No strong view on essendon backline, Prior likely to play round 1? Competing against one or anyone injured.

Appreciate we will see OR, just trying to understand bigger picture on the former. Brisbane defender.
Essendon supporters would know more but it seemed to me that he is the direct replacement for Jake Kelly in their back 6, plays the same role.

Redman & Laverde were missing from our normal back 6.
I guess our starting 6 will be McKay, Reid, Ridley, Redman, McGrath, Laverde. But I would think that Laverde's spot is up for grabs if Prior can take it.

Yeah I think Prior plays even with Redman returning.

My predicted opening round team for the Bombers;

B: Redman, Reid, Ridley
HB: Shiel, McKay, McGrath
C: Roberts, Merrett, Durham
HF: Perkins, Jones, Martin
F: Kako, Caddy, Langford
R: Draper, Caldwell, Tsatas
I: Hobbs, Gresham, Duursma, Bryan, Prior

Laverde clearly out of favour as he didn’t play last night and isn’t injured. Prior ahead of Hayes one would expect.

Not much talk on Hobbs as a forward option. Risky play as so many other FWD options already. Seemed to be played out of his position last year, some sub appearances has him as a cheap FWD option.

A POD maybe.? Can he get into the top 4 in terms of MID rotations on a weekly basis or do Essendon have to many options in this area for Hobbs to start each week.?

1.Zerrett
2.Parish (when fit)
3.??
4.??

Who gets the next 2 spots available.....

Hayes definitely goes out, he was only playing to get some game time in as the back up key tall if/when Reid or Ridley go down. I'm not sure about Prior though, the question is will Prior and Roberts play in the same side, which depends on whether Scott wants to play Jones forward more, allowing Roberts to spend more time on the wing. If not, then Roberts plays in defence and takes Priors spot. Personally I would play both Roberts and Prior and drop Shiel as he was absolutely awful despite all the attention he's getting in SC circles. But I expect Shiel to get first crack due to seniority and Scott stubbornly wanting to pull off some genius move despite it being doomed to fail.

He's still a massive sub candidate. Did some ok things last night but also did some terrible things. Never seen a guy kick the ball so high to only go 40m like he does.

Mids would be 1. Zerrett, 2. Parish (when fit) 3. Caldwell, 4. Tsatas, 5-7. Hobbs (when playing), Perkins, and Durham

Forgot Martin in that last group. The thing with Martin, Perkins and Durham is they can all play other roles and pinch hit in the middle at times, and they all offer something different when they go in. Hobbs is just a worse version of Parish and now Tstatas by the looks of it. If Tsatas fails he'll probably get his chance.

Ok, still a sub risk and low on the rotation. Thanks.

CBA not reflective of the bigger picture and reliant on lots of inferences. No magic multipliers received, more open game in the preseason may not lend itself to repeat stoppages immediately after a ball up in the same vicinity, coaches wanting to play around with centre bounce rotations, more open game may mean higher scoring and rucks do not take all stoppages between scores and set to a certain field area along with accounting for interchanges with 26 available, players rested for full or significant portions of quarters and so on.

Ruck Contests Attended:
Qtr by qtr breakdown:
Q1: S Draper: 19 (8 CBA)
N Bryan: 0 (0% TOG)

Q2:
S Draper: 10 (4 CBA)
N Bryan:8 (6 CBA)

Q3:
S Draper: 15 (4 CBA)
N Bryan: 10 (2 CBA)

Q4:
S Draper: 9 (1 CBA)
N Bryan: 12 (8 CBA)
Bryan scored 64 FP 4Q total 97 pts 49% GT
Bryan had 26 SC points at 3QT end up with 85 SC points
