Thought i would make this thread so people can have an understanding of how many upgrades people have made and how many they have left until their team is fully upgraded.
I have 4 more upgrades left myself including this rounds trades.

Once I bring in Rockliff this week I will have one rookie priced player on field in defence, one in the mids and one up forward.

I may need to upgrade some underperforming midpricers or players that I picked as premiums though. Lumumba, Hibberd, B Smith, Bellchambers and even Naitanui are in the firing line.

I'll have 1 Fwd, 2 Mids.... and then some Defenders who may or may not be rookies or premiums and may be good or bad. Or injured. Probably both.

Defs Oxley, Saad/Mcintosh
Mids, Miller, Cripps/McKenzie
Fwds, Tarrant

That is just rookies, that does not mean my team is without other players that may need upgrading.

Looks like I'll have 3 but in reality 4 because Sloane is still out.

Saad, McKenzie/Lever
Miller or Vandenberg*
Tarrant

*Sloane cover.

Technically 5 because TBC is scoring like a rookie anyway. Actually so is Lumumba so make that 6...oh wait I have Newnes as well, so make that 7 :/

EDIT: 4 not 3! :p

Excellent thread. I've seen a lot of posts with people listing a line full of premiums, and while that is great, it isn't really much use if the other lines are full of rookies. Looking at it this way is another good way to look at our sides.

It is a difficult question to answer, because I haven't finalised my trades, and as others have said, we have non-rookies who might need an upgrade.

Before trading this week, I have 7 rookies on field, which will most likely become 6 after I trade.

It is a great question. For me it is not only about the rookies making cash but the fact they are so unreliable. Even though Newnes and Lumumba have been terrible they won't get dropped and don't have a history of missing games through injury. Rookies can disappear quickly through the team having a poor game or young players getting injured because their bodies aren't match hardened. Lonie, Salem and Hogan in the forward line alone this week. Important to reduce the rookie risk factor on each line.

Which is why people trading out Newnes ahead of Oxley are mad!

Would prefer to be ranked 100th with 10 rookies to upgrade than 1st with only 1 rookie to upgrade.
Some good Premos and lots of good rookies may score the same or a bit less as lots of average Premos and a few rookies but it leaves more room for improvement.
Of course the whole balance of supercoach is getting as many of the best players as fast as possible as you can.

For me 5
Def: Saad, McIntosh, Kelly/McKenzie/Brown
Mid: Cripps, Miller/CEY

My defensive depth is abhorrent (and yes I did just learnt that word today).
Everywhere else it is mint. (Bar ruck cover)

Can't quite figure this one out..... I'm pretty sure if someone was 1st after Round 8, with only 1 rookie left to upgrade, they'd break the all time Supercoach points scoring record.... I think that's a pretty enviable positions to be in, personally!
