Who gave a fantasy coach the keys to the GWS trade table?
They must have been keen to add another experienced player to their line-up.
Heath Shaw and Mumford were good gets the year before. Griffen added this year. Josh Hunt and Gilham retired.
Certainly needed another influx of experienced guys but failing to get enough of them.
The problem for them is they do have a core group of young talented players but keeping them together long enough to snag a premiership will be a challenge.
Cameron and Patton long term is awesome dual key forwards to have but Patton has serious injury to overcome before can become the force they hope.
Treloar, Dylan Shiel, Hoskin-Elliott, Toby Greene, Josh Kelly, Whitfield, Cogniglio and Devon Smith they need to hold on to long enough to make the most of the concessions they were given from start.
Losing Boyd, Jaksch and O'Rourke this trade period will be interesting if this is the trend they need to stop from becoming the norm.
They got the young talent up forward and midfield to have a crack at premiership window when they all mature but if they do not create a proper key defender they could find trouble. Not convinced Davis and Mohr will be there when they all mature so losing Jaksch in particular not good for them and Sam Frost was another possible key defender gone this week. Not sure whom takes over in ruck if Mumford breaks down.
