Not often it happens but strongly disagree here again, twice in a week (and also probably 2 years)! In a team with Ridley, Redman, McGrath and Roberts as the other primary rebounding options, if I'm the other side I leave Shiel open at all costs to be the rebounder, to the level where I'd actually have his man running away from him when Essendon win the ball to ensure he gets as many touches as possible.

The question is whether he can kick long and/or hit short targets often enough to overcome the clangers that he's going to rack up left, right and centre. Shiel is also going to be very handy in one on one ground ball contests which can be worth a lot of points.

He's a great value pick, no reason he can't average 95+, I think his ceiling is probably towards the 110 mark just because of the kicking but most players who have hunted as efficiently as midfielders as he did will get a ton of it down back.

He definitely has trap potential though, durability is woeful and ball use might be even worse, those two things both can absolutely derail him. Early bye also removes a solid chunk of his value.

He's somewhere on the fringe of a trap, definitely could be a very good pick, definitely could be terrible but there's more than enough good reasons to pick him to not be a trap. There's also the pipe dream that he becomes a good kick at HB with the time and space. We've seen the likes of Boyd, Rioli and Lloyd all go from outright bad to shaky ball users to actually good, so it's always possible.

The round 0 match is going to be everything though, will be one of the guys I actually watch closest in that round as I do think there's a play there.

Please memory hole this one for when I take Shiel and it blows up in my face like I know it will deep down ;) Bring it out next year when I fall in love with the next HB move!
Personally don’t have any interest in a 31 year old with his durability history to go with his disposal issues at his starting price. Going to have to rack up big possession numbers every week to post a decent score. But I didn’t take Fyfe last year for similar reasons & he started the season well so you never really know 😂

Well, Tsatas can certainly stay in my team. Pleasing from Knevitt and Reid too who can also stay.

Prior was solid albeit a tad expensive so would prefer to go cheaper in the backline if possible. Decent option though.

Didn’t have Kako before tonight but I feel that is about to change.

O’Sullivan with just a half of footy after playing a half in the VFL curtain raiser. Has to be questions around whether he’s there opening round.

Hayes was alright as far as his role in the team goes but not SC relevant.

Thing I like about Kako is that he was picked to be a small forward rather than a mid playing forward. Interested to see how Berry at Port goes as well.
