Would be an interesting strategy to load up on backs mpollock because generally they're the least scoring of all the premiums (and on the decline as well?) but the back rookies do appear to be a little questionable with lots of candidates but not a lot of job security,

Then you'll find my current backline of: Goddard, Gibbs, Duffield, Dempster, Hanley, Bock interesting. :)
Yes, the Def Prems score less than the Mid Prems, but they come with at a discount price (dollar for dollar, not dollar for point), too. One of the things I like about loading your Def early, if you can find the value that is, is the margin for error is less. Take a mid Prem hoping that he scores 120/game and he scores 90 and it really hurts. Take a Def Prem hoping to get 95/game, and he scores 75 and it hurts less. :)

Haha very interesting indeed. How long have you had it drafted that way? I had a back and forward stacked team as well for a while but i got too scared not having a whole bunch of mids hahah

It was one of my early strategies for 2013, I thought if I could find enough value, I'd try and nail, or nearly nail, my Defs, and hopefully leave them until very late in the season. I got sick of Def Rookies coughing up 60's, so I thought I'd try this instead. :)

Yep i'm looking at all these back rookies and really starting to doubt them. Docherty unlikely, Pittard possible, Goodes a relative unknown, Colquehen, Terlich who knows...thinking going back to a traditional stacked rookie midfield will be a better option.

Call me silly but the more i look at it, the more i think a 8 rookie midfield is becoming a possibility....totally left field for me now.

Hey Jay,

Great Article, was curious if you have thought about an updated version of this article now that we know only the best 18 on ground count during the byes.

Cheers :)
