BREAKING: @westernbulldogs skipper Ryan Griffen has requested a trade to @GWS_Giants

ETA: Source - SuperFooty
Wow didn't see that one coming! There has been rumours of discontent at the Doggies between some players and the coach but you never really know the true story.

Fair to say the rumours about McCartney and the older players not getting on are true with both Cooney and Griffen wanting to leave.

Doesn't Liam Jones want out as well? He's young, so maybe it's not just the older players.

Garlett for Blease seems like a good deal to do for all involved.
If they were delisted when would they get drafted? Garlett would go 3rd-4th round, while Blease would be no certainty to get drafted. Although I don't rate Garlett highly (always goes missing when it matters) he is still worth more than Blease. Blease has barely played at AFL level while Garlett at least has the potential to kick 40-50 goals.

Nothing huge but I'd add in Melbourne's 4th round pick to make the deal fairer (pick 60 or so).

That's more for opportunities at senior level though so is a bit different. He only played 3 of their last 14 games.

Jones is 198cm? I always thought he was low 190s and a 3rd tall like Crameri meaning they couldn't both play in the same side.

Agreed, but with both players not wanted at either club and both wanting a new home, the main thing to do is help them get to a destination they are happy with.
Garlett has done more for sure but Blease has had injury issues so his upside is yet to be fully explored. He is similar player to Garlett, as in his pace is his best attribute. He has just not worked out at Dees. I think he will get picked up even if not traded. Same with Garlett. Both are still AFL relevant.

Good news imo. 28. Back injury. A deal with give us ample tools to plug in the gaps

You must be a true Bulldogs supporter, looks like a train wreck to everyone else :)
Regardless of the merits of any trades/draft picks the Doggies can get, their statement after the announcement was that Griff was not going anywhere and was a required player, so it doesn't sound like the club are keen. His decision only gives rise to further speculation on those rumours of conflict between players and McCartney, or at the very least some internal issues at the club. Nothing like some ammo to continue giving a rumour some legs...

Who knows? Maybe he's wife wants to move to Sydney? Maybe he does want a change of scenery? But still it's not often a Club Captain ups and leaves like that though. Judd from WCE and Colbert from Geelong are only two that I can think of in relatively recent times.

I don't know whether it's just me but I think people are severly underestimating brisbane for next year. They have some amazing young midfeild talent but lack big key position defenders and forwards. Even if they dont get beams this year they could possibly get him next year for free through free agency. This is their current midfeild and age.

Hanley - 25
Zorko -25
Rockcliff - 24
Beams?? - 24
Cristianson?? - 23
Redden - 23
Crisp - 21
Taylor - 19
Aish - 18

Ruck
Martin - 27 (still an underated player in my opinion despite the hype, accumulated over 30 disposals twice in his 12 games this year which is nuts)
Luenburger - 26

That will be a seriously insane midfeild in 4 years if they can retain players.

Club only just found out and will back down when it calms and there is a juicy offer. We have been crying for a key fwd. This our chance to get a gem and more.

Mooney said the same. Far from a train wreck. Its a golden opportunity. I even said id trade him last year for pick 1. He was a 1 year captain. Boo hoo lol.
