Daniel Merrett to leave Brisbane is another rumour I've heard, GWS and Melbourne interested apparently.

I could see him going to Melbourne. Good plug for Frawley/Mitch Clarke. GWS really... Do they need another man mountain?!

Ryder was offered plenty of $$$ from GWS a couple of years ago but resisted. He is currently contracted until the end of 2016, so two more years to run. When he signed his latest contract 2 years ago it was reported by the Herald Sun as being for $2million for the 4 years, so lets assume that would be $500,000 a year, would the Lions be offering significantly more than that?

Plus the Lions would also have to come to a trade deal that Essendon would accept, it's not like he is uncontracted and they can force the Bombers hand. Further the Lions have Leuey, Martin and West, even if one goes it still doesn't make much sense, unless they want to use Ryder as a forward. While Paddy is a decent forward he seems to play much better when playing as the sole ruckman.

Next he is from WA, so if he was to move anywhere surely it would be back there one would assume. From all reports Ryder is quite the family man, why would he move his own kid and fiancée to Brisbane instead?

Now there are two other things I have considered. First he is managed by Paul Connors. This is the guy who notoriously manages his players by leaking to the media that other Clubs are interested in paying big bucks for his clients. It is just the way he operates. Is he trying to pump Ryder's wages up after his best season? Secondly Ryder is getting married in North Qld during the off season. Has the reporter added 2 plus 2 to get 8?

Anyway I could be wrong, but my gut tells me I will be watching Paddy play in a red and black jumper next year.
Argh! Great timing, right before finals

Bomber ruckman Ryder headed for a storm

PATRICK Ryder's management is reportedly exploring a clause in his contract that could allow the ruckman to leave Essendon at the end of the season as a delisted free agent.

The key Bomber, who signed a four-year contract in 2012, could leave the club on the grounds it seriously breached its duty of care to him through the supplements scandal of 2011-12.

Essendon would receive no compensation under the new rule, which was pushed by the AFLPA and introduced as a result of the club's breaches.

The Age reported Ryder feared potential health risks as a result of the club's "pharmaceutically experimental environment".

The 26-year-old has been linked most prominently to the Brisbane Lions as well as Greater Western Sydney.

The Bombers, who face North Melbourne in an elimination final on Saturday night at the MCG, are under investigation by the Victorian WorkCover Authority for possible breaches of health and safety during the club's supplements program.

I wouldn't panic just yet re Ryder. From reading around the Bomber internet it seems likely that this has surfaced most likely as Ryder's fiancée may like to move out of the city of Melbourne. I doubt he would screw us over. The rest of the story in the media so far is just posturing.

It funny reading Wilson's article. As pointed out on Blitz have a look at the following words in her article:

could
could
While no player has yet challenged Essendon by invoking the clause, would be
possible
could should he attempt to successfully
reportedly potentially so-called "pharmaceutically experimental environment". His partner, has a Queensland background.
Fairfax Media understands
Connors, who did not return calls on Wednesday, is understood
It is understood
Suggestions were denied
Brisbane has not yet made a offer,
It has not been established
The general view is
would normally
would
The AFLPA believes
inquiries from player managers
former chief executive, Matt Finnis,
the principle is far broader and general in its application.

A whole lot of if pigs had wings they would fly type stuff.

But Philzsay, it's completely out of character for Caro to wildly speculate.. Particularly about anything Essendon-related. :p

Lucky for us it is a Thursday. Means only 6 or 7 more hours until we get the exclusively breaking news from 'the best in the business' on the footy show. Sure the news will be that several people didn't return his call and others made no comment while trying to get past him to get into their car, but it is what he says after "I believe.... and the footy show understands...." that I am desperately waiting to hear...

radio talk in Adelaide is that the Crows are chasing Phil Davis and trying to get him back (believe he is contracted to the Giants next year)

last week the talk was that Goldsack had signed with the Power for 3 seasons, now linked to the Crows

I think "the best in the business" goes with the approach that if you fire enough bullets eventually you'll hit something.

Young Giant asks for trade to Victorian club

GREATER Western Sydney defender Sam Frost looks set to depart the club after requesting a trade back to Victoria.

The 21-year-old is believed to have informed the Giants of his desire to seek a return to a club in his home state where his family lives.

Frost, the younger brother of Collingwood backman Jack, played 16 games for the Giants this season, for a career tally of 21 over three seasons.

The former rookie managed to hold down a key defensive post for much of the season in the absence of injured Giants Phil Davis, Nick Haynes and Tim Mohr, but can also be used in attack.

Frost, who is out of contract, was drafted from TAC Cup side Sandringham Dragons, with his athleticism and height important attributes.

The Giants are also considered likely to lose key position player Kristian Jaksch, who has attracted the interest of Victorian clubs.

And the No.2 draft pick in 2012, midfielder Jono O'Rourke, is likely to make a decision in the next few days about his future.

GWS declined to comment when contacted by AFL.com.au on Thursday.

The Giants hold pick three in the NAB AFL Draft ahead of next month's trade and free agency period, and have also activated a compensation draft selection at the end of the first round (approximately pick No.20)

Word is Harry O (or at least formerly Harry O) now wants out of Collingwood. Not sure how much to read into that one but wouldn't surprise me tbh. From FB.

And the Hawks to offer Jake Carlise a huge contract offer apparently.

AFL 360 was saying that Heretier complained about a poster in the changerooms he thought was ****phobic. Thinking was that Collingwood might be happy that he is unhappy and it is 1 less distraction for the club.

Harry O will end up at Carlton with his mate Malthouse. With regards to Carlisle is he 1 of the 34 with show cause notice?

I no. He was my cover for jkp round 22 when he did his hammy and scored like 10 lol. Very early in the kids career but pies keep saying there going youth so I guess it makes a little sence to get a no 2 draft pick in exchange for harry who is no superstar.
Could be a few young pies players on our sc benches next year who might have some handy js.
As always nab cup will reveal some insight
