G'day Rowsus,
I can trade Ambrose to Sloane or Dal Santo this week.
In your opinion who is the better choice?

PS...Sad thing is I'm $200 short of trading Ambrose to JPKennedy.
Would it be worth no trade of Ambrose this week and wait in hope for next week in the hope of affording JPK?
This would cost me points this week of course and may end up even further from affording JPK but I'd still have the Sloane/DalSanto option to fall back on.
Ambrose's B/E = 59.. possibility of him reaching this and maybe even rising $2,000-$3,000.
JPK's B/E = 117.. likely to reach it comfortably but.. also could just equal it and maybe the price difference between he and Ambrose could be made up.

However with only 8 games to be played this means say, diff bw Sloane/DalSanto v JPK = maybe 80-100pts? (maybe even more!) ..let's say 90pts for rest of year.
I would only be getting the benefit of JPK as of next week so that's more like = say 80pts.
- diff bw Ambrose score and Sloane/DalSanto this week = maybe 40-60pts.. let's say 50pts.
So I'd be risking 50pts this week to gain 80pts from next week on.
Haaha actually doesn't sound worth it does it? prob not :)

Sloane v Dal Santo ? thanks mate.
Hi braider,
I was hoping to get to your question before Fridays game. My internet has me tearing my hair out right now :(
I would have said Dal, just. The tipping point was the price difference and the draw. To be honest I don't see a lot between them.
I hope your choice works out well.
Good luck :)

Hi Rowsus, i asked this question on the trades thread but no love yet so thought i'd check your thoughts?

is Derickx to Brown to give me $200k in the bank and leave me 5 trades a good move or bad move? Let Shenton and McGovern roll a little longer and see if more money can be made. Mcgovern can be loopholed in the forwards and Shenton is there in case of emerg. Will miss Hibberd this week but cop the Bews score or donut. or do i go with my original thought and trade Shenton and Gov to Parker/Mora or Hunt (D/M link)?

thanks mate, sorry to throw so many options up but i need all the advice i can get to win my league!
Hi ****,
given it is likely Derickx will play more games than Brown from here, and you don't have Martin to utilise Browns DPP, I would think it is a bad move.
A lot depends on how your match up looks this week, and how important the victory is. Given the added complication that you have Selwood, too. I think I'd only use Derickx if it looked like you needed to do something to win the match, and the match was vitally important,
Outside of that, I think I'd sit pat this week, and squeeze a few more dollars out of Shenton and Gov. I know you're looking at potentially 2 donuts, but unless the match up is vitally important, you might be best suited just copping the bad week.
Good luck :)

Hi Courtesans,
another season of more than your fair share of bad luck! Hopefully it evens out, and next year you get your share of good luck.
Even with the SJ possibly late out scare, I'd sit tight this week, and assess things again next week. I don't think you gain enough by trading this week, unless the SJ out costs you position in any Cash League you may be in.
Good luck :)

Thanks Rowsus, I'm running second in my cash league, the 8 is very tight. My years aim is to play finals in this and the Premier League. I will hold them for dear life. Good luck in your new job!

Going
Pav---> Kennedy via Honeychurch to cover Pav
Also gives me backup in the midfeild.

Any other options I should consider over JPK?

Edit: wrong thread, would appreciate your advice anyway Rowsus.

Not sure if you have Fyfe, but I would have started with him, then JPK if Fyfe was a no go.
I hope it worked out for you. :)

What's the largest drop in season average from someone averaging 117+ for 5 seasons in a row? Has to be Swan right?

Hi Rowsus.
The big one. Who to bring in for Ablett? Would love to see some trade tables on this with comments. Even if he plays I'm not sure he'll be 100%.

I was thinking either Rocky or JPK as the obvious choices but some tables from the mighty Row might unearth some POD gems :)

Here is the complete list, of highest point drops by players that have averaged 117+ 5 seasons in a row:

D Swan - 25.9 (season to date)
G Ablett - 9.5 (2012 to 2013)

no one else has managed it.

Hi Rowsus. I'm trying to think through the Ablett situation with regard to the possible number of weeks he might miss and how effective he will be when he returns.

Let's say we take an optimistic view and he only misses 2 games (ie 3 weeks due to the split round) and returns with 5 rounds remaining in the season - is his point scoring output likely to be diminished and for how long? I wonder wether you have any stats for players who have experienced a similar injury to illustrate the possible impact? I presume Judd might be one example and I presume there may be a few others.

As a follow on, how many games would you be comfortable to hold Ablett on the bench at this time of year? I am thinking that any more than 1 or 2 would start to be a losing proposition with respect to total potential points to be scored to the end of the season from here.

Thanks and I look forward to hearing your thoughts.

Hey Rowsus, when I see people post about teams with "soft draws" I tend to think that coaches tend to give more midfield time to their 2nd tier players thus depriving the elite p[layers the possibility of getting huge scores when they come up against bottom sides especially GWS. Would you have any data to confirm or deny this theory of mine. I need to trade wisely and get the best value for my gaj trade, so want the player who would score the most points between now and the end. I would have gone rocky but thats out so my other options are fyfe/barlow (may be rested) jpk ( a bit down last week) a swallow/harvey (good draw).

I have 4 trades left and was planning gaj to elite premium
shenton to s mitchell
langdon to k simpson

smartin/ambrose to best I cn afford at the time. if s martin plays the season out then he would be f7

having the cash to do these trades and who my final f6 is depends on how much change I get from the gaj trade. apart from the elite options I could go further down to say sj would give me the cash to fulfill my trade plans.

Waiting on Ablett as everyone is. I just thought I would ask another question of you.

If Gary is out for over 5-6 weeks... I will be looking to get rid of him.

Do you think that having an option where Sam Mitchell (for Shenton in 2-3weeks time) is on my midfield Bench is a waste of money? I just don't think litherland is a good cover.
Would it be a silly move to downgrade Gary to Parker? so that I get midfield and forward line cover too as well as backline? Impey doesn't look like good cover either...

Initially my first thought is Gary Ablett to JPK in 1-2 weeks time... so that I can get him when he is cheap. But I have so many ideas in my head now. With only 3 trades left... I'm kind of stuck. My last trade I somehow plan to get Brent Harvey in... either for SMartin or Pavlich

fwiw i was also planning to go shenton to smithch in a week or 2 however I then lose the f/m link in the mids., which may be needed if danger misses games

Hey Rowsus,

With Ablett gone, I need to trade him out. I was wondering if you think I could use H Taylor to cover the donut caused by bringing in my ideal option, Rockliff. Or should I instead get JPK or Ward (not sure which one)?

So I was thinking and tinkering around with my squad and I think I've reached the point where I feel comfortable with such a trade:

Gaz/McGovern >> NDS/Petrie or Wingard

The cash generated from downgrading the Master to NDS will give me enough funds to upgrade my F7.
I would be missing out on potential monster scores from Rocky/JPK but I think my current MID (with NDS in there) should hold up just fine.
That would give me adequate cover through MID and FWD as I would be able to swing Shenton and one of Zorko/Dusty/Danger/Parker around, thus bringing my F7 into play when needed.
Will then be left with 2 trades, possibly for Mitchell and for a rainy day.
Thoughts Row?

I have a few things in mind, only 4 trades and 210k.

Can straight swap Gaz for Libba or Fyfe.

Also thinking straight swap to Parker.

OR lol

Gaz to Libba/Fyfe and Ambrose to Parker. That would push S.Martin to F7.

Or downgrade Currie to Thurlow opening a link. Trade Ambrose to Parker and play him in the MID for one week then next week gaz to rocky.

Ill have stuff all trades but if I at least bring Thurlow in I have Martin as Ruck/FWD cover and honeychurch in the mids to play around a bit.

Hi Rowsus

In your wise opinion, should I take the punt and downgrade Gary Ablett to a Luke Parker this week to give me money (and an extra M/F) to go for an upgrade of Martin/Pavlich to Harvey later on in the year?

Or

Should I play Shenton/Impey for 2 weeks and pick up JPK when his price drops... which will hopefully make me 120k or so from JPK's price drop?

Kind of a similar question, would you rather trade Ablett to Libba who will score well and has a good run (already have Pendles, Fyfe), or downgrade Ablett to Parker which will let me swing with my forward line? Currently my mid bench is O rourke and Acres who are unlikely to play, while my forward bench has Honeychurch and Kersten. And do you think Libba will outscore most from here? Thanks mate :)
