Similar to last year's thread, i have done a quick analysis of the top 10 teams as well as tracygrims and myself (just for kicks :p).

The following players are owned by all 12 teams:
  • Simpson
  • Swallow
  • Ablett
  • Pendles
  • Beams
  • Sandilands
  • Dangerfield
  • Martin
The following players are owned by 11 out of 12 teams:
  • McVeigh (not owned by 6th)
  • Watson (not owned by 8th)
  • Selwood (not owned by 8th)

Other popular players include:
  • Parker (owned by 8 teams)
  • Bartel, Jacobs, Langdon, Higgins (owned by 7 teams)
  • Zorko (owned by 6 teams)
  • Shenton, Acres, Cameron, Ambrose (owned by 9 teams)

How and where do you think the overall will be won? My money is on aps1, so much money on the bench he won't have any problems grabbing extra premiums.

I am fascinated to see what you all do with Watson this week! A brave trade could decide the winner, or on the flip side see one of you crash and burn (Not to put any pressure on)!

The 8th side is interesting, the most POD side of the 12, will keep an eye on how they progress.

argh the table if way too wide. Sending out the bat signal for the experts (Jay/Rowsus) to make it more view friendly!
Nice work!!

I don't think there is a way you can fix it as you have it at the lowest size: 1 and you need to have 30 players per team. The only way is you show the 30 players vertically rather than horizontally and thus you will only have 11 columns, but even with that I still don't think it will fit though :(

The only other option is you zoom the table in and post it as an image where you can make it very small.

Now I know why I am ranked ~4000 and not top 10, I don't have Pendles, Sandilands and Swallow; LOL. Traded out Sandilands for Goldy and chose Enright over Swallow. Pendles we all know the story.

Just shows how hard it is going to be for any team outside of probably the top 50 to make up any ground. Think you should definitely do this again next week to find out what everyone has done with Watson. The amount of trades left would be interesting to know, some could still have 10+ trades left, other may have a lot less. Liking the fact nobody has Nic Nat, so if he can keep up his current form can be a great POD. Little bit surprised only one team has Jaensch.

NicNat is a risk though - maybe only for teams like mine (ie ones that need a pod and cash boost? ). Jaensch is also a risk, although from a lack of history point of view - possibly people dropped him after his ribs injury?

Both good points though Squiz!

That's a very useful analysis mate!
Helps to see what went wrong and what should be fixed.
Just by glancing through it's apparent that I have to get rid of Suckling soon (only 1 owns him) and somehow get Parker in my team.

P/S: Why don't I see Enright's name anywhere...

I'm gonna put it out there but i reckon most will go Watson to SJ. Right price, right draw, right type of scoring potential.

After look at each of the teams players, I have made a list of players which I hope to get injured. Preferably a 2-3 week injury which makes it difficult for the coaches to decide whether to trade or hold ;) Alternatively they can just start stinking it up for the rest of the season. Cheers.
Backs: Hibberd (Owned by 5), Burgoyne (4), Hanley (4)
MIDS: JPK (5), Rockliff (3)
Rucks: Cox (2), Minson (2), Jacobs (7)
Forwards: Zorko (6) , Pavlich (8), Gray (3), Boomer (3)

Hahah Parker and Bartel are the ones that kill me most weeks so they'd be two i'd be hoping for (who i assume you own)

Great previous results btw mate!

So you are the only one who has SJ already! Will be interesting to see who you bring in then

Will definitely be wearing purple i think. Just not sure what number will be on his back.

I've changed the layout of the table which i think works better. No need to scroll if your monitor is wide enough :)

I'd be interested to see how many started with Cotch and how many have brought him in. Hopefully a few of the top 10 teams will post in here and let us know!

So having had a bit of a look at the the top 10 or so teams over the last week, I am a little surprised that I am in the lead. I probably have the weakest midfield at the moment, not having any of JPK/Libba/Ward/Rockliff while most have 1 or even 2 of them along with the standard Ablett/Pendles/Beams/Selwood/Watson types, the weakest ruck (Cox vs Jacobs/Minson), an ok defense but with no Bartel. The only line that I may be winning is the forwards, and that is probably on the back of getting Harvey from Rd 9 (averaging 135) and Roughead 180 odd last week, where a lot are still running Higgins.

It is interesting to see what PODs are in the top 10. For me the key players look to be

Jacobs/Minson - 2 have Minson and the rest have Jacobs, while I'm the only one with Cox;
Zorko/Gray - 4 have Zorko and 3 have Gray (2 have both). While I have Boomer (4 in total) and Roughy (3 in total, again 2 have both);
Bartel/Hibberd - 6 have Bartel, 5 have Hibberd, while I have Burgoyne/Hanley/Hurn;
Mids - 4 have JPK, 3 Libba/Rockliff, 1 Ward. I have Murphy (4) and Barlow (1). Interesting that a few still have Cotchin!

It will be interesting to see what they all do with Watson, whether they take the value in someone like SJ or go for a $620k+ player.

It is at this point in the season I love looking back to my original teams, and seeing which ones would have worked out the best.
My Supercoach Team #08 (out of 15 pre-season teams) looks to have been amazing if I had actually had the gonads to go through with it!!

Defenders: Malceski, Bartel, Simpson, Swallow, McDonald, Langdon, Langford, Laidler
Midfielders: Ablett, Pendlebury, Liberatore, Beams, Tyson, Mitchie, Polec, Ellis, Dunstan, Cunningham
Rucks: Jacobs, Sandilands, Derickx, Thurlow
Forward: Dangerfield, Martin, Zorko, Gray, Dahlhaus, Higgins, Kennedy-Harris, Impey

It would have avoided all the ruck mayhem (injuries to Ryder & Mumford, and the spudding of Minson & Goldstein), the injuries to Hurn & Mitchell in the backline, and the breakout of Swallow, Gray ,Dahlhaus & Higgins in the forward line!

The benefit of 20-20 vision!

I was just having a look at your team, trying to work out what I would do if I was in your shoes. It's a bit of a pain for you this week that the Hawks play on Friday night in that you can't use Langford or Hartung for the emergency loophole! (Assuming both don't play)

I guess your first trade will be Watson out to another premium. Then your second trade (if you use two) depends on how much cash you have, but I assume you will bring in another premium midfielder either this week or next week. Getting the right two premium mids will be key for you. Well I suppose every decision you make from now on will be vital! Good Luck!

Good Luck!
Thanks mate! Yep - first trade is Watson, fairly certain on who I'll bring in. Second trade is a bit trickier. It was going to be Zorko before he went up in price and to cover a POD, but that would have meant leaving him or another MID/FWD in the MIDs for a week or two, wasn't keen on that so will give him a miss - hopefully he doesn't burn me the other way. Was also thinking S Martin, but his injury history scares me (3 hamstrings since November). Will more than likely take the long term view and build the team I'm happy with rather than worry about short term scoring.
