Looks like 10th might have a decent jump with Hurn/Bartel/Goddard/Buddy and cover for the Selwood out. Also no Higgins for him either.
Strong self quoting haha but 10th into 3rd now.

Haha nice! Honestly thought you would've been overtaken this week, as well as me dropping 10-20 places so definitely happy to have been wrong :)

Round 13 trades. Did these by eye so my apologies if any are wrong. Interesting trades from tg (if i've listed them right lol). Two unlucky coaches who brought Stevie J in as well!

Awesome Work IDIG

Such a good thread for anyone who is concentrating on overall ranking plus a really good learning tool.

The trade that in really interests me is The Slobs bringing in Jack ahead of Stevie J. That happened on Sat so was before the news of Stevie J out broke.
I assume aps1 didn't have enough coin for Libba who would have been the obvious choice to cover a frustrating POD?

But you would have assumed most of the top 10 would have brought in Stevie J had it not been for the late out - so a very interesting decision by aps1 to increase his POD and ignore a player like StevieJ that can do some serious damage.

Would love to hear aps1's reasoning? :)

Great point BL. Unless the whispers were enough to scare him off? Or perhaps the possibility of Stevie missing weeks through suspension or resting? I agree with you though, Stevie is a POD i wouldn't want the chasing pack to have!

Then again, like MMM said, that's why he's number 1!

EDIT: BL you're not far from being added onto the list either :D

SJ was never an option for me, with the weekend being one of the reasons why. Obie wrote a very good post earlier in this thread, which I totally agree with. Also, while SJ has a nice draw for the next few games, he has a poor record against most of the teams he plays in his last 4-5 games (which includes Freo). It's interesting that second place brought in Goddard, I wonder if that was due to SJ being a late out and Goddard was the best available/affordable or whether that was a planned trade?

The plan was to get Libba, but then having to deal with Cox, meant that while I could still get Libba, it would ave impacted my remaining planned trades. I decided to gamble against Libba and his highish b/e (which failed!) and possible pick him up at a slightly cheaper price. It's not a total disaster, as I can still get him, but I now also have the option of Libba, JPK or Rocky for my final mid upgrade.

Jack was a little left-field, but he is the type of player I like. Rarely misses a game, will generally get you 110-115 a game, with a couple of big games a year, and has a nice draw coming up. The Swans midfield also runs deep, so less likely to get the tag. Getting Jack wasn't so much of increasing my PODs but picking who I thought was the best available player without screwing my long term plans.

I like the Jack trade. Very very pod. I was going to start the year with him but for his injury. I'd be comfortable with Franklin and Stevie J as negative pod as the odds are on your side. Only difference with Franklin is if you got him bargain basement and was able to work him into a loop. Libba is becoming a very negative pod and I would be addressing that pronto if I was in contention.
Stefan Martin is almost a must this week. Will be very interesting how everyone utilises his flexibility. Good enough for F6? Or a forward or ruck loop?
Pity the competition is all or nothing. Winner takes it all. Some sort of prize for top 10 would be nice.
The one to watch is BigJennyTalia. Was right in contention for all of last season and like Amit is back there again. Very impressive effort. At this time of year trades start to bite and everyone at the top is low I guarantee it. 2-3 more weeks of trades being used and then ride you luck home. Will be extra interesting to see what some of the loops will look like all at the risk of getting bitten on the arse with poor cover.

Interesting to note only 23 points seperates 3rd and 8th, with 10th place out to 309 points behind.

Not sure what a reasonable amount of point is to make up at this stage of the season, keeping in mind there are still 10 whole rounds left, but perhaps 500 is still possible.

I would love to see how many trades each of these top 10+1 teams has right now too as this is also going to be a very important factor in determining who wins!

Without knowing anything about 2nd placed team, I'd say that the Goddard trade was more by force (due to SJ's out) rather than choice. I traded in Goddard (for Watson) solely because I didn't want a donut.

With Beams Out, 2nd placed team had Acres and Beams on the bench. While 2nd place team has a spare premium in the DEF, it was too late to move that DEF (Langdon for example) to the MID.

Also, 2nd placed team appears to be from another website (FFC), but interestingly he has Jayden Hunt (Floating Donut?) and thus I wonder if he reads from this website :) All good if he did :)

Actually, aps1 (Slobs) has Jayden Hunt too :)

I had a quick browse at aps team last night and scary how many cashed up rookies he has ready to use in trades at his leisure. How many trades he has left I'm not sure but I sense it would be no less than the other main contenders. I get the feeling it might be down to the top 40 now.
Aps will be hard to catch based on I think he is a bloody good player and not likely to give you guys much of a look in. Might come down to captain choices. But you are a damn good player too so you certainly in with a shot.

Great answer!

Like Obie said I really like the Jack trade as well, he is definitely a low stress kind of player.
In saying that the Hannebery injury couldn't have come at a worse time! Will be interesting to see if it affects Jack, as it moves him up the tag chain.

Best of luck mate!
