 28 could be combined to generate a single higher pick.

I have a range of 2026 picks if additional flexibility is needed.

As you are probably aware, this draft pool is regarded as very deep, so splitting a single pick into 19 and 28 is likely to yield two good players for one, much moreso than in previous years.

Please let me know if you have interest to explore. Pick swaps can often be pretty quick and easy.
