Thanks for that! I hope it's true. Great player in his prime, doesn't deserve to finish his AFL career as an NEAFL regular. Plus he'd be quite the handy SC pickup of course ;)
I think Melbourne will give him some serious consideration, back with Paul Roos for one last year and help teach the young Dees the ropes. Can't think many/any other teams will make too hard of a play for O'keefe, considering he will be 34 in January 2015.

Be surprised if Ryan O'Keefe picked up to be honest. Dees already got Daniel Cross to help tutor their young midfield so a second one would be overkill and clog up spot on list.

GWS will be a year older. Surely they do not have a big need for another veteran midfielder 3 years after James McDonald and Luke Power were doing that as teachers to a very young list. Next year will be Giants 3rd season. Surely Ward, Dylan Shiel, Treloar, Coniglio, Toby Greene, Whitfield, Josh Kelly and Hoskin-Elliott need as much time in midfield together without Ryan O'Keefe taking up a regular role there. I guess if he played half forward and small stints in midfield they would be only likely candidates to draft him. I can't see the other 17 clubs in AFL bothering with using a spot on their list for 34 year old that not played a senior game for some time.
Maybe it is worth getting him simply to get Jed Lamb up and running at Gaints. He's not had a good first year there moving from Swans. I think Giants probably have one more year of a bigger list than others clubs so possibly makes a good fit for that specific role.

Potentially he could join Essendon's retirement home as they probably only have next season to make a premiership push with the age of the current list. Could get ROK and go all out, but I'm happy with how the youngsters are travelling in the Merretts, so ROK might just become a Colin Sylvia.

Actually come to think of it, if quite a few Bomber players were to get banned for two years by ASADA. Ryan O'Keefe could help them out.

Hello fellow SCS types.

As you may notice, I have changed my name. After starting SuperCoach last year and having a 'Essendon are a #$_(! @_!($ #**! etc' fire in my belly, I settled on a name that (I thought) broadcast my thoughts on the matter, as well as being suitably clever enough to satisfy my desire to both amuse myself and be a smartarse.

Since then, the whole thing has dragged on and bloody on, and I honestly now don't care and am pretty much over it. Of course in the meantime, I have met loads of friendly and helpful SC coaches through this site (including some that support the Bombers?! :p) and have developed a love of the SC game. Thus out of respect to Jay, Maso, Philszay, IDIG, Bomber18, and the many other Essendon supporters on SCS I decided to make a change. That doesn't mean I now like Essendon, far from it, but equally I am sure there are many out that there that don't like Hawthorn much...

So PC it now is. The letters can stand for anything you like - Pretty Crap, ****ed Chap, Politically Correct, Personal Computer, Primrose Cupid, Pumped Charm, Pop Corn - honestly, I am not fussed. They simply no longer stand for PeptideCourage.

Cheers, thanks for indulging my little speech :)

Good stuff PC. Nothing like a bit of Hawthorn Essendon rivalry :p but i agree, it has dragged on for wayyyy too long so any reminder that can be avoided is appreciated.

Should have changed it to PPE. **** poor effort. Should have sunk the boot into the red and black bastards..lol

In all honesty I don't mind Essendon. I respect them as a club overall but some of the crap gone on and nonsense written by one eyed Essendon supporters in general media and newspaper comments I consider dribble. I like Mark Thompson but lost quite a bit of respect for James Hird. I don't buy any victim card story at all by anyone from Essendon because the bottom line is for me, they went into a murky area in very strange experimental and unprofessional manner. They actually brought this whole mess into AFL arena and their club. I only feel sorry for the players parents and families and wonder why the players were stupid enough in first place to sign disclaimer forms and not ask important questions that should have been asked by them. I equally cannot stand other supporters that want to hate Essendon and call them cheats. Nodoby in my mind tried to cheat. Maybe only cheat going on was some guy injecting things into people and not being up front and honest with their agenda with those guinea pigs. But winning at all costs and whatever it takes approach is well and truly where Hird is accountable as coach in charge in this timing. He needed to accept FULL RESPONSIBILITY and his attitude left a lot to be desired for someone whom oversaw this mess they got themselves into. He has shown no remorse for how it has affected the game in general in last 18 months and only seem to want to defend himself at all costs with side issues and reputation. He has not killed anyone but at same time, ***, take responsibility and accept you had a big say in club getting in very murky area with supplement experiments. Just because you are not a drug cheat does not mean you have not done the game harm with how you experimented with your club list in guinea pig type fashion. Sometimes Mark Thompson annoys me too as he is not innocent of this mess either. Clearly he had a lot to do with the Wheapon and Dank being at Essendon. Hird might have been the coach but I reckon Bomber advised for them to get these guys so in a way, if Thompson had not been there, even Hird would not have got himself in this mess. How those guys got employed at club in such a loose fashion amazes me. No due diligence shown at all it seems. That all comes back to guys above them too. Most of them gone from club and probably a good thing all things considered. Poor governance. Bloody oath!
Thompson has bravely fought on, coached well and I suspect behind the scenes feels a sense of guilt for him having a real say in how Essendon got to where they are as a club. Sometimes shows in his body language and press conferences I believe.
The only difference with him and Hird, is he has not tried to hold the game and league to ransom like Hird has. His more humble approach to right the wrongs shows great character despite creating a lot of mess himself. When he says feel sorry for the players I agree with him, but also think to myself, " hey mate, your part of reason they in this situation having ASADA make their life hell these many months " Don't play the victim card too much as I have a level of sympathy but ultimately it is all brought on by your own club as you were part of that even if nothing sinister by you was intended.

Similarly I also could not give a crap about some journalists that want more blood. Essendon done wrong and brought game in disrepute. AFL gave them a whack. That is done with. Now we are left with ASADA saying individual football players have cases to answers. I probably got even less regard for ASADA themselves as I find them a joke as an agency. I kind of hope the courts throw ASADA case out. Not because I want to see this whole sorry saga end for Essendon. I want to see it end for the individual players involved and all us football fans in general that sick to death of journalists and Hird's ego not seeing the bigger picture here which is the sport and game in general is sick of it. Only the law industry and journalists win out of this very sorry long drawn out mess. The parents and family members of players been put through more than enough already. Probably Scott Gumbleton I feel most sorry for. Poor guy has not had a break from injury in his career and then all this happens just as he tries to re-kindle hope to still have a footy career at elite level. Does a hammy early in season and gone again...

Not SC related so I'll post here, but I've somehow gone through to the final 16 of therealdreamteam competition in the eliminator!

Prize of $2500 is right in front of my eyes but I have the weekly problem of who to play cos I managed to get 7 fwd premiums.
Danger, Parker, S.Martin, D.Martin, Gray, Harvey and Chappy. I benched Chappy this week and played Gray and nearly got eliminated because of it!
Who would you bench out of the above for the coming round? Chappy again? Or Gray due to Port's poor form and versing Sydney?

Good luck mate.

My only advice is look at the ground and/or weather, ie I prefer Etihad games as easier cheap kicks and marks rather than wet games where you have to rely on tackles. Also I generally don't like Rucks compared to others. Having said this, I haven't really checked, if my usual rules apply this year.

Please don't let it stand for Politcally Correct!
History will look back on this period, and Political Correctness will be recognized as the scourge of the new millenium!
While achieving some of it's goals, it actually has gone too far, and now stops people being completely honest. Anythng that causes people and society to be less honest, in general, actually can never cause more good than harm. The fear of offending people has gotten so out of hand, it has actually caused people to look for things and words that offend them, rather than turning a blind eye or ear to them.
If someone can tell me what was achieved by renaming things like "blackboards" as chalk boards because we can't use the word Black in anything anymore, I will be totally surprised! Blackboard was never derogatory, and it was an apt description of what it was. We have taught a generation of children that "Black" is a bad word, and shouldn't be used, by eliminating perfectly reasonable uses of the word. These same children are being taught that they shouldn't be "marginalised". I don't know how we children of the 50's, 60's and 70's survived without recognising the near weekly occassions we were being marginalised in everyday life!
The genie is out the bottle now, and it will probably never be put back in! My goodness, even the police in some areas are not allowed to use "descriptive" words, and are forced to say non-white rather than we are looking for someone of asian/african/indian/Eastern European appearance. Surely people can see it is pointless, and just as bad, labelling everybody as non-white and white!
It feels like the do-gooders and hand-wringers of the world are patting themselves on the back for saving the world's children from the wolves, meanwhile they are being slowly poisoned by the snakes that teach them to be too precious!

Sorry, rant over, you are definitely not Politically Correct, PC! You are too good a person to carry that moniker.

Thanks for the response! I was leaning towards that too until today as SJ is probably out. I'll be switching Chappy into the mids to cover him!

Is there seriously any chance Melbourne will get a first round pick for Frawley if he leaves? So effectively pick 2/3 depending on where they finish. Will be extremely ****ed off and Hawthorn supporters would have to be even more ****ed off with the compensation they got for Buddy. Ladder position of the team receiving the compensation should be a factor. At a guess would get $500k-$550k a season, no where near the $800k he was first asking for.
