Good to see Tom Lamb being named for round 1.
Just worried that he might be pushed out once Jack Darling returns?

Darling will be out for a while yet. If Lamb does indeed play then hopefully he will have made enough cash by the time Darling is back.

Dimma non-committal on selection. Says there'll be new faces but no official tick for Lambert or McIntosh. Astbury trained and looked good.

What is Duggan's js like? LITS?
Not sure on job security but he is worth $172k & only scored 10 in his 1 NAB cup game!!
Duggans job security is pretty poor. He will be in and out of our side all year and likely a prime vest candidate when he does play. He is rated very highly by all the draft experts and will become a very good player I believe, but the fact is he is nearly a full year younger than nearly everyone drafted in last years draft.

He played a really good game in the WAFL on the weekend (22 Touches & 2 goals) but faded in the second half of the game and looked like he didn't quite have the tank needed at the moment. I would look elsewhere.

Damn no mention of Nelson??
Simpson mentioned him earlier in the week and I think he might sneak into our team this week especially with Xavier Ellis being ruled out. But once again he will be in and out so better to look elsewhere. Ellis should be back for round 2 so Nelson might struggle to get a game after this week.

Lamb will play in Darlings spot but how long he plays for is the question. There have been lots of reports about Darling's fitness and estimated return from a round 4 debut to after the mid-season bye. Round 6 was about where most thought he might return but I think it might be closer to round 4.

As of this week he is back training with the main group and kicking the ball with his bad foot and said in a CH 9 interview he was trying to push for round 1 but Simmo wouldn't have a bar of it. He also said his fitness was pretty good as he has spent a lot of time on the bikes/treadmills/pool. A lot will depend on any hick-ups but if he doesn't have any... he could be back before lamb has an opportunity to make us much cash.

Will Darlings recent progress... I think there are better rookies with more chance to make cash than Lamb. I won't be selecting him despite hoping he plays really well.

Two young Cats in mix to make debut against Hawks

GEELONG is considering the possibility of unleashing two draftees in the Easter Monday blockbuster against Hawthorn at the MCG.

Coach Chris Scott said both exciting youngster Nakia Cockatoo – who thrilled supporters with his dash in the NAB Challenge – and South Australian youngster Cory Gregson were both "well and truly" in the selection mix for the season opener.

He said the prospect of having both play was tantalising.

"It would be exciting to have a couple of debutants for round one, I reckon," Scott said.

But he stopped short of confirming their inclusion given the game is five days away.

Scott said Cockatoo's inclusion would depend on his preparation and which combination they thought was needed to beat the Hawks.

But he said it was pretty easy to imagine him adding value to the team.

"We think he [Cockatoo] is going to suit our system pretty well," Scott said.

"We also have a pretty good record in recent history of showing faith in our young players, even if they are relatively unproven.

"He has not played much footy. He is going to be a much, much better player in the future than he is now, but he, along with a few others, we think can help us in the short term too."

The Cats claimed Cockatoo with pick No.10 in the 2014 NAB AFL Draft.

Gregson, a small forward who was selection No.47, has had an excellent pre-season and the coach was confident he could perform on the big stage.

"His preparation has given him every opportunity to perform Easter Monday and we have not seen anything from Cory to suggest that round one is too big an occasion for him," Scott said.

The Cats are under no illusions about how tough Hawthorn will be on Monday but Scott said he was comfortable with his side's pre-season.
