Hi Rowsus

With Cox out what do you recommend? Do I trade Watson > SJ (as per your previous advice) and Cox to a playing ruck? Or do I upgrade Currie to Martin?

The problem is that I need to generate cash to get my final defence upgrade too. I have put Cutler on field with Litherland as emergency. Litherland got 39 so I could take that and try to upgrade in the coming weeks.

I'm guessing its way to risky to downgrade Cox to Martin to free up cash for Cutler to Hanley (or the like)?

Hi Bobbie,
a lot depends on how your match looks, and how important it is to win this particular match.
Watson to SJ, and Currie to Martin is definitely an option, and if it is an important/close match, that's what I'd probably do.
Good luck :)

Thanks Rowsus. I've done a lot of thinking about it and have decided not to risk Cox > Martin. I'm also having second thoughts re SJ so if I don't get him then Currie to Martin would leave me bankrupt. Going to be conservative and go Cox > Goldy and Watson > Ward (he's killing it and I don't have the likes of Rocky or JPK who are a bit pricey).

Thanks for the feedback. I'll (try to) stop nagging you now!!

They're certainly not horrible options you've gone for.
good luck, I hope it works out! :)

Hi Rowsus,

Just wondering, what score would McGovern have to get to keep ahead of Shenton??

The second part to this though would be, if I wanted to take McGovern's score it means that my midfield cover (for if Selwood happens to be a late out) would be O'Brien who is the starting sub for Brisbane. Thoughts mate?

Don't worry mate, taking McGovern's score and will have to cop it O'Brien's sub effected score if Selwood happens to be a late out.

I would have said 70, but it worked out well for you.
I was mucking around near the end of the Syd v Port/start of WC game, and missed the lockout to get McGovern on the field. :(
I'm guessing he got about 30 or 40 points for that last goal, I was out shopping (with the wife ) and missed it all.

Oh mate thats annoying, feel your pain. Similar thing happened to me when Pendles went 150+ a few weeks back, wanted to take his VC score then had bad internet where I was the following day. Got home and missed swapping the C onto a donut before Gazza's game, and that was his quiet one. Ah well thats SC for you :)

Hey Rowsus, you just mentioned McGovern might have scored 30-40 for his last goal. Can you explain how that works? Different question for you to usual trade advice. Thanks mate...

When the game is tight, and a player kicks a goal very late in the game that puts his team in front, it gets very highly "weighted" and can attract extra points, due to it's perceived importance to the outcome of the game.
The most famous recent example is early last season. Bartel got a free kick (for a good tackle from memory), a 50m penalty and kicked the match winning goal, pretty much on or after the final siren. The whole play scored him around 40-50 points.
Conversely, when the game is dead, and one side is trouncing another, a goal might only attract 6 or 7 points.

Thanks for that. I've mainly focused on dream team over the past few years as we had a cash league and therefore i didn't really worry about supercoach (probably reflected in my supercoach results). Always heard it reflected the game better and therefore put some homework in this year. I gathered scores reflected pressure but wondered if there was exact science. Appreciate your response. Good luck for rest of the weekend.

Hi Row, I've got some trade options I'm considering but don't know what's best for my team.

Option 1

Petrie>Goddard/Barlow/Anyone under 600k
Cotchin>Zaharakis/Ebert (optional trade)

This would leave me with 4 (or 5) trades left and no Pendlebury but no Petrie either

Option 2

Petrie>Pendlebury
Cameron>Honeychurch

Again leaves me with 4 trades and the possibility of Honey not getting games (also a waste I think to gain 60k in one trade)

Option 3

Pav/Roughy>Pendlebury
Cotchin>Goddard/Barlow/etc

Would leave me with Petrie at F6 and the option to loophole with McGovern (that's pretty sad) but also allows me to dump Cotchin and get Pendlebury

I like the last option but not sure if I should trade Rough given his scoring ability or Pav given his draw. I have 243k in the bank. Cheers mate

EDIT: just thought I'd edit and say I've gone Petrie>Cunnington and Taylor>Hanley

Hi Rowsus,

Firstly thanks very much for your advise in the past, it has been much appreicated and it has helped me improve my ranking to 574, just short of the top 500 aim.

However I have managing to get my self in a bind.

A) I have Dangerfield currently in M8
B) I do not have Buddy and still have Higgins, which has really hampered my scoring of late.

I have come up with a couple of options for this week and would be interested iin your thoughts on how to best manage my situation. $70k and 8 trades before any this week.

Option 1

Shenton to S Martin
Higgins to Fyfe (or any mid under 551k) (moving Danger back forward)

Means Taylor is coverging mids/fwds and Martin is covering fwds/ruc's

Pros: Goes back to more traditional structure
Cons: I still dont have Franklin, have 6 trades left and only 3k in bank and still starting Langdon in D6 (with no cover)

Option 2

Shenton to S Martin
Higgins to Franklin

Also leaves around 80k to upgrade Langdon next week to best def possible and 5 trades for injuries.

Means Taylor is coverging mids/fwds and Martin is covering fwds/ruc's

Pros: Gets Franklin
Cons: Means Dangerfield would be stuck in M8 and probably would be for the rest of the year.

I would be very greatful for your thoughts and any other possible options

Cheers!!

Hi there Row, need some advise this week.
What do you think about these 2 trades for my team?
Jobe/Suckling >> Fyfe/Hanley

That will leave me with 4 trades ($146,000) and 1 final upgrade in the FWD whereby Parker will come in hopefully next week.
Team will look something like this:

Bartel, McVeigh, Simpson, Swallow, Hanley, Enright (Cutler/Bews)
Gaz, Pendles, Libba, Selwood, Sloane, Beams, Fyfe, Barlow (Shenton/Hartung)
Sandilands, Jacobs (Derickx, King)
Danger, Dusty, Zorko, Pav, Gunston, Governor (Ambrose/Cameron)

It means I miss out on Stefan Martin (replacement for Derickx) as my R3 but with so little trades left, don't think I have a choice.

Hey Rowsus, What do you think of a Currie > S>Martin trade to cover/loop Cox using Max King? Only 5 oppurtunities to loop them and only once in Finals. More worried about Cox missing games then anything so I guess the real Question is is it worth Sideways trading Cox or better to get some cover for him?

Hi Rowsus. I guess as the trades start to dry up you'll be able to get more sleep. :)
I have a general strategy question. I have spent all year looking for value. I now have 7 trades, $350,000 in the bank (not by design) and if I bring in Stefan Martin this week I could have more money. Do I still look for value or do I now just buy the best available regardless of price, rather than wait for their price to drop?

Hey bloke,
I must admit, I'd be more concerned about Swan averaging 93 and Cotchin averaging 97 (they're averaging 85 and 92 in their last 5 games), than I would be about Taylor averaging 72 (68 in his last 5).
I think I'd be looking more at something like Petrie ---> Zorko/Rioli, Swan/Cotchin ---> Pendlebury.
Good luck :)

Hey Rowsus
What do you think i should do with my team this week?
Im thinking of sandipants>martin and Shenton>Johnson.
I also dont have danger but with his huge BE,i think i can wait another week. Eventually, i would like to upgrade roughhead/pav>parker/gray/harvy and watts/burgoyne>bartel/simpson as my final upgrades.
Hey Pro,
I'm guessing the Sandi ---> Martin idea is a quick grab for cash, and I know I don't have to point out the potential problems that could appear in the short term. Having said that, if you have an exit plan in place for cases of emergencies, it's not a completely horrible idea. Let's assume you have your duck in a row, and look at the options.
Given your wish list, I'd then go Watts to Bartel. That would give you a bit more time to assess SJ, Roughie and Pav for form.
Good luck :)

Hey Rowsus,

Was thinking about bringing in Tom Hawkins to complete my forward line and was wondering what your thoughts were on him?
Has got a pretty easy draw coming up and seems to be scoring fairly consistently of recent weeks.
