Mind if ask who your 4 are? I'm currently sitting on Rockliff, Pendles, Selwood, Dangerfield and Wines who i'm hoping will all wind up being keeper premium Mids, but within that i guess you could say it's two rolled gold proven performers, two more speculative picks and Rocky who i'm not quite sure about yet.
I like both these posts.
I think we'll find 7 mid rookies but you might have to pay $200k for a few of them. 7 under $150k would be a dream!
My preference is to start with 4 def, 4 mid, 1 ruck and 4 fwd keepers. I am purposely leaving myself room on each line to pick up premiums at a discounted price during the year and more so in the mids where mistakes have bigger consequences.
If we had unlimited funds you would just pick who you think the best scorers are. But we don't. So we are trying to find underpriced players. We got lucky last year with Ablett, Beams and Murphy all clearly underpriced mid keepers from the start of the year. I can't see any obvious ones this year and I think they will be easier to find during the year rather than at the start. By starting 5 mid keepers instead of 4 I am increasing my chances of getting it wrong.
Because of the Captain earning double points and the Captains loophole I need to pick who I think the 2 highest scorers will be, so they are M1 and M2. I then believe it easier to pick M8 rather than M3, and M7 rather than M4.
For example, I think Callan Ward can be M3-M5 but if I get it wrong he could lose $50k-$100K. I think Andrew Swallow can be M8 but even if I get it wrong I can't see him losing any money. So I'm picking A Swallow.
If I have spare cash I would back myself in to pick D5 or F5 rather than M5 and the consequences of getting it wrong in the midfield are greater so I would still only start 4 keepers in the midfield.
Just realised I'm not very confident, why am I playing this game!!!!

That's what I'm doing with Griffen and Dangerfield, who I believe will be worthy of M7 and M8.
However, I've got six premo mids with Ablett, Rockliff, Pendlebury and Selwood as well.
At the moment that is. Waiting til NAB Challenge to see what mid rookies justify starting in an onfield position in my side.

A bit of help if you fine people would be so kind. I drew up the first iteration of my team and was surprised to find: No players from Brisbane, Hawthorn or Port; Three players from Carlton, Geelong and Sydney. It got me thinking about composition.
Winning teams presumably get the lions share of the available SC points. Hawthorn players seem to have the points shared around. Some elite players get a lot of points although they are not in winning teams. Should one choose elites from poorer teams?
Thoughts appreciated - ideally backed by statistics.
