Hamish Hartlett of Port Adelaide reminds me a bit like Dyson Heppell from a SuperCoach point of view. So much SuperCoach potential but injury prone and not cheap, however will you take a chance of Hamish Hartlett?

REASONS FOR HAMISH HARTLETT

Hamish Harlett like Dyson Heppell was another high draft pick and was Port Adelaide's first round draft pick and 4th overall in the 2008 AFL Draft.

Harlett has progressively moved forward with his SuperCoach average and in the last 2 years has averaged in the lows 90s. Hartlett joined the Port Adelaide leadership in 2012 and we can only assume he stays in the leadership group (which Port Adelaide has not yet announced).

Hartlett while plays for one of the weaker teams has a very decent draw and could be a good pick. I like the fact that most Port Adelaide supporters have Hartlett playing around the centre line whether it be on the ball or on the wings.

Harlett is within the so-called break-out year range, ie 3-5 years after debuting.

REASONS AGAINST HAMISH HARTLETT

Looking at Harlett's past 4 years, he is very injury prone. The Rolling Lock Out and the increased in trades in SuperCoach 2013 reduces the exposure with Hartlett's injury risk.

I think after the Beams and Dangerfield's breakout year in 2012, Youth could be a policy to employ. Hartlett is a Watch and nearly a Likely for me. While I don't think Harlett will become a Beams or Dangerfield, I think he'll average between 90 to 105.

I'm currently not sure of my structure in the defence in terms of premiums, so for me it will be choosing the better of 2-4 Evils!

I'm growing a real aversion to injury prone players.
I could never understand the many here that were hugely fascinated with Morabito, and it came to be he got injured again. No big surprise!
We can now add a BIG question mark to other perennial injured players in Staker and McIntosh.
I think the best thing to do is just avoid players that can't crank out 16 or more games at a high score/game, or 20 or more games at a reasonable score/game.
Unfortunately, Hartlett, while still young, is developong a bad reputation for his inability to play out a season.
I just can't see me starting with him. People will point to extra trades, but extra trades won't save you from these guys, if you have 3 or 4 of them. Remember, every trade used to replace an injured/suspended player is a trade wasted that week and not improving your team. It's annoying enough when it happens to someone without a bad reputation, but when it's someone with a bad reputation, you get that awful "what was I thinking" hand face plant feeling. Risk 1 of these players, maybe 2, but no more than that.
That's a no from me.

I will watch, but he will be an upgrade target at best I think. A lot of potential, but wwwwaaaaaaaaaayyyyyy to injury prone for my liking (the most games he played in one season was 16 in 2011). I have some safer options in mind who I see averaging the same or more than him.

Yeah I agree, I will watch him throughout the season and if he can put together good scores and stay on the paddock would need to be considered as an upgrade but I am not willing to take the risk on him from the start even with the extra trades his year.

+1 I really rate hartlett. Can definitely play and I feel like Port will have a much improved season. Willing to roll the dice on this one.

Unlikely for mine, just too injury prone and I have enough other injury prone players in my squad taking precedence at the moment.

I selected Watch, but he probably won't be in my initial Team. I've already got 4 Premiums in my Defence and I'm happy with them. D5 is a Rookie, possibly an upgrade to Hartlett, but leaning to Adcock though.

voted watch. Atm he's up against hanley in my side and given his injury history hanley wins out atm. Will be sitting up top as a upgrade option if he avoid injury though

played really well the first nab game, then disappeared in the second game (i would have as well being 38 degress). Started in the guts both games and looks a million dollars....very likely and the draw looks too good to avoid

Starting in the guts is nice to hear but that second game was worrying. heat aside, every other player on the field managed to trouble the scorers.

I love the way Port have slowly eased this guy into the mids over the years, he's gonna be a bloody gun this season, I reckon and easy 15-20 point rise He is so underpriced. Locked and loaded!

WOW!! 15-20 point increase in average is quite a lot for a DEF.
I agree that he is going to be good but atm I am not sure I can trust him injury wise and to deliver for constant premium scores of 110 for a DEF.
